DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Nine people were indicted Wednesday on federal charges of accessing President Barack Obama's student loan records while they were employed for a Department of Education contractor in Iowa.
The U.S. attorney's office said a grand jury returned the indictments in U.S. District Court in Davenport.

All nine are charged with exceeding authorized computer access. They are accused of gaining access to a computer at a Coralville office where they worked between July 2007 and March 2009, and accessing Obama's student loan records while he was either a candidate for president, president-elect or president.

I am wondering whether or not these guys were birthers or such, attempting to dig up dirt. At any rate, they are all looking at up to a year in prison for what they did. I hope they learn a lesson here.

Meanwhile, I am kind of happy that Obama was on the receiving end of being spied on. He promised to end government spying on American citizens, but he didn't. Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

They were definitely trying to find out if Barry went to school on foreign student loans.... and yes, karma is a bitch, but what can he expect when he hides all of his records?

(Karma is not some mysterious force.... it's what happens when you piss a bunch of people off)

And I guess he didn't, otherwise you would be trumpeting it from the rooftops. Glad we could put another rumor to rest, it's just a shame that these nine brave patriots had to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Maybe, maybe not..... I didn't see anything about them actually getting into the records, did you?

I guess that is like all of the law suites that have been lost.

You know what? You're right.

They are accused of gaining access to a computer at a Coralville office where they worked between July 2007 and March 2009, and accessing Obama's student loan records while he was either a candidate for president, president-elect or president.

Each of eight indictments posted by Wednesday night were brief, saying the charged individual "intentionally exceeded authorized access to a computer and thereby obtained information from a department and agency of the United States" and "intentionally accessed student loan records" of Obama without authorization.

It's exactly like the lawsuit situation, in that you've once again failed to read beyond the headline, causing you to miss critical information that would highlight the flaws in your conspiracy theories.

What these men did was illegal and they deserve jail time just like the guy who hacked Palin's email deserves jail time. Spying is illegal, and Obama is entitled to his own privacy as are the rest of us.

Yes it did, read again.

And logically, if they had found the damning evidence, it would have been published.

Point 2 -- do these jamokes really think the GOP didn't have much more competent people looking into everything Obama back in 2007-2008??

That's what gets me about the birthers, they think they're smarter than Hilary and the GOPs political operatives.

News flash -- No you're not.

Did the government employees that accessed information about Joe The Plumber for political gain go to jail too?

There is a difference.

1) College records are private.

2) Plumbing licenses are public record. When someone claims to be a plumber, and he isn't, it is easy to find out by looking in PUBLIC RECORDS.

Duh!

No not Duh, government employees pulled up his records of his marriage and his tax records, and I am sure more but I don't remember tham all, to dig up something.

I don't see a difference other than one is a private citizen and the other is a public figure.

Suspended for a month without pay.
Ohio IG Report: Joe the Plumber's Records Were Improperly Searched | 44 | washingtonpost.com

"Ohio's Inspector General concluded in a report that Jones-Kelley had wrongly authorized searches of Wurzelbacher through records kept on child support payments, temporary aid to families and unemployment benefits."

Exactly. That person used a government computer without authorization. Souns like the same case to me.

One suspension and the other jail time.

My how times have changed.

Had this been Bush the press would have sung a song about too much secrecy, whistle blowers, rallied around these people etc...

If they had done it to Bush, they might have gotten a Cabinet position of some sort.

I'm surprised you didn't attack Obama for having student loans.

My bad..... I read another article from another source earlier in the morning and just assumed it was the same as was linked. That article said diddle about results of their search. Bad dog..... no biscuit.

I'd still like to know what they found, but my bet is that part of a plea deal will be to keep their mouths shut.... I wonder if real hackers will take up the challenge, and you can bet that hidden records are a challenge.

Dana would have sung the song.

Dana would have sung the song.

I hope you don't mind if I call you a dickhead right now. If you had read all of my OP, you would clearly see that I am bashing Obama, and not Bush. Duh!!

So that I can refresh your memory, that is, if you have at least 2 brain cells you can rub together and make a memory, here is the end of my post:

Once again, reading is fundamental. And don't be a dickhead.

So spying against the NAZI's by allied troops was illegal, too?

Hang on chief. As much as I hate Obama I can't even bring myself to compare him to a Nazi. Nazis were white don't you know that? Lol

What's Barry hiding? And why is accessing his records grounds for a year in jail?

I find it hard to believe the County prosecutor would be as zealous if someone hacked into my college records.

There is no difference as far as who the individuals are. However, school records are private records while a plumbing license is part of the public domain. So, in that sense if all the culpretes did was accessed Joe the Plumber's plumbing license well...no real harm done. But since they went beyond that and accessed his private records as the Ohio IG has reported, then they deserve whatever punishment the law allows same as those who attempt to access the President's college records.

To all those supporting this sort of activity:

Post your social security number and bank account number. The People demand to know.

Nah... let's keep a focus on his incompetence, his friends, and his anti-American ways. You know... his desire to Change America to Amerika.

Obi was a student? Really? ...Karl Marx Universität?

This thread is about 9 people being indicted for accessing Obama records. Please use one of the hundreds of other "Bash Obama" threads for this stuff.
