Doctor tells Obama supporters: Go elsewhere for health care

Yeah, right. They're all going to work at Walmart.

I am in my early fifties. Most of my doctors are in their late fifties or early sixties. I am lucky, I have great insurance and can afford the best doctors in my area. My orthopaedist is a well known doctor-he was the team doctor for the NFL team here in town. He said he is going to retire-he doesn't need the money because not only has he made millions doing knee jobs on professional athletes, he married into a very wealthy family. My ENT is in his early sixties-he planned on practicing until 70 but right now he is going to retire.

you are right, people who still have student loads to pay off or haven't been around a while aren't going to start selling ladies dresses or handguns or cars but the people who have been around a while are able to retire

that so many people apparently support this idiotic bill not because they understand what it will do but because they HOPE it screws over doctors and insurance companies is pathetic

but the fact remains-most schemes that are passed to slake the class envy of the unwashed masses tend to bite the proletariats the hardest

That was not my point. The law does not have any type of high risk pool. So while insurance will be offered, it will be very expensive. No regulation will be able to tell a private company that they have to lose money.

I contend that this bill will be proven to be a lot less beneficial to people with pre-existing conditions than we are being told.

Interesting isn't it. First we were told, you have not seen the final bill so any flaws pointed out are lies, per the president. Now we are told there is a bill but it will be fixed with regulations.

So the best defenders can do is say that trust me, that isn't what the bill says but not what it means.

I would be ashamed if made to make these lame excuses.

It is my understanding that the pre-existing clause does not come into effect for 4 years.

I would think that in four years most people that have a pre-existing condition right now will die, however they will be paying into the system by law to pay for people in 4 years that have pre-existing conditions.

It is a little confusing but the people that are forced to buy insurance now, will have insurance when they get sick over the next 4 years and the sick people now will be dead so I am not sure if there will be such a large high risk pool.

Of course those that have milked as much money from the system as possible are going to retire. They are the reason we needed reform in the first place. Time to open up med schools and let anyone that has the ability and desire to be a doctor, be one. We need new blood anyway. No more rationing of med schools.

You people worry about the doctors too much. They will come out of this just fine. They will still be the richest people in town.

i would suggest we create national medical academies modelled on west point, annapolis and the AFA
there are lots of individuals qualified to study medicine but there are insufficient seats for them and/or inadequate funds available to cover the cost of a medical education
train our future doctors and receive a year for year obligation to perform public medical service in the destination of the government's choosing
create a supply of medical practitioners adequate to cover the demand for medical services

Great idea.

LOL

you don't have a law degree or any legal training do you

But I give you credit, you think as Pelosi does

but that is not a valid response though I admit, many politicians, who know even less about the constitution than you do, spew the same thing

I have a law degree, which I received in 1995. Please explain to me how the 10th amendment has been violated, because I don't understand how you can make that conclusion.

I am not sure if you are joning or are serious. First, many people who have pre-existing conditions probably will not die in 4 years. Also there will be a new cadre of people who get some condition in the meantime.

I am not a lawyer so do not claim to be as versed as you. Doesn't the tenth amendment speak to any powers not spelled out for the federal government go to the states. States have come up with their own ways of handling this.

The court as constituted has a majority of strict constitutionalists as you saw in the decision that got Obama so worked up.

I do not think anyone who is honest about it can predict which way the supreme court will go with this.

What is so wrong about that?? doctors offices are private businesses, just like anything else!!

my take is, given a choice between two physicians, one whose focus is money and the others whose focus is wellness, i want to choose the latter doctor to attend to my medical needs

And yet all you get stuck with is mediocrity, not excellence.

Doctors are pretty important.
If you don't have them, there is no medical system.
Med school rationing will still be happening, otherwise, the AMA would of never supported the bill.

I wish you guys would understand that we all got hustled with this last round of legislation.

i don't follow you

why would one expect mediocrity from a physician whose focus is wellness instead of money

The money is just compensation for all the hours of study, labwork, internships and residencies that make up the life of the med student. Why the hell shouldn't a doctor who sacrificed most of his/her life to be duly compensated??? Oh, but I forgot, you think doctors should not make anything more than the minimum wage, doncha??

What's wrong with that? Putting money ahead of what is best for the patient? That is one of the biggest problems with our healthcare system.

Nope, it all depends on the condition. Some people can live years with COPD or hypertension, a stent, cancer survivors, etc.

Money is an incentive to do more and better, it has always been that way.
That is why some doctors work what I consider to be ridiculous hours, they want more money.

I bolded the part I disagree with, they all got hustled, meaning supporters of this bill and the Democratic party, we all got screwed as a nation, professional, and consumer base because they supported this ****.

Money does not equal excellence. The very best doctors are not in it for the money.

I take it you'd have no problem with doctors earning less than the national poverety level?? Pathetic, but then again, that's what I would expect from a Lib like you!!

I was hoping I was wrong before it was passed.
I am cynic here but more optimistic on the inside. :)

As I stated before, when doctors are in their respective residencies, especially ER doctors, they have little time for much else.

Money does not equal excellence. The very best doctors are not in it for the money.
You don't know much about medicine or commerce do you? I don't work my ass off for your sake or enjoyment, or even to be the best professional I can be, I do it for money. Doctor's quality goes up because there is money in being the best, and caring about their patients is also a close a factor, but if you think they'll do it at a loss you're kidding yourself.

I did. The doctor's an ass. Patients go to doctors because they're sick, not to be make a political statement.
That's not a very moderate tone.
