WATERTOWN, Mass. - Federal agents conducted Thursday morning raids in Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey in connection with the failed Times Square car bomb and arrested three people, including two Pakistani men who provided money to the suspect, Faisal Shahzad, law enforcement officials said.

The searches were the product of evidence gathered in the investigation into Shahzad's alleged bombing attempt two weeks ago, but there was "no known immediate threat to the public or any active plot against the United States," FBI spokeswoman Gail Marcinkiewicz said.

Based on the method of attack, an organized group of morons at best.

If anything, this just shows that the tentacles of intelligence are doing their job. Terrorists are being so suffocated now that Muslim cronies probably just peruse the local Radio Shacks and recruit anyone with a tan.

You know, more money doesn't always mean more results. I'm not defending cuts, but what I am saying, throwing money at a problem doesnt always fix it, even if you spent a trillion dollars on defending one city, there's nothing that could stop a random dude from as happened, parking a car and walking away, I mean if it was better planned and done, he could have detonated it while walking away from it.

And another thing, not talking to you Prof. But if most conservatives on this site believe, that government shouldn't provide them with healthcare, welfare and any other benefits, why should they provide protection from terrorists? I mean surely getting sick and getting attacked by a terrorist, is a random event you can't control... so by your logic, people should have to fend for themselves against terrorists as they should fend for themselves against sickness. I mean if everyone practised their second amendment rights and had a gun, then you should have to fight off the terrorists yourself. end of story.

i'm (as always) talking politics, not merits

arguments about rights and wrongs, shoulds and shouldn'ts, in my opinion, are for kids

and, for good or ill, obama IS losing new yorkers

he IS losing big money donors (he used to lead the stratosphere with them)

he IS losing the media

he's a very clumsy pol, he just doesn't know how to play the game, it shows in his every move

it's as if he hasn't spent much time in this country

you don't go around pissing off aipac, for example, in this country for nothing

The difference, in my mind, is that protection from terrorists is part of the primary purpose the US government is charged with - Namely, protecting the USA and it's citizens.

And I don’t consider Healthcare and welfare to be part of that.

Or at least, not on the scale or in the manner that they are currently applied.
