Doctor tells Obama supporters: Go elsewhere for health care

The "masses" are against the bill or haven't you seen the polls?

LOL What olive branch? Obama shut out all Republicans from debate then had a show day where he pretended to listen but shout out all major proposals by Republicans.

This is the most divisive and biggest liar of a president we have had in a century.

Not to jump topics Tex, but more to make a point, do YOU think the Iraqi War was a mistake? The polls say it was. How do YOU feel about it?

This is the most divisive and biggest liar of a president we have had in a century.

Does that include GWB?

Do YOU think Bush was a good president? Do you agree with what the polls will say about that too?

Just curious.

I hope his practice suffers as a result of his immature and unprofessional behavior. I'd be happy to go elsewhere. Anyone who would put politics over someone's heath isn't worthy of my business.

Would it be right of me to say "I hope you suffer as a result of Obama's immature and unprofessional behavior"?

People don't respect the position or know what it takes. They have to go to school much longer than I ever would (and I have a masters), pay hundreds of thousands in education and tuition costs, pay huge malpractice insurance payments that border on the absurd, and still find a way to compensate themselves to fit the scarcity, skill, and specialty of their craft.

And in one fell swoop, Democrats are going to take that all away from them and make them on pace with someone who eeked out of college with a plethora of Cs and squeezed himself into a random pedestrian job. Yeah, like we're not short on doctors and nurses already. Not only will you create a demand crisis, but you'll push away the more brilliant minds because the field is simply not worth their time.

Anyone who wants to play the altruism card and whine about how "it should be about the patients", put your money where your mouth is and make the sacrifices to become a doctor. If Obama came along and told me that I had a cap on what I could charge, I'd tell him to jack himself.

I don't think anyone is saying that this guy doesn't have the right to do this. He absolutely does. It is his way of protesting. Good for him.

However, it does come off as incredibly petty and unprofessional. It's certainly not going to help his business. Politics do have a place in life, but one really should avoid mixing it with the professional/business side of things. Just because one has different political beliefs doesn't mean they are somehow a lesser human being and not worthy of the same treatment as everyone else. I'm sure he was hoping this sign would have a huge impact with people as if he's making some huge bold and profound statement. Frankly, if I saw that sign in any business window, I would just chuckle to myself and roll my eyes.

Plus, it's most likely true that if the situation were reversed and this doctor were expressing a similar sort of liberal agenda that he would be not getting the same amount of support from people on the right about it. People are all about applauding this kind of stuff when it falls in line with their personal views.

I honestly not sure if his weasel technicality lets him dodge the AMA, but it doesn't fly in the court of decent behavior. He is turning away patients on political grounds for all practical purposes, and should face criticism for doing so. He needs to keep his political views separate from his professional duties.

Oh yeah, what oath did he swear?

The Hippocratic oath, which may be one of the most outdated things in existence.

It's also not enforced either. Want proof? Drive by an abortion clinic.

Everyone in business should, yes.

I agree. However, that would just leave us with plastic surgeon's taking care of the Housewives of Orange County.

Everyone in business should, yes.

So would you have a problem with a doctor who refuses to treat women or perhaps African Americans because of his personal discriminatory views?

Family Guy is closer to being reality TV than that crap, and it has a talking dog and baby.

Considering he says he won' REFUSE anyone, your rhetoric merely drips with ignorance and hate.

He is using his God Given, constitutionally guaranteed right to Free Speech and Freedom of Association. The shameful one here, is you.

No. The shameful one is the doctor.

I'm sure he knows full well that any patient or potential patient of his will read the sign and likely turn away if they did vote for Pres. Obama, but their vote shouldn't have ANYTHING to do with him providing care to people who seak his care. Granted, he did say he would not turn down any patient who came to his office for treatment, but he has to know some folks will be upset about his sign and turn away not because they think he's a bad doctor but because they think he won't treat them if they voted for Obama. It's as if what he's really saying is, "If you voted for Obama, I don't want you as my patient."

I know that's not what his sign says, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's how alot of people interpret it.

Legally, no I would have no problem with it whatsoever. That's his right as a business person, IMO. There's no reason a business person should be forced to provide their services to anyone they don't want to.

Would I use said doc myself? Nope.

Sure. If that makes you feel better. Say it to me. I couldn't care less.

Okay, I can see I am dealing with someone who is just as unprofessional as the doctor is. Buh-bye.

I see nothing has changed, aps. You still walk away from intelligent, valid point-counterpoint.

Come back when you gain the ability to sack up and debate.

Well, I do agree with you from the legal aspect of it. However, I think he would be worthy of criticism, just as this guy is. This guy shouldn't be surprised if his business suffers as a result. I just think it's incredibly stupid to get so bent out of shape about politics that you try to instill it into your business practices.

I think it has less to do with the politics and more to do with the fact that this piece of legislation is going to cripple him in the wallet. As someone in my field, Obama's policies will actually create more jobs, and I'm still adamantly against his administration.

You're not talking about a field that's only going to be slightly affected to the point you can shrug it off. The adverse effects of doctors in this country long-term are going to be immense. And, as much as everyone doesn't want to hear it, this is still a for-profit business. If you do what you do because you love it and it makes you feel good, so be it. You're in the minority.

Wrong. RCP average: 51% to 41% against.

I can believe that. The number is topsy turvy. I'm interested to see where we're at in a year or two from now.

Speakin' of RCP, can you believe this?

Obama's approval rate:

Approve 47.8
Disapprove 45.8

Looks like "The American People" approve of Obama.

Go figure.

I'd give him a medal. He can do what he wants... perhaps in the dictatorship world view, he'd be prosecuted, but not until the Constitution is removed from existence. All the little Obama bed wetters really are taking this personally. Entertaining as hell... :boohoo:

I promise you, I find nothing "personal" about this, just a travesty of medical responsibility being praised and encouraged by the usual irresponsible "McVeigh Wannabe's" (Hannity's phrase, not mine). The health care bill has done nothing to damage this doctor's practice or the treatment options of any of those who scream "dictatorship" The irresponsible recklessness of the wingnuts on the right is fast making them irrelevant in contributing to the growth of this nation.

Excellent for him. He has every right, IMO, to deny his services to anyone he wants for any reason he wants.

Sure. And if it is indeed in violation of the ethics of his profession, the proper authority has the option of revoking his license. Then he won't run the risk of serving anyone he doesn't agree with. Win-Win

What a scumbug. He swore an oath, and yet he puts pathetic partisan politics above his profession. The only saving grace is that he is screwing himself by losing out on reasonable customers. He is more than welcome to bash Obama all he likes, but it is shameful to go so far.

How does his hippocratic oath preclude him from actively taking part in the political discourse of his country? He isn't harming anyone. He is helpful in telling them there are other urologists to see them.

He's well within his rights and ethics to post that sign, especially since he isn't actually turning anyone away. I think people get a little too upset about tongue in cheek displays of political discourse.

Wrong. RCP average: 51% to 41% against.

They don't know what's in the bill, and the bill has yet to take effect, so they don't yet realize how much their lives will be improved by it. Your poll is meaningless.
