Students Wearing American Flag Shirts Sent Home

All this hiding behind "Flag Code" and etiquette. wondering if someone could point me to the section in the code where burning and stomping on a flag in protest is listed as acceptable in the code?

i am absolutely it is not illegal
just as it is not illegal to burn the flag
it is a violation of flag etiquette to wear the flag as part of one's costume
and of course, so is the burning of the American flag a breach of flag etiquette

Who said it is acceptable flag etiquette to burn the flag (outside what is already in the code of disposing of a flag that is)?

Not really in this conversation, but you reminded me of something some years ago. A student got up to give a speech and started ripping a Bible. It offended a good number of people, no surprise really. But the interesting thing was that the point of his speech was that too many people cared about the artifact, the book itself, and not enough about the words contained in the book. Some think he proved his point, but few ever heard what he was saying.

The Flag is a symbol, important as such, but we should never lose what it symbolizes for the sake of the symbol.

To be fair, I wasn't hiding behind a 'flag code'...

I was siting the more relevant-- "Don't be a dick" code.

The goofballs in the U.S. flag shirts and bandannas are, however, hiding their dickishness behind "I just wanted to show my patriotism."

Not true. The way it is used in spanish limon is lime and limon real is the yellow lemon.

Cinco de mayo is a fake holiday made up by corona to sell cervesas (thats beers) to gringos (that's us).....


It is a minor holiday in puebla, and not celebrated in all of mexico.

This is America jack. The American flag on an old navy t-shirt is never "offensive". we as Americans should be more offended by the Mexicans behavior on corona y limon day than they were of us....
