Obama bemoans 'diversions' of IPod, Xbox era

Attacks on who? Obama or CC? I don't attack CC until his hypocrisy shows itself.

Just remember who fired the first personal salvo. YOU. Other than standard debating, I've kept to my word.

As for Obama, he's the President, what for I should do on a POLITICAL DEBATE FORUM? Not discuss decisions and comments he makes I find wrong/repulsive/dangerous/dumb? Should I just wait till he does something I agree with then cheer him on?

Absolutely not. Dissension, dispute, and differences are some of the things that make this country great. A little critical analysis without blind following would be nice, though.

No need for hyperbole. You and a few others on this site attack Obama for everything. Even when there is nothing there to attack about you come up with some wacked out way of blaming him for something. Why not wait for things that are blatantly worthy of criticism? Lord knows there's plenty there to work with.

IYes, I have attacked him for EVERYTHING! How about that scathing I gave him for the slow response to the oil spil... OH WAIT, I didn't...

I agree. They are just as bad as the hardcore liberals who attacked Bush for everything. They feel turnabout is fair play, which is understandable. However, they end up looking just as bad as the people that they are getting back at. The sad thing is, they don't realize that by attacking Obama for EVERYTHING, it kind of dismisses their argument when they complain about things that are actually worthy of criticism.

When Bush was President, it was idiotic watching the extreme liberals go after him for everything. I remember when Sadaam was finally captured, every criticism they could come up with, they presented. Now, we see the extreme conservatives doing the same thing. I disagree that it is understandable. Makes them look equally as ridiculous as the liberals who preceded them... and makes their positions look as irrelevant.

Do you have any evidence you can back up these charges you are making against him with or are you simply dealing in generalities for fun?

Are you trying to tell me that Obama isn't Stalin and Bush isn't Hitler? Tell me it ain't true!!!!

Moderator's Warning:
I think you would know better than to make a personal attack such as this. Do it again, and there will be further consequences.

I see you edited your personal attack response to me to give us another example of you abusing your mod powers.

I never once said you had NPD so there was no personal attack nor did I ever mention you by name once..

Editing out your attack against me and putting in the "Warning" instead is Classic CC.

Thanks for staying predictable.

Uh oh.....

Uhoh all you want. His response before he turned it into a warning was an attack against me. He said that I never reply with anything of value or something to that effect.

Only later did he remove it for a mod warning.

can you show me where I personally attacked him?

I, for one, caught the veiled inference, if that counts for anything...

Veiled inference isn't a personal attack. Claiming someone never posts anything of value is a personal attack. But he deleted that.

I'll admit I didn't catalog each post, nor follow the thread scrupulously. I rarely do, frankly.

Wow, you found one issue where you didn't attack Obama! I'm sure that was difficult for you. Again, there's no need for your hyperbole.

I think there is a good point to the article and what Obama is saying. With all the information out there, and with some much commentary and editorial being misrepresented as information, what I get that he is saying is that people have to be very discerning with what they are hearing and need to be evaluators. In this day and age, many expect news and information to be handed to us, forgetting that the source of where that information is coming has a huge impact on what that information actually means.

I think it is important for us to recognize that what the President says, in this situation, holds value. Too much information is just info-tainment.
I think we need another govt program to fix this.

That was merely an example of how wrong you are about me. I don't attack him for everything, and why is it an "attack" just because I disagree?

BTW I wonder how many times you popped into the rabid Palin threads and chastised those that attack.. everything she does. I'm betting you haven't once.

You attack him on everything that you can tie him to. For instance, on this particular issue he had a very valid point. However, you found a way to blame him for something. It just gets old.

You are no better than the liberals who attacked Palin, Bush, etc. for everything under the sun.

BTW I wonder how many times you popped into the rabid Palin threads and chastised those that attack.. everything she does. I'm betting you haven't once.

And you would be wrong.

Why don't you see for yourself?

AFP: Obama bemoans 'diversions' of IPod, Xbox era

I.E. They cannot control the media. They cannot control the spin.

Well there certainly is spin, that's for sure. But Obama is right on this one. Well it's not the XBox's fault or anything, but the aggregated effect of our technology and the speed at which we can get information. And because our appetite for entertainment seems never ending, we have leeched that desire into the dissemination of our information as well. To such a point that we cannot seemingly tell fact from fiction.

The news has become nothing more than a little song and dance. Crap which competes with other crap for crap ratings and in the process, everything is brought down to some base level of reality TV "entertainment". The "News" medias become propaganda blowhorns where it's not information which is given; but opinion spun with stories and hyperbole. There's no rational thought left, there's no logic behind anything. It's all partisan rhetoric and propaganda. One side vs. the other; and the People lose no matter what. But they got us because we've stopped paying attention. We'd rather listen to Ann Coulter than read a book about finance or economy or how the fed works or political philosophy.

The news....the news is crap. And what Obama is saying isn't wrong. Though it's not the XBox's fault or even the IPod...it's ours. We've become distracted and let this all happen. We ****ed up. If we want to keep this Republic, in all it's glory, with it's liberties and freedoms intact...then we have to wake up. Quit listening so fervently to these Sean Hannity's and the like; the propaganda mongers. Start educating ourselves, reading more, participating, understanding, thinking.

Y'all may want to perpetuate this problem, exacerbate the effects. Because Obama said it, it has to be wrong...he must be saying he can't control...blah blah blah. Same level of **** we've been fed by the shovel load.

Don't think, just react. Ignorance is strength.

It's always amazed me how so many libertarians end up being so elitist, without really realizing the contradiction.

There was hardly anything elitist in that rant. I mean, if you have something actual to add; go ahead. But stupid little comments without logic to back up the claim are just that; stupid little comments. And stupid little comments do very little for advancing the debate or considering the direction. So if you have more stupid little comments, please feel free to keep them to yourselves. If you have something thought out which pertains to the subject matter at hand, then by all means contribute.

The President is correct in warning the youth about the pitfalls of much of the current adoption of technology.

It's funny how the centrists, libertarians, and moderates seem to grok this, but the hardcore conservative koolaid drinkers have their panties in a wad.
