Blumenthal's words on Vietnam Service differ from History

3 of the first 10 posts in this thread are liberals condemning him. More condemned him further in.

Certainly not everyone, and certainly not you. But still......wow.

So a couple democrats, but you just say "The support among Dems for this guy". Very interesting...

There's more:

The Plum Line - Blumenthal: "I wore the uniform in Vietnam"

The Stamford Advocate is now claiming to have unearthed another damning quote from Richard Blumenthal, this time from the Veterans Day parade in Stamford on November 9th, 2008:

"I wore the uniform in Vietnam and many came back to all kinds of disrespect. Whatever we think of war, we owe the men and women of the armed forces our unconditional support."

Here is a column written by a writer for the St Louis Post dispatch, who is a Vet that served in Nam,who was in fact drafted(no deferments left for him).;)

< Curry reported that Blumenthal received standard student deferments while in Harvard, and then, after graduating in 1967, obtained another educational deferment while studying in Britain. He later received an occupational deferment — described as a "rare exemption" from military service for men who contended that it was in the national interest for them to remain in their civilian jobs. At the time, Blumenthal was working as a special assistant to Washington Post publisher Katherine Graham, whose son he had met at Harvard.>

< Then Blumenthal went to work in the Nixon White House and obtained another occupational deferment, and finally, when those special deferments were considered shaky, he found a spot in the Marine Corps Reserves. The New York Times quoted Curry: "The Reserves were not being activated for Vietnam and were seen as a shelter for young privileged men.">

< I figured then — and figure now — that it's easy to make an inadvertent error late at night when you're working at a bar at which guys are drinking large quantities of beer and recounting battles that might not show up in history books, if you know what I mean. You say it once — "Hey, did I ever mention I was a SEAL?" — and you're locked into it.>

< This situation with Blumenthal is different. No late night beers, no shared mis-recollections. Instead, crisp memories about his service, including memories of coming home from Vietnam and being taunted.>

< A Vietnam veteran and captain of the Harvard swim team? The Democrats in Connecticut would be better off with a Frank Sinatra. Or a Mama Cass. Or anybody.>

I’m with Bill on this one, the Dems would be wise to look for someone else. This ones done stick a fork in him.The rest of the column is at the link, pretty good read.:2wave:

dirtbag you say
this marine veteran
this individual who is an advocate for assistance to our returning soldiers
that was the advocacy he expressed within that video
and yes, he began his remarks by distinguishing between his reservist duty and that he did not serve in vietnam
careless? absolutely. dirtbag ... i would reserve that expression for those who take potshot against American veterans

Your head cannot be that far up the ass of your ideology!

A liar is a liar...potential benefit to your "belief system" be damned.

(Means to an end... Alinsky's teachings found their mark, huh?)

I wonder when lefties will attempt to deflect from Blumenthal's blatant, despicable lies by blaming, or attempting to present equivilency arguments centered around GWB?

What's that? ... Oh, they already have? .... crap.... late to the dance once again.

Far more rewarding, intellectually stimulating, and easy on the blood pressure than conversing with lefty apologists :)

1969, huh?

Blumenthal just "accidentally" said that your Camaro served in Vietnam when he meant to say it was from the Vietnam era.

The support among Dems for this guy is eerily similar to Clinton-Lewinsky. Some will defend anything.

I get a kick out of rightees constant use of their favorite, and only, attack of Clinton to be funny beyond belief. The attack on Clinton was one of the most egregious misuses of power by Republicans in recent history.

That being said, this imbicile, with his disjointed idea of honor and honesty, doesn't deserve to be an Attorney General. But, as with all these goof balls, it's up to the people of his state to vote him out.

How is that hope and change working out for you? Apparently we have a different definition of respect. Now we have Chicago style politicians misusing power but ADK always talks abour Republicans. Judicial Watch disagrees.

Blumenthal is a Republican?

Judicial Watch? Seriously? Why don't you just point people to Cark Roove's blog? :doh

Yet Media Matters, Moveon, and MSNBC are credible in your world, :rofl

As usual it is all about the messenger with you and not the message. Why you continue to buy what this President says tells us all a lot about you.

you want so badly to believe your choice was right that you ignore the results of that choice. Democrats can say or do whatever they want and be ignored by people like you when those results generate the kind of results we have today. there is a reason that the majority in this country are waking up. When will you join them?

Judicial Watch........LOL

All you need is one name..............:wow:......Richard Mellon Scaife.......:2rofll:

Yet George Soros is right on?:rofl John Podesta? Keith Olbermann? Obama supporters provide true entertainment.

I realize you people hate those news orgs but, they do expose Repub talking points, which I suppose is why you don't like them.

Did you type that with a straight face? Seriously:confused:

again...

Who is Cark Roove? You are indeed confused as you bought into the Obama rhetoric and ignore the Obama results. I do feel your pain.

It doesn't matter to you the content of the source because the source matters more than content in your world. You belong in the Chicago political machine. Problem is when this country crashes and burns you are going to be right there with the rest of us. Let us know how that rhetoric works for you then

Yep, who is carl roove? You really are confused so thanks for admitting it.

I don't blame you, so much hope and so little to show for it. I would be confused too if I bought the rhetoric and got to little return on my investment.

Thought Blumenthal was a Democrat in Connecticut but after Chris Dodd and his involvement with Countrywide, I doubt you have the ability to even comprehend what is legal and illegal.

Don't act like the same wouldn't happen if roles reversed.

No, I don't think that the same would happen. Honestly, and although in the recent times Repubs have moved more toward demo ideals of circling the wagons of their own misdeeds, however, the general road that happens is that demo's would circle the wagons, and dismiss this outright lie, and character flaw for the ends, while repubs usually sacrifice this sort of moral misgiving because of ideals.

j-mac

He did serve during the vietnam era, that was what he was referring to.

Again, shall we list all the Bush misspeaks and the fact he did not seek to correct them?
c'mon....the guy out and out lied.
