Garcia was serving her sentence in the high-security Manto Negro prison

A Cuban appeal court has quashed the jail sentence given to dissident journalist Dania Garcia and given her a minor fine instead.

Ms Garcia, a blogger who writes for US-based opposition websites, had been sentenced to 20 months in jail after a domestic row with her daughter.

She was charged with abuse of authority for mistreating the 23-year-old, who disapproved of her political activism.

Human Rights groups said the charges were politically motivated.
García was arrested April 22 on charges of "abuse of maternal authority'' and the next day was tried, convicted and sentenced to 20 months in prison. She was sent to the country's largest prison for women, Manto Negro.

Dania Virgen García is a blogger and independent journalist. As a member of a group that support the Ladies in White, often march with them. She is a courageous woman on the side of freedom. On the other side are the military regime mobs that try to intimidate those women marching in support of their relatives still in prison.

Does anyone here find any fault with the lightning arrest, trial and imprisonment of this woman? 48 hours only, with no time to prepare a defense, for discovery of the facts, or to question witnesses. Can anyone doubt that this is a political persecution? In the Castros military dictatorship, all citizens are guilty until proven innocent. Selective enforcement allows them to arrest and send to jail, at their will and whim, just about anyone at any time.

Arrest, trial, conviction, and sentencing within 24 hours?

lol, way to make it seem plausible, Cuba.

Because the intense light of scrutiny, the regime back down from the harsh sentence imposed on Diana. The lights will continue to shine down on them, and as its strength continues to grow, the light of truth will eventually reach deep into the darkness of the system. The truth will set them free. New technology has allowed all of this to come to light. Dania Garcia understands this, which prompted her to state the following when she was released from prison, "I feel that one more time, we will overcome, once again, we the Cuban opposition, the human rights, once again we're winning and we will continue to win." Amen.

Diana was turned in for counter-revolutionary activities by her own 23-year-old daughter, a product of the regimes despicable indoctrination of children. Castro brothers’ regime has succeeded in breaking apart the fabric of the Cuban family, causing division and disruption among family members. The family use to be the back bone of the Cuban legacy, but after50 years of Castrofacismo not any more.

After several months of the Castros regime latest repressive wave, the death of the hunger striker Orlando Zapata, seven years after the Black Spring, and two and a half years of the dynastic fascist succession of power, something is starting to change in the hell hole of the Castro brothers.
