DA: sex ed could get teachers arrested

In a country where the presidents education czar taught seminars IN public schools to 13 and 14 year olds about the joys of fisting and swallowing...how is it possible sex education could be a crime???

Great! Tell it to the ones who want to teach creationism in schools, and all will be well.

Not creationism. Try to pay attention.

Until Darwin can tell us where that first strand of DNA came from, there really isn't an absolute anything, eh?

Is that true?

I'm talking about creationism.

Never said anything about absolute anything. Did you?

Is that true?

Wow, someone actually asked if some wild rumor about the Obama admit on the internet is true without swallowing it whole (so to speak). Well done.

Now all you have to do is critically judge the source and reliability of evidence, if any, that is given in response.

Oh, by the way, if its not on video, it didn't happen. Just like the spitting/n-word incident with Rep. Lewis. Remember?

SHOW ME A TAPE OF THIS!?!?!?! I hate to wait till I was 18 to learn these things :p I wanna attend this school!

Christians aren't promoting teaching creationism in public schools. However, "intelligent design" allows for the possibility of a higher power involved.

And until someone can explain where that original DNA came from, evolution is sorely lacking as a theory. Evolution in itself seems like a heavenly miracle, but there are so many holes in it, it's hard to teach it at all without a huge qualifier attached to it.

Now, back on subject: teaching kids how to screw properly!!

LOL!

Oh, I forgot. It's "intelligent design" now. Thanks.

No it's not. You just dont' understand the theory.

Evolution could be a heavenly miracle. Doesn't change anything.

I want video! No, scratch that, that's illegal.

Fisting - Big Government

Breitbart.

If you're going to claim someone called you a nigger, that's a BIG accusation, and you'd better prove it. Seems no one heard a thing other than Lewis and his cohorts.

See above.

Sorry, but you can't just walk into a debate and declare that you will only accept a higher level of evidence.

Or I could say : if you're going to accuse someone of teaching fisting, that's a BIG accusation, and you better prove it.

Told you it would come back to haunt you.

Show me video, or it didn't happen.

And no, you can't use some idiotic rightwing website either. That's not a trustworthy source.

Umm...they have AUDIO of the guy...

wait...is that a problem?

Do you ever wonder with so many stories that are there and NOT reported in the mainstream...that maybe its not the story thats faulty...its the mainstream media? Nah...not as long as it is reporting what YOU want to hear and be reported....

The "Fistgate" incident

OK...I KNOW you dont like the sites...but...it DOES come with pictures, audio, and transcripts.

Once it has been clearly established, the bigger question is and should be...does it MATTER?

I REALLY thought this was pretty common knowledge. Thats why I expressed incredulity that people are being threatened with criminal charges for teaching basic sex education.

There's clear evidence that proper sex education leads to lower rates of teen pregnancy and even abortion. This includes the potential dangers in unprotected sex, the fact that no contraceptive is 100% effective, information about STDs, etc. (without distorting facts. some christian schools have taught things like condoms having a 20% failure rate)

To try and ban this sort of education is to be in favor of teen pregnancy, basically.

As opposed to ID/Creationism which is just; The Bible says it that means it must be true. In addition the scientific community hasnt declared Evolution theory being closed, it will probably be always an open and ever changing theory.

Memo to DA allowing political pandering to hinder his ability to carry out justice: if the state mandates it, then you have no ability to charge a crime until the mandate is overturned.

**** off.

Does the state board of education have the right to override laws? It would be helpful to know WHO put this requirement in place (i.e. state legislature vs. state BOE).

Not all teenagers are hormonal horndogs. These teachers should be prosecuted. Sexual education should be up the parents, not the schools. If anything they can teach kids about std's and the dangers of unprotected sex, but they shouldn't be teaching them how to have save sex or endorsing such behavior. Personally, I don't think all kids are mentally ready to be exposed to sexual material or concepts, it also instills values into their minds that it's ok to sleep around and live as sexually immoral as you want. If they must teach this, why not balance it with abstinence?

What a load of bollocks. Oh well, if people wanna live in the stone age, let em.

It's not a matter of letting people who want to live in the stone age if they want to. It's a matter of letting those who want to live in the stone age be dragged back by those who do.

My main point is, it doesn't make one damn bit of difference. It's not like kids don't know what a condom is.

Just because a kid knows what a condom is doesn't mean they know how to use it correctly.

Some kids are responsible; some aren't. The school doesn't impact them in that regard either way. That comes from home, and from within.

Studies have shown that children are extremely uncomfortable talking about sex with their parents, and I read one study that said both kids and their parents feel better having a medium, such as a teacher or a counselor, when talking about sex.

Kids in the top private prep schools are vastly more prepared for college and have far fewer teen pregnancies, and they don't waste valuable school time teaching this nonsense.

Or maybe those kids have parents who can better afford getting them abortions when they need it.

We already do abstinence sex education. The issue is when it comes to masturbation and sex. Not every teen feels comfortable talking about sex with their parents. For some of those teens, the only way they can come to understand sex is through experimentation if it isn't explained. That could prove dangerous and unhealthy to the teen.

Should it be taught in public schools? No, not in an ordinary class room environment, I don't think so. Instead, I think all schools should arrange for a sex counselor to have a private meeting with every teen and his/her parents to explain sex, masturbation, sexuality, and relationships with them.

That way, teens can get the sex education they need with a parent present and have it done in a private way. It also gives teens someone they can talk frankly to about sex and their sexuality by introducing them to the sex counselor.

I think this way would be better than some of the other ways teens learn about sex at that age, which is through trial and error, which can be dangerous, or through the internet, which could be dangerous and misinformed.

The state legislature did. It's a new law, not a regulation.

Not all teenagers are hormonal horndogs.

yeah, pretty much all of them are.

These teachers should be prosecuted.

This is absolutely nuts.
Sexual education should be up the parents, not the schools.

Change the law then.

If anything they can teach kids about std's and the dangers of unprotected sex,

I thought you just said it was up to the parents.

but they shouldn't be teaching them how to have save sex or endorsing such behavior.

They aren't. That's idiotic.

Personally, I don't think all kids are mentally ready to be exposed to sexual material or concepts, it also instills values into their minds that it's ok to sleep around and live as sexually immoral as you want.

No, it doesn't, and study after study proves it.

If they must teach this, why not balance it with abstinence?

It does. Most states have a requirement to include abstinence as part of the curriculum.
