AP sources: FBI arrests man for threatening Pelosi

My position is that your initial quote in this thread is completely off-base and wrong. Feel free to try to prove you assertion.

Here it is in case you forgot.

Your position is that media does not influence political identity among its viewership.

My position is that media, including Fox News, does bare responsibility for the actions of it's viewership when they use exaggerate claims about public figures, and the viewership reacts accordingly.

It is apparent from interview with his mother that this man watches Fox News. The claims that Fox News made since the beginning of the Health Care debate has been one that favored exaggeration and emotional stimulus. It's call entertainment.

This man has a criminal history and issues with discretion.

I do not think anything should be done to Fox News, or any media outlet for the responsibility of it's viewership, but we must not let it go unnoticed. And saying that there is no responsibility Fox News has to the emotional responses of its viewership is like saying a rapper whose listener commits a crime, as advertised in his/her song bares no social responsibility for what they put on the airwaves. They do bare responsibility as it exists in a social sphere, but they do not bare legal responsibility.

Bring it!...

Um, okay. Let's make sure we understand each other first. This is what you claimed is bull****:

But, as we have seen in the last year plus, there have been violent acts carried out by the right.

So if anyone posts an example of violence committed by an arguably right-wing person or group in the last year (last 12 months), you're wrong.

Heaven forbid you actually offer an example or three to demonstrate rejection of alleged racists in the Tea Party. After all, if it's so obvious, that shouldn't be hard, right?
Here's some more Chappy, since I'm bored:

Tea Party vindication as Sullivan, Citizens Alliance retract ?white pride? charge : Now! Hampshire

Now, I fully expect you and Gina to ignore or shrug off these examples because they don't fit your neat little paradigm. I have taken away the thin veil of ignorance you both have claimed up until now though, so carrying forward the false meme of "tea baggers tolerate racism" will simply brand you as liars.

You're welcome. :)

QUIT hedging...

I'm not hedging. Just say you agree or not and then I can go look it up and see.

P.S. This is silly. I think even you've realized that you wildly overspoke. I'm not going to play this game.

"The right"... never .. ever... (there's a hint there for ya')

you may now waste all the time you want....

You can't even construct a logical sentence. No point in trying to engage you further. Good luck with all that rightwing anger.

The difference is that when a liberal wackjob threatens a Republican, it's dog bites man. When a conservative wackjob threatens a Democrat, it's man bites dog.

If every left-wing loon getting arrested for an asinine political statement made DP, you'd be scrolling for minutes to see it all.

The far-lefties build puppets and do performance art protests...

The far-righties come armed and dangerous to their protests...

That's the difference.

Your position is that media does not influence political identity among its viewership.

To use such a general term as "influence" is intellectual dishonesty of the highest order. We're influenced by everything we see and hear every day. From your standpoint, you could just as easily make the correlation that this guy was "influenced" by the singing fish on the McDonald's filet-o-fish commercials. People are either responsible for their actions or they aren't.

Please prove the two points I've labeled in bold above.

If Fox is so dangerous as to be influencing people to commit or threaten violent acts, why on earth wouldn't you want something done to them?

I agree completely.

I wish people would say the same about money in politics too.

Moderator's Warning:
Enough of the foolish chest-thumping, grandstanding, and personal attacks. I have already levied some consequences. Cease the acting out, or some folks may end up removed from the thread.

Yeah, I remember how peaceful the G-8 protests are every year ...

Bull****. Are you even paying any ****ing attention whatsoever? They have denounced the racists in their midst often and in a variety of fora. Get your head out of the sand.

I googled for the term last week but came up with nothing. Today I found one, a representative of the Tea Party Express doing so. I lost the search and can't find it, but it was the only denouncement of racism I could find.

Sorry, but was anyone talking to you? Nope. But I'll humor you. Thirty seconds on Google produced this:

True Tea Partiers Denounce All Racists, Truthers and Conspiracy Crackpots

Now you, Chappy, misterman, and whichever other nutless wonders come along to thank your useless effort can suck it.

Crawl back under your rock and leave the adults alone.

Sorry, that one did not come up in the search relating to Tea Parties. *shrugs*

No such thing.. Liberal fantasies.. utter BU!!SH!T!

NOW...

There were those SEIU thugs biting fingers off outside townhall meetings....

There were SEIU thugs accosting conservatives outside townhall meetings..

There were SEIU thugs trying to keep 9/12 protesters from getting off the Metro in DC...

There were liberals protesters destroying property in the school budget cut riots...

There were liberal's bricks flying through (R) Congressmen's office windows...

But then you wouldn't want to mention those things.. because they ACTUALLY HAPPENED!

SEIU had nothing to do with the finger biting, that was MoveOn.org and they quickly denounced it.

Emails MoveOn spokeswoman Ilyse Hogue:

Yesterday, MoveOn held over 350 peaceful candlelight vigils nationwide, in which tens of thousands of people participated in, to call for immediate action on health care reform including a strong public option.

We have seen press reports that indicate at one event in Southern California a regrettable act of violence happened. While we do not have any more facts about what happened then what we saw in press accounts, MoveOn condemns violence in all forms. We have seen passions run high on both sides all summer in the health care debate, and we strongly believe that this nation deserves an honest, peaceful and respectful debate about health care reform.

While we don't know if either party involved was a MoveOn member, we regret any violence that may have occurred yesterday, and we support the Ventura County Sheriff's investigation into the situation. It is our firm hope that this event does not detract from the tens of thousands who were out peacefully making their voices heard for health care reform and a public option.

Could you post links to the rest of your references?

Here are a couple references to violence from the right:

Three Officers Killed In Stanton Heights Shootings on Fairfield Street - kdka.com

Poplawski's friends at the scene described him as a young man who thought the Obama administration would ban guns.

One friend, Edward Perkovic, said Poplawski feared "the Obama gun ban that's on the way" and "didn't like our rights being infringed upon."

Another:

He was also a "birther". Obama is missing!

A third:

Wonderful! Thank you for the links. Why would I ignore them? I've been looking for them. I watched Andrew Breitbart argue against the Tea Party issuing any denouncement of racism or the loons saying it would only give weight to the charge. So I've been quite interested to see denouncements.

You know though, your link to the the black Tea Party member refuting racism links to Young Turks ridiculing O'Reilly and Hannity re: the Tea Party and racism?

I couldn't find a story about a black Tea Party member on that link.
