Laura Bush book suggests poison at German summit

Because I don't go around making unsubstantiated claim about being poisoned while visiting the US.

If you suspected that you WERE poisoned while visiting the US, I certainly wouldn't begrudge you for mentioning it.

Why are you so offended, anyway? It's not like she blamed anyone. You Euros are so sensitive sometimes.

Anyway, I'd still prefer for you to stuff it. Laura's a sweet lady.

I don't even understand what your line of thought was and what did you expect to gain by bringing up such issues.

Hmmm... Perhaps gathering all the conservative hacks in one nice thread:)

In other words, trolling.
And from all places you've decided to troll in the breaking news section.
Dangerous - but your call.

I'll let the moderation team handle this. Au revoir. :2wave:

Were we not talking about the POTUS, as in President Of The United States?

I do not recall us trying to kill any of YOUR leaders, that is all.

And logic dictates that because it never happened doesn't mean it couldn't or for that matter, that poison wasn't used in this particular case. Secondly, who says this was an assassination attempt? I didn't see that particular charge by the OP quotation. And who says, if they were poisoned, that it was a French person who did it? Couldn't it have been almost anyone who was at this conference - which I might recall, had many different country's represented?

The point is, just because something hasn't happened historically, doesn't mean it won't happen or in this case, did. Do they conveniently fail to teach logic in European schools or is this a difficult concept and I'm just unaware... ?

Oh the troll call, how nice!

Why do you have a go at me for reporting this?

Why don't you question Laura Bush's motivation instead?

:2wave:

Is this thread going anywhere?

Your military has tried to kill Saddam several times without success (only adding to the civilian death toll)
before he was found, tried and hung. You also tried to kill Fidel Castro and Milosevic before that.

Love to see your evidence on Castro and Milosevic.

Go right ahead.

Still can't admit you lied about Saddam being assassinated can you? Typical.

I admitted my error previously. I did not know about Lincoln and Garfield, both killed on US soil. Anyway, the last time it happened, it still was in Texas. Hard-Core indeed!

Don't you have someone to surrender to?

Did I ever mention that I'm really George W Bush? Now that I'm retired I have extra time on my hands...

This whole poison story is interesting (and disturbing). I assume it didn't come out earlier because they couldn't prove anything and/or it was easier to investigate it without going public.

"...In 2007, Laura Bush joined the president at the G8 summit in Germany, but was left ill and bedridden shortly after her arrival, according to a passage clipped by The Politico. "Over the next day nearly a dozen members of our delegation were stricken, even George, who started to feel sick during an early morning staff briefing," she writes.

The Secret Service went on full alert, according to the account, combing the resort for poisons -- well aware of a spate of such high-profile attacks in Europe in recent months. A military aide and senior staffer have still not recovered from what the president's doctors concluded may have been the work of a virus that attacks the inner ear..."

The poisoning story is just that a story, or wild speculation by Laura Bush. I am not saying it that it was a possibility however it just seem more like wild speculation than anything.

France24 - Laura Bush book suggests poison at German summit: report

Dear Mrs Bush,

May I be so bold as to remind you that Germany did not take part in the assassination of foreign leaders such as Saddam Hussein?

May I be so bold once again as to remind you that the last time a POTUS was killed, it did not happen in Europe but down in Texas?

Have a nice retirement.

Yours trully.

Give the lady a break. Did she actually say that the Nazi's did it or did she just realy the story that it happened in the Fatherland ?

he doesn't have to. 2/3 presidents that have been assissnated in the US were killed in D.C. (see lincoln & garfield).

there was also an attempt on reagan in D.C.

YA think that maybe back then the POTUS spent more time in DC so that is where the filth bags went hunting for POTUSes ?

no doubt. assassins are opportunists. the actual location of the assassination doesn't necessarily have anything to do with it.

oswald wasn't even from texas, it was the OP that was drawing that association... why, I don't know (but I can specualte).

You are letting facts get in the way of a emotional rant. How dare you! :D

What was this thread about again? Oh yeah, dear Laura. (Always reminds me of Julia Roberts in "Sleeping With The Enemy". LAURAAAA! LAURAAAAA!) In her book she accuses some mystery group of poisoning their group while in Germany. Mind you, she put this accusation in her book without a scintilla of proof. All their doctors said it was probably a virus. But, those pesky facts only spoil a great story.

Then she sorta, kinda, almost takes responsibility for killing a high school class mate, possibly an ex-boyfriend, by not blaming her stupidly blasting through a stop sign, in the middle of nowhere, at over 50 mph but by insinuating the kid she killed died because of the car he was driving (a Corvair) and because the stop sign was... too small.

Is there any integrity in that family?

I gotta assume she has the same handlers as her husband, to re-inflate their images. So, if the way this book is written is any indication of how dubya's book will be slanted, I think I've just saved the cost of both books.
