Principal tells parent to 'eat s--- and die'

Are people really that sensitive? I mean yeah sure it wasn't the cleverest thing in the world, but if she's good at her job...

The principle, like many public servants, has an intense disdain for the public that she serves. She just happened to get caught expressing it.

I'm sure the teacher's union will defend her though, and she'll get a promotion and a raise.

You can get your point across in a direct manner while maintaining professionalism. There is no excuse for dropping a professional demeanor while conducting business as a representative fo your organization.

None.

Obviously you have never sold cars or advertising. Don't get me wrong because I do agree with you to a point, but sometimes being blunt about what you think can help.

that's not always my experience
sometimes you have to fit in, which means adopting a less than professional demeanor
as a young man i did real property appraisals. found out that the approach to working for the conservative real estate agent in the city was much different than what was required to successfully work for the conservative farm owner
when i finally realized that i needed to take my pickup to the farm, while wearing jeans, instead of driving a BMW and wearing a tie, the cooperation, additional work and enjoyment of my job was substantially enhanced. being able to speak bubba made things even better
similarly, i disagree with goof noodle's expectation that all of his business relationships respond to him in the direct manner he wants:
... I personally love working with/for/above people that will tell me to my face what they think of me. Lets me know where we stand and it helps to get deals done much faster when we are forced to work together.
that approach will seldom work in the far east. the old school asian business man is never going to tell you "no" directly. instead he will say "yes" in a very nuanced way so that you will be expected to understand he has actually said "no" ... but in such a way which allows you to save face

and back on subject, nothing about that school principal's actions could be found professional - which is why she will soon be promoted up the ranks to join those of similar ilk

reflects the tone of her leadership and the poverty of her intellectual thought

There - quote of the century right there. I love the wording of that "poverty of her intellectual thought" - so brainy

Two years after I graduated high school, I went back to my original high school (the one I was in before I dropped out) to visit one of my teachers. We ate lunch together in the staff lounge. There were a couple of new teachers there but most of them were the same as when I attended, and they all pretty much remembered me. Man, were they ever cursing. It was shocking to hear it. It was like, because I was alumni they didn't care anymore.

I've also worked in some corporate offices and it's pretty much the same deal. Management all have potty mouths, but when it comes to PR they act all nicey nice.

Yeah, the principal was out of line, but I think her biggest mistake was sending the e-mail to the wrong person. In the professional world, when it comes to internal affairs a lot of stuff is off the record, and a lot of it would make your jaw drop.

And let's not even mention the kinds of e-mails that get forwarded around.
