KENANSVILLE, N.C. — A North Carolina prosecutor says he still plans to prosecute six members of guitarist and singer Willie Nelson's band on drug and alcohol charges.

Duplin County District Attorney Dewey Hudson said at a press conference Friday that substances seized from the band's bus in January are being tested at the state crime lab in Raleigh. Nelson was not on the bus at the time.

Hudson has faced criticism for pursuing the case, but says he has to show that famous people are not above the law.

The six members of Nelson's band were charged with possession of either marijuana or untaxed liquor before a concert that Nelson canceled because his hand hurt too badly to play.

Nelson's publicist has declined to comment on the case.

Not only Willie, but so does Merle Haggard, who wrote Okie from Muskogee. Never judge a book by it's cover, I always say. LOL.
 
I really wish I could confirm the claims of him having the stickiest of the sticky. I personally don't smoke anymore and haven't in well over a decade, but if he came at me with a number, I'd fire it up with him. It's Willie freakin Nelson, after all. He even beats out Cheech and Chong.
 
In an interview when Clinton was still in office Willie talked about standing on the Balcony at the White House smoking a joint.

Willie never made a secret of his use of the weed. Truth is just a few years back it was the pleasure of choice for a large number of musicians and industry types. I've seen it in person more than once.

This prosecutor is trying to make a point here to make a name for himself.

He needs a better name anyway who still names people Dewy?
