NKorea warns of war if punished for ship sinking

We have to remember that no Americans were killed in this attack, it was directed and affected South Koreans only. It is not the place of the US to make a policy decision for South Korea, it was their ship, their sailors, its up to them to make that decision, and perhaps consult our opinion and willingness to back them depending on what decision they make, then for us to support it. They are our ally and this ship sinking does affect our interests indirectly in Asia, but I believe South Korea should be granted the lead on making the decision on how to react to this.

I am totally with you on this. The US has a defense treaty with the ROK, so the U.S. is obliged to assist in ROK's defense. However, as it was an attack exclusively on ROK military assets (and not affecting the U.S. tripwire force along the DMZ), this should be completely Seoul's call and the U.S. (and other friendly states) should be prepared to back it 100%. This seems to be the way the Obama administration is playing it so far, and in this rare instance, I agree with the way it is being handled in Washington.

hillary is a survivor, hillary is smart, hillary separates herself

The Robert Gates-Hillary Clinton axis - Ben Smith and Jen DiMascio and Laura Rozen - POLITICO.com

"united front?"

against whom? against what?

he's an "outlier," and she's his "quick bond"

together they are the "one giant exception" to "an administration dominated by a powerful white house staff"

"the only important center of gravity outside pennsyvlania avenue"

"they're both center-right"

"clinton saves gates from political isolation as a republican inside a democratic adminstration"

smart move, ms hillary, and predictable

but it's not gonna work, you're gonna have to go if you really wanna make it anywhere

obama's foreign policy is immature and amateur

aside his and your ESCALATION of afghanistan, you guys don't really have one

not real good for a state secty

hillary shrinks everyday she stays and iran remains belligerent, hu recalcitrant, kim repugnant, calderon crass, the cartels killing...

I am starting to think this situation is much closer to war than previously realized. North Korea is cutting all ties to the South, the U.S and the South just planned war games, which is a huge provocation (and rightfully so.)

War on the Korean peninsula is really hinging on one SAM site operator acting without permission and shooting down a stray aircraft, 1 naval skirmish etc. This could get ugly quick.

Where's the administration on this? Where's Obama condemning this action that killed 46? I'll tell you where, kissing Calderon's arse that's where! :doh

What a weak coward Obama is.

What do you want, for the United States to go to war every time some country does something to another country?

I've got an idea. Why don't we back off of being the world's policeman? We can turn our attention on our own problems, use those resources to build up our own nation, and leave the world to sort out its troubles, for better or worse.

OK Obama you with no experience of any kind, lead us to glorious victory over the Chinese. So he will have Iraq, Aphghanistan, Pakistan, Korea and illegal immigrant in the form in middle east terrorsits coming in here every day. Can you spell "one term president"?

This will necessitate the re-creation of the military draft. We are obligated to join in and fight to the end. We are psread too thin as we all know now. So start getting in shape all you youngin's cuz you are hellbound real soon.

Given Obamas foreign policy decisions to date, I don't expect him to do much of anything beyond a 'harsh rebuke' and maybe some sanctions (that will accomplish little except perhaps provoke another Kim Jong tantrum).

Somehow I think Obi's teleprompteur will be able to insert a blame Bush 43 into this.

NK knew they were dealing with a member of The Ultimate Wimp Club when they called the shot on this one.

After all L'il Kim met Obi's mentor-wimp Carter, who signed a deal for another mega-wimp Cliton; an agreement violated before the ink could dry on Ill Kim's signature.

My bet is Obi's gone through a few boxes of Depends.

After 911 the despot's watched Bush to see if he would pull a Clinton... wag his finger and make hollow threats. He didn't and we ended up discovering a nuke blackmarket.

President Bow-Wow-Wow? This ought to be interesting. He of course has superior judgment, and a sidekick with slapstick timing.

.

Yay...just what we need. Another f'n war. Maybe we'll get an official declaration of war on this one. *coughs*

Well we know what happened when Clinton wagged his finger on International TV and said we would hunt down the terrorists. Don't we?

Don't we? Don't we???

For those who may have been teething or breast feeding at the time, the terror attacks became more spectacular and aggressive as the years passed. It's the same as with Kids... give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile.

So we went from some bombs here and there, to the first WTC bombing, American Embassies bombed, US Warships, Bali and 911.

Talk is cheap, and the terrorists saw right through Clinton, and assumed we were a bunch of ******s. They think the same of Obama, because he has proven to be an MLP (Major League *****) All Star.

Wait a minute here....Joint exercises as a show of strength is a "huge provocation"? What was sinking a ship killing 46? Business as normal?

My jaw is hitting the desk here....NK sinks a ship, and all we should do is what? Send a letter? Can we type it in bold type so that Il knows we are really, really serious this time?

Ok diplomatic and military expert.... what should we do? Outline a complete and detailed plan of action... we have a rogue nation which may or may not have nuclear weapons, which could destroy seoul. We have a million men facing eachother on either side which will become a bloodbath.

Even your precious Ronald Reagan wouldn't have been stupid enough to start a war at this point because we won't know what we're up against. And unfortunately because of China getting tougher sanctions might not be possible (Not that it does anything except hurt the people, the elite in North Korea still get their Champagne and Rolls Royces.)

I think Obama should go over there and Bow to L'il Kim and tell him we are sorry for the hardship we have wrought on his volk.

After that, we could scrabble together a few hundred billion to assist his economy. Being smaller than ours it wouldn't cost a trillion. The following trillion would be based on good behavior.

Obi can call it "spreading the wealth around for world peace".

Then Obi could suggest he would like a few of L'il Kim's staffers as political advisers. Military perhaps too. Maybe we could give them secrets to perfect their rockets. Ah Snap! Clinton let the ChiComs have that intel, and they probably passed some on to their L'il Buddy.

Let's see. Can we send Carter again? His last deal lasted 2 seconds after he left the NK airspace. That should make L'il Kim feel all warm and fuzzy, and the Libs can pound their chests and say... we took tough action.

Perhaps we can send Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. The three could sit together and complain about how evil America is. Jesse, Al and L'il Kimmy could sit around and swap info on how to extort money. Oh damn... I forgot, he could sent Reverend Wright and terror buddy William Ayers. They'll get along like five peas in a pod.

I think those are Obama's options.

After his bowing and groveling tour, maybe Obi can tee it up with L'il Kim. Kimmy shot what? 35 under in his first round. He might be able to give Obi a few tips for the next election. That Yes We Can BS ain't gonna fool'em twice.

Thanks for answering the question :2wave:

Money?

What the **** is that?

I know about credit, debt, loans, and mortgages but this money thing is nonsense.

Nobody legal pays their employees in bills.

I know! We'll fight a war where millions will die! Shoot a missile to take out North Korean Elvis and watch Seoul burn to the ground as thousands of artillery tubes retaliate!

Sounds like Hyperbole, partisan, extreme right wing talking points we've come to know

Hey, I am an unabashed right winger, and enjoy poking sticks in the eyes of My Old Team.

I used to be just like you and so many lefties here. I was a pacifist, pro-death, anti-death penalty, government loving moron.

As each year passed and the air miles went through the roof I realized, little by little what a pile of destructive crap I'd been fed. It sounded good, may have even worked out OK on paper, but under the harsh lights of the real world it failed everywhere. Socialism fails to take into account human behavior; self interest. The USSR was a great example. The small Black Market produced items that people wanted and were far more efficient.

A view of poor performance of Soviet collective farms is provided by two historians, M. Heller and A. Nekich ("Utopia in Power, History of the Soviet Union from 1917 to Present," Simon & Schuster, Inc., 1986). The authors report that in 1979, 28% of the Soviet agricultural production was from small plots of private citizens, which represented less than 1% of the cultivated land.

I met a ton of people that lived under the burden of oppressive governments, and I'm not talking about Commies behind the Iron Curtain. They had to cheat to keep their heads and businesses above water. It was sobering to watch people at the mercy of a piggish government. People that sweated out payrolls, tough times, had sleepless nights or nights at the office trying to keep their business alive... while the workers demanded more and the government piled on more burdens. It is sickening. These governments think and treat businesses as social programs; a mere extension of the state. And then complain when they escape to more friendly places.

I couldn't stand to live a lie... which is what socialism is. It is why the Left courts the young, dumb and full of cum crowd with a passion. They know the mass of kids react to emotion and not intellect. They're too young and idealistic to know any better.

Excellent question on the board here. What do you think should be done? Where should we draw the line for what is unacceptable? If another ship or two were to catch a torpedo in the next year or so, do we take action then?

The little NK prick is a problem. China as a "guardian" of the little prick is a concern. My leaning would be that we do something just to taunt him, and then if he over-reacts we "ice the ****er...."

Well, I acquire info from a whole spectrum of sources... and can reference decades of life experience in the private sector dealing with bureaucrats in an array of countries. You know... the real world. Where government roadblocks make it easier for those who know the ropes. (That's the dirty secret... those that know the game or can pay to learn it can make huge cash... while the masses get shut out; the barrier to entry is too high, costly and unpredictable) Your government at work for the people ROTFLMFAO.

I was out and about learning the ways of the world without FOXNEWS or talk radio or internet. One didn't exist and the other was pretty much non-existent... and was non-existent for 9 to 10 months a year when I was overseas. Your excuse for ignorance is what exactly? Kanuckistani school system? Inbred dislike of America? Love for Trudeau? Inquiring minds want to know.

Perhaps it's all the al Jazeera you watch?
After all, FOXNEWS wasn't permitted by the Kanuckistani's but al Jazeera was. Seems the Go'ment knows it audience... eh Hosehead?

I know you Kanuckistani's very, very well... such an open minded group of drones.
So open minded Ann Coulter's speech was canceled.
