Sue Lowden Stands by Chicken Health Care Barter Plan

Well, really only an idiot would suggest otherwise. I'd love to see some republicans rolling around in a car with half-flat tires. I bet they'd stop to fill them up with air. They aren't that stupid, they know the truth, they just don't care to be honest if it fits their political narrative, not that this is a strictly Republican trait or anything.

just bring their cars with the flat tires to to Congress there be enough hot air there to go around

That IS funny.

See, the GOP isn't the party of No. They have solutions. Like trading chickens.

You know I thinking if doctors in Nevada take chickens as payments will what if they are quacks will they take ducks for payment ?patients ??

Sue Lowden Stands by Chicken Health Care Barter Plan

Sue Lowden, a Republican Senate hopeful in Nevada, has been widely mocked for earlier this week stating that, "before we all started having health care, in the olden days our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor, they would say I'll paint your house."

WTF does this broad think that she is living in the 18th century ?

Is this going to be the Republican health financing plan ? Chickens ??

Truth am stranger than fiction !!!
:shock::shock::shock:

What in sam hell?

I must say I'm baffled.

It's Friday and we had some great take out fried chicken and a couple two martinis and I was thinking !! If doctors take chickens for services rendered do houses of prostitution in Nevada take chickens for services rendered and does the cost in chickens paid vary by the type and /or duration of services rendered ? Just be asking !!!!

That's a really good point. And what about the size of the chicken, if it was a midget prostitute, would you pay them in baby chickens?

I think this may have been the fastest deterioration of a thread ever in the history of DP

I mean hell, the original story is crazy enough.

Hey it's Friday !! A time to laugh, and as you so adroitly pointed out "the original story is crazy enough".....

Hey some more deep thinking on a Friday night: If doctors who treat people are paid in chickens what are Veterinarians paid in – humans?

Why not change Nevada law so that the governor is paid in chickens?

If you can barter with your doctor why not with your governor?

not only is the SITTING SENATE LEADER losing to the crazy chicken lady by DOUBLE DIGITS (ie, it's THAT bad), the loser's SON, rory reid, is getting his DEMOCRAT butt beat even WORSE in the silver state gub-ship, some TWENTY points

RealClearPolitics - 2010 Nevada Governor Race

fyi

I believe your missing the point, from how I see it, Lowden favors patients and doctors being able to bargain over costs.

No, her point was we should consider "bartering" as a means of payment. If you have no money, paint the Doctor's house, wash his car, mow his lawn. We don't need bartering, that is why we have greenbacks. Frankly, this is not a real solution, its just silliness, like so many of the Republican quips during this heath care debate.

There were a lot of good arguments for and against the health care reform. Its just unfortunate that so much of the argument was about silly things with silly solutions (like death panels, government take over and chickens for check-ups). We might have passed a good bill had the debate been more intelligent.

Now that NASA is on the sides lines of space exploration for a while, perhaps their mission could be re-directed to search for intelligent life in the Republican party.

Vegetable produce!

expanding medicare and medicaid by TWELVE MILLION while simultaneously cutting their already overstrained fundings by HALF A TRIL is not silly

it's tragic

Washington Times - Democrats win $400B in Medicare cuts

sluffing off 200B dollars of mandate---totally unfunded---on our states when sacto, albany, lansing, tallahassee... are already dying: NOT silly

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/20/health/policy/20health.html?_r=1&partner=rss&emc=rss

imposing or impounding or excising thousand dollar fines on FOUR MILLION americans caught BREATHING WITHOUT INSURANCE is serious stuff

Nearly 4M to pay health insurance penalty by 2016

so is DOUBLE COUNTING yet ANOTHER $250,000,000,000

Budget Office Rebuts Democratic Claims on Medicare (Update1) - Bloomberg.com

how 'bout the fact megacorps like at&t and verizon have to fork up an extra BILLION dollars EACH just to remain in operation, not a single NEW HIRE?

AT&T to Book $1 Billion Cost on Health-Care Reform (Update3) - BusinessWeek

funny?

now, the crazy chicken lady, i'll admit...

SHE's a ****-a-doodle-do

and she's gonna be sitting in the us senate in a few months

in HARRY REID'S CHAIR!

LOL!

Actually this is pretty funny. Thanks for pointing this out as its a wonderful example of how things make great sound bites, but when you cut to the truth, its much to do about nothing.

Did you read the article? Its a non-cash charge to the deferred tax liability caused by the government wiping out a form of corporate welfare that was created with Medicare Part D. With the establishment of Part D, The government agreed to compensate companies that had already offered drug plans for their retirees. Given that this was nothing but corporate welfare, the Republicans should be saluting this as a welfare reform.

That is the root of all of the "losses" that the Fortune 5 have taken in relation to the health care reform legislation. Its not real money.

But then you'd be asking these people to have consistent ideologies.

no problem with half a T cuts to m&m while massively expanding both already strained-to-breaking entitlements?

no concern for 200B of unfunded mandates on already broken-backed state budgets?

the fining of 4 million, the double counting of a quarter T?

interesting...

how 'bout the DOC FIX, yet ANOTHER quarter T unfunded?

as for at&t and the billion dollars that's "not real money..."

(LOL!)

tell it to the "current and retired workers" who will see "changes to their benefits"

AT&T to Book $1 Billion Cost on Health-Care Reform (Update3) - BusinessWeek

tell it to the benefits managers forced "to offer less to their employees"

tell it to those on the receiving end of "prospective changes to the active and retiree health care benefits offered by the company"

tell THEM their probems are not real...

tell bloomberg...

don't tell me
