Gulf of Mexico spill may hit coast this weekend

Well if a petroleum engineer with almost 40 years of experience has no credibility on this forum when it comes to a rig blowout, then you people are a lost cause.

I go through a lot of trouble to help people here understand what was really going on, the why's of the occurrence (to a point, we still don't know the cause) and how the BOP's work and this is the thanks I get?

I'm done with you people and this thread. You have NO proof that what I am saying is wrong yet still you spit out your liberal talking points. Have fun, I'm done. Oh by the way, the Kool-aid is ready.

And no Don, I don't have a phone number, but if you're a math whiz like you claim to be, I doubt it would be hard for you to look it up. I'm not doing any more work for you people. You want info? Look it up yourself. And enjoy the liberal lies.

Would it be possible for you to do a little research and link to evidence that supports your post? I.e., that these measures are required in the U.S. on oil wells, as you've stated.

Once relaeased into the Gulf, there is really no way for it to get out, due to the currents. It will be everywhere.

Yeah, I'm sure it'll get to Galveston... as soon as the prevailing winds and the gulf stream current suddenly reverses their direction for the first time in ten thousand years. .....

What about hurricanes blowing it westward?

They will not get it plugged before hurricane season. Remember "Murphy's Law?

VERY remote possibility.

My mother wont let me go down there, because she thinks I can't do a days drive. Even thought I am 21 years old she treats me like I am sixteen years of age. And from what I have seen on the news, if this thing doesn't stop it could hit Galveston Texas..

Video: Where is the oil spill headed?

Plus from my view the oil spill could head towards us as well.

Probably should wait for a hurricane to hit the gulf before we worry about that one. Capping the thing is priority 1 right now, cleanup efforts are going to be useless until that thing is stopped and contained.

I think Texas is safe at the moment, everyone east of y'all needs to worry.

I agree that we should wait for a hurricane we don't need one until this thing is stopped.

Did you watch the video you posted ??? It only talks about the oil possible affecting Florida.. no mention of Texas in it.

This is the point in the season that we have good odds of litte to no activity, which is why that well capping is an absolute priority and has to be done ASAP. Around July-August if that site is still gushing we all need to worry.

They've already started organizing volunteers for the beaches in the panhandle.

Yes I watched it I just saying it could affect Texas as well, if winds stiff.

It could under very limited circumstances, that is true, heck it could even hit Mexico at the Yukon peninsula with the right conditions(albeit in a much lesser capacity) but it's only a plausible situation at best, the highest probability is La./Miss. taking the big hit, with Bama/Ga./Fla. being signifigantly affected.
