Passenger tried to ignite shoe on United Airlines flight

Color is a very useful tool in the ME (and others).

There are very light skinned and dark skinned Arabs. Some look white. The same is true for Jews in Israel who come in all colors. But propogandous posters regarding the evils of Israel or America will always show a white man. The opposite was true in Germany where posters depicting Jews were usually not of "white" people.

The ME has their own version of the "white man keeping them down."

The "dark skinned" Arabs is largely a legacy of the Slave Trade, which went on for nearly a thousand years with East Africa. Many of Qatar's best runners, for example, are descendants of African slaves sent to Arabia.

You must disdain teapartiers more than I thought. Seems like instead of people picking things they hate about the tea'rs ya guys instead pick anything you dont like and say, "Yep... Thats the tea party." Matching his sarcasm just to get your lil "Teabaggers are gay" jab in?

Chris, i advise you read it again. "teabagees" are the mouth foamers who use the term "teabaggers".

Yeah, because the Rashidun Caliphs were all selected by nepotism. What ignorance of history:

Oh, c'mon. How stupid do you hope people are? At least try to make an argument for a change. The Rashidun was the early "Rightly Guided" caliphs and it's period spanned 30 years. I guess Islam's history is confined to the Rashidun, huh? The larger majority of future Caliphs that twisted out Islam just didn't exist?

Rashidun, 632–661
Umayyads, 7th–8th centuries
Abbasids, 8th–13th centuries
Fatimids, 10th-12th centuries
Shadow Caliphate, 13th–16th centuries
Ottomans, 16th-20th century

And the closest thing to the Caliphate since the Turks (converts) did Islam a favor and abolished the Sultan is the House of Saud. This period of monarchy is all about the family.

Still hoping others are ignorant of your religion, huh? When one has no argument to defend what he holds dear, one resorts to deceit. Be honest and embrace the truth for a change. Calling someone ignorant and backing it up with deceit and nonesense won't get you far. Maybe I just know more about your religion than you.

It is an internal Russian matter, but there are two forces at work here.

1. The Russians had a long history (~150 years) of being ruled by Muslims. this is something that still burns in their collective memory.

2. The Muslim areas in the south believe that they have a right to independence, and in a manner, they DO have a point. Like the way the Chinese have treated Muslims in East Turkestan, the Russians have been less than magnanamous toward the Muslims in their south. At one time, it was understandable due to previous Muslim rule of much of Russia, but now from their authoritarian regime, it really isn't.

Russians have a long history of military campaigns in Afghanistan and Iran and they have a long history of oppressing Muslims in the Caucusus. Given how rough Muslims have had it under Russian thumbs you would think they would be the target of hate instead of America. But Qutb chose us didn't he?

Too bad no one kicked the crap out of this dude right after he said, "I was trying to light my shoe".

Why? What's wrong with being an Arab and trying to light your shoe on fire on an airplane?

You have a point, I reckon. Someone would have called it a hate crime.
