What Brown while in power never realised is that ordinary people, those who have a say in any election, have their own opinions, which while they may be at odds with those held by Brown are none the less important.
Politicians go out to canvas support from those they think will be more in tune with their policy's, it is anyone's right to question any Politician seeking office, for any Politician to belittle that person's right to ask questions is to deny them either common courtesy as well as denying them Democratic free speech.
Brown committed the cardinal sin of spouting his beliefs while having his lapel microphone switched on.
Tough, however whether his belittlement of this one lady cost him a term as an ELECTED PM I would not like to guess.
I rather imagine he was Politically doomed anyway.
What does surprise me is that other members of the Labour Government are not as supportive of the way that Brown thinks.
This tends to give me hope for UK Politics.
