NAACP calls Hallmark graduation card racist

This is beyond stupid. That card is not racist.
My problems with the NAACP are simply this, I can go on line right now pay my money and BAM Im a member. Doesnt matter color or who I am and that part is fine but this is where it gets nuts.

Monday something could happen at work, news cameras could show up and when they interview me I can say whatever I want and you know what it will say under me while im talking in a big banner. Centrist 77: member of NAACP

my other issue is now with such watered down priorities and and no rel structure is that once an issue is brought to the table they stick with it whether it is REAL or not or completely insane.

Do REAL work and leave the BS alone because its counter productive.

The Hoops and Yoyo card doesn't have anything to do with race, either....I hope you see my point.

Yep, agree 100%.

Or maybe it had nothing to do with race. Crazy I know, but dare to dream.

Yeah, but you know as well as I do what would happen if the tables were turned.

I know, and stated that in another post. I agree with you except about the "Black on white crime is ok." sarcasm.

I heard the NAACP stands for Negroes Against All Caucasion People. With stuff like this, it shows to be true.

Poor taste warning.

Poor taste is not allowed on these forums!

Completely ridiculous, fight for civil rights but find a real issue.

The real issue is sublinial racism. Is it in this card?
Racism exists; the denial of this is what is wrong/stupid.

There is absolutely no issue here though, that is what the question is.

Can you point out what is racist about the card?

This is a poor example though. They are talking about "black holes" - as in space. It has nothing to do with black women at all.

This is pretty silly.

Gee, the card refers to "the whole world," "Planets," "Saturn," "solar system" and "black ho_es."

OMG THEY MUST BE TALKING ABOUT WHORES. THERES NO WAY IT SAYS HOLES! *sigh*

But if it weren't for poor taste I wouldn't have any taste at all.

If it wasn't for poor taste, the NAACP wouldn't exist anymore.

As a society we have gotten to a point where we do not need the NAACP to point out cases of REAL racism. I feel we have a public who are well informed enough to know the difference when we read it.

Besides, the ****ty media usually does the NAACP's job for them of bringing up **** that isn't really racism and blowing it out of propotion anyways. Too often they either fail to report objectively from a neutral standpoint by getting all of the information, or deliberately ignore some parts that screw up the 'sensationalism' of a story.

This goes for most stories outside of racial tention stories as well.

One does not have a right to be offended to the point that it infringes upon another person's right to free speech; unless it's speech that calls for the deaths of people or incites a riot.

I think we're aware of that my friend.
