Students Wearing American Flag Shirts Sent Home

As always, j-mac, you are completely missing the point.

I'm putting down and demeaning the jackass teenage boys who were too clever for their own good.

And their mommies who stared blankly at Bill O'Reilly when he asked them: "Why?" Why did the little darlings choose that particular day to get all patriotic inside? No answer.

Why should any day be banned from displaying pride for your own country, espically when you are the one standing in it?

j-mac

Si -- as is mocking Cinco de Mayo by calling it Corona y Limon.

BTW - you do realize you're saying Corona and Lemon (not LIME)?:rofl

Anyway, yes, the little darlings thought they'd be cute and show their Mexican-American classmates a thing or two... Yuck-yuck, aren't we clever? We're Americans and this is America, so put down your silly guitars and take off those ridiculous costumes and get back work cleaning my house and mowing my lawn. And make me a taco while your at it.

24hrs later...

Mommy, tell them we were just being patriots. Why are they so mad at us? I think Consuela spit in my Tang. Why is she mad at me, mommy? We didn't mean anything by it.

Whats more pathetic and sickening is you dont support these guys right to show their American pride on a day Americans have no business celebrating, yet, you seem to enjoy the actions of Ms. "Consuela" as justifiable.

This is the problem with race relations is the USA. People react to something minor and not even directly offensive with violence and get applauded for it.

Its just not acceptable. You sir, I question whether you are worthy of being American.

Perhaps the same reason some celebrate Christmas even though Christianity came from another country. Many people bring their traditions with them, but in the Mexican's case their ancestors were probably here first.

Religious Holiday does not compare with STATE holiday.

This does not compute.

I've seen the shirt, and I don't see a damn thing wrong with it.

I'm not one of these silly "flag code" nazis.

So sad. So hypocritical. Silly flag code? Sounds like you don't have any respect for our flag at all. Another faux patriot. You probably think it's OK to burn it in protest.

Good question: Let's put it in a specific CONTEXT.

You're wearing an American Flag t-shirt and bandanna to the Puerto Rican day parade in New York. Why not?

Context 1: You're hanging with your friend and his Puerto Rican grandmother, singing, dancing, eating, enjoying the celebration of culture.

Context 2: You and three friends (all dressed like you) are standing off by yourselves, eyeing everyone else with distain.

In which context are you likely to get your ass kicked?
Why do you support a minority's violent reactions to non-violent messages?

That is MY problem with your defense of this whole thing.

But as described in the story, they were sitting off by themselves when several students approached them and asked why they chose to wear the flag bandanas and t-shirts.
The idiots who approached them are not the persons you should be defending you know it.

Why is it that liberals defend free expression up until its being used to express pro-America views?

3)Lastly, the four boys didn't break any rules. Didn't violate school policy. They were just being dicks, plain and simple. Trying to push some buttons, get a reaction from other students.
Why is it acceptable for Mexican-AMERICAN students to have a negative reaction to the American flag?

Sorry, but it is true.

Sorry, but it's not. There are religious holidays that are celebrated across nations and cultures and then there are state commemorations that are particular to a nation. Some are federally recognized while others are simply days of observance.

So no, you are flat out wrong on this count.

Of course it is. It's a piece of fabric.

I'm a patriot for what the US flag stands for, not the piece of fabric itself. The piece of fabric itself is meaningless. Just cotton and dye. What it stands for is what's important.

And hypocritical? How ya figure?

Should all holidays that are not part of your culture be banned? Some people still have ties to other countries and there is nothing wrong with that. My wife is an immigrant and still observes her national holidays and traditions. It's part of who she is. This is still a free country.

And there is nothing wrong with that.

Lets say im in London. Its July 4th and i'm out hanging out with my American buddies in London. Some guy comes in the restaraunt/bar wearing a full Brittish flag designed 'leisure suit' or some ****. Something like you'd see on Austin Powers movies.

Is he being a dick? Am I 'expected' to get angry? Is it acceptable to get angry?

No. Its ****ing retarded to even suggest that my three questions are acceptable at all.

Sometimes you have to show the Americans as the ones being disrespected before the liberals can understand.

Or should I have just said 'swoon' instead of understand?

Please show me where I 'supported' violence.

The idiots who approached them are not the persons you should be defending you know it.

So, when I say someone is 'wrong', you take that to mean I'm 'defending' them. And when I said they shouldn't be so thin-skinned...

Why is it that liberals defend free expression up until its being used to express pro-America views?

Why are far-righties only capable of making strawmen?

Why is it acceptable for Mexican-AMERICAN students to have a negative reaction to the American flag?

Their negative reaction wasn't too the flag. But I've only said that 5 other times in this thread.

Then what was it to?

What were the students doing other than just wearing the flag?

So if I put on an American flag and chant USA, USA, I can do and say anything I want???:(

I think he was asking what the kids were doing, and not making any inference at all about what you might do.

Since the principal didn't send them home for anything other than the shirts, one would have to conclude that they weren't doing anything out of the ordinary.

Yes... You completely avoided the question.

So if I put on an American flag and chant USA, USA, I can do and say anything I want???:(

Yes, apparently the U.S. Flag has the power of purification.

Any person(s) carrying, holding, waving, or wearing the U.S. Flag can do anything they want, because they are just being patriotic.:roll:

So I see you are also refusing to answer the question.

WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

That's not the argument anyone has made here.

Nobody gave me an internet.

I dont think we are getting the whole story. If all they were doing was wearing the American Flag, then I support them. However, if they used any racial slurs or threats, the principle was justified. That is NOT the way to honor the flag.
