LOL, the Enquirer is up for a Pulitzer! I guess, if Obama can get a Nobel Prize then they are certainly entitled to a Pulitzer! It actually sounds as if they are a viable nominee.

BBC News - Controversy over National Enquirer Pulitzer nomination

The most famous US tabloid is up for the country's top journalism award, for its coverage of a presidential candidate's extra-marital affair. But would it be a worthy winner?

It is now more than two and a half years since that September afternoon when Rick Egusquiza picked up the phone.
John Edwards

The journalist and former bartender at Venice Beach listened as the voice on the other end gave him information that would eventually lead to the downfall of a popular, charismatic former US senator who was running for President.

Now, Mr Egusquiza and the publication he works for, the National Enquirer, is waiting for another phone call.

One which will tell them whether they've won the most prestigious award in US journalism, the Pulitzer prize.

Just the thought of it has left much of the media establishment here gasping for breath.

Hey it's the MSM on Men In Black.

Amazing how most of the media only gave that Edwards affair a token mention and then practically ignored. Considering what the awarded the Pulitzer prize for in the past the National enquirer deserves to have a Pulitzer prize.

If Oblabba can earn the Nobel Peace Prize....:doh

Then the Enquirer, hands-down, gets and deserves the Pulitzer!

So, exposing a politician as a sleazeball philanderer is worth a Pulitzer? Interesting.

It must not be very hard to win one, as there must be dozens of philandering politicians to expose.

The Enquirer what the hell? How is the Enquirer worthy of a Pulitzer? It a freaking tabloid nothing more, and I hate Edwards he was a slime ball.

While the enquirer may be tabloid trash, they probably did the best high-profile investigative journalism of the past few years with the Edwards story. Wikileaks would be another candidate, although "collateral murder" was highly biased. Frankly, the current "regurgitate a press release" isn't exactly giving us a lot of options.

Nothing like good 'ole investigative journalism. Given them credit: they are out to find and report on the news, not make the news like those guys on Murdoch's payroll (WSJ notwithstanding..... yet).

I don't know why this is a surprise to anyone. People have been trying to legitimize tabloid and paparazzi trash for a long time. It looks like they are finally getting their wish.
