Felons Voting Illegally May Have Put Franken Over the Top in Minnesota, Study Finds

Re: Felons Voting Illegally May Have Put Franken Over the Top in Minnesota, Study Fin

For me at least, the issue isn't who the felons voted for, it's that their votes even counted. How were they able to register to vote? It doesn't matter who won at this point. Even if every single one of them voted for Stuart Smalley, it won't change the fact that Stuart Smalley is a Congressman from the state of Minnesota. Ths issue here, and some people on both sides seem to be blurring the issue with reciting their party's talking points, is that this is voter fraud - plain and simple. The people of MN should be outraged - not that Smalley may or may not have won because of voter fraud, but that the integrity of the state's election system is seriously flawed.

I completely agree. To me this is no different if some Republican won because of a similar series of events in another state. The fact that it seems like it is fairly easy to commit voter fraud in Minnesota makes me think the elections committee there should seriously look into it.

The recount was required by law due to the very close initial results. If people feel it should not have happened, well... they're wrong.

Laws are only useful when they help your side or hurt the other. Otherwise it seems like people are OK with ignoring them.

The problem may be there is some issues is getting the data together in time for the election. If you go to Minnesota Majority's site, there is a copy of the report that states that they originally looked at people who were "charged" with a felony. Apparently verifying the conviction takes more time. MM did cut the number down and turned the information into the County Attorneys for the two counties listed, which they said they did because those counties had the highest number. The county attorneys from those counties did investigate and brought charges against a handful of the names, I'm gonna say around 20. Minnesota Majority admits that there could be several reasons for this including that the county attorneys don't have the resources to investigate each possible felon. Note that even Minnesota Majority only turned in two of the counties because they didn't want to check all of the other possible illegal voters as well.

The thing is Minnesota Majority has made much larger claims about a bad voting system. Who's responsible for regulating this in their state? The Secretary of State. Who originally headed the Minnesota Majority? The former secretary of state from the other party. I don't think all this is a coincidence.

Since most felons are hard drinking, gun toten rednecks it stands to reason they would vote for Coleman.

I think that this voter fraud issue isn't just isolated to Minnesota. I would imagine that it also happens elsewhere but isn't really given as much attention because it usually doesn't affect the outcome.

Of course, it didn't affec the outcome here either.

Well, we don't have conclusive evidence either way really.

Well, In reading your article, it reads like something poorly written by mediamatters. The author is clearly in Frankin's camp.

BTW, do you think Olberman is a journalist?

I see, but the extremist on the other side of the aisle is always right. Right?

Being more or less statistically impossible works for me.

Well, well, well.....Demo's cheating to gain a Senate seat? Parish the thought!

Now stonewalling to make sure that they can cheat in the future. Is anyone really surprised. Frankin is a joke! A mental midget! And a liar. Just like his boss Obama.

Thoughts?

I hope you realize you have yet to prove Democrats did anything wrong.

Or even that churches have nothing to do with perishing.

Senator Al Franken. Thank you.

The same clown that fell asleep during hearings a couple of weeks ago? Stuart Smalley is far more fitting.

Re: Felons Voting Illegally May Have Put Franken Over the Top in Minnesota, Study Fin

His name is Senator Al Franken. Just as the Potus is President Obama. Anything else is just you behaving badly.

No, it's making fun of an assclown of a Senator. He's a joke, and a poor one at that. I'm guessing you chastised those who called Bush names or Cheney names as well? Nah, I know better.

Re: Felons Voting Illegally May Have Put Franken Over the Top in Minnesota, Study Fin

I'll drop this. Sorry, I had no clue you were a mod.

On the other hand, you are now obligated to use the terms "Caribou Barbie" and "Darth Cheney" lest ye would appear hypocritical. ;)

Clearly you haven't been paying attention to what he's actually been doing or saying. Al Franken is actually extremely intelligent and well-spoken. And as for "falling asleep," the footage I saw had him close his eyes for maybe three seconds. Fox News cleverly cut away to try to avoid showing his eyes pop right back open.

YouTube - Franken Talks Down Angry Mob
And this isn't some political, pre-written speech. This is spontaneous questions at the State Fair.

As a Minnesotan previously extremely skeptical about electing a freaking comedian, I can now confidently say that we elected a very intelligent, competent, knowledgeable individual. That's a lot more than some other states can say.

Agreed. And here's another worth listening to.

He looks even less masculine than Anne Coulter in that picture than usual...and that takes some doing.

Re: Felons Voting Illegally May Have Put Franken Over the Top in Minnesota, Study Fin

You know what's missing in this thread? The actual 18 month study. I'd like to see that.

Ooh, a study done by a "conservative watchdog group" with an agenda. What a shock.
