I seriously thought when I saw this it was a Joke. I can't believe they are going to drop any method of screening.

How often do they have the name of a real terrorist anyway? Or for that matter any idea who the next Islamic Cult suicide bomber might be.

They already have tiny little 3 and 4 year old and even younger children on their watch list and hold them up but now when they try to board with Mom and Dad but they are not going to use country of origin as reason to make damn sure they are not nut jobs bent on killing us infidels/

Who ever is running the show is out of their (expletive deleted) mind.

This seems to fit into the soft stance or often what seems to be no stance Obama and Napolitano have against terrorist.

Obama is looking more and more suspect when it comes to where his true loyalties lie in my book.

But then I'm thinking about having a bit of a Tea party in my future,

Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.

WASHINGTON -- Travelers from 14 countries that have been home to terrorists will no longer automatically face extra screening before they fly to the U.S.

Beginning this month, anyone traveling to the U.S. will instead be screened based on specific information about potential terrorist threats, a senior Obama administration official said. A person would be stopped if he or she matches a description, even if officials do not have a suspect's name, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive security issues.

For example, if the U.S. has intelligence about a Nigerian man between the ages of 22 and 32 whom officials believe is a threat or a known terrorist, under the new policy all Nigerian men within that age range will receive extra screening before they are allowed to fly to the U.S. If intelligence later shows that the suspect is not a terrorist, travelers will not be screened against that description.

What's your f****problem with the government concentrating on real potential terrorists instead of automatically rescreening all Muslims? I seriously think they will do a better job of security than you and your whiny comrades.

I've done the body scanner. It takes longer than the regular security (unless there is no line).

Solution to the problem right here.

So in effect we are saying to any would be terrorist, send one or more of your people through without any hidden explosives on their person, then after they cease screening that particular class of passenger, send the real thing.

When I traveled on a regular basis, I was thankful that I was rigorously inspected prior to being allowed on a flight, even though at times it was tedious and annoying.

I felt that my security was enhanced.

I would no longer feel as comfortable or safe flying under these new Obamacare flight rules.

So we replace one braindead policy with another equally stupid one. Is it really that hard to find a nice chimp in a zoo somewhere that can write our TSA policy for us?

Did you just volunteer for the job?

I suspect that there is some misunderstanding concerning the policy change. Far from undermining U.S. security, the change might actually improve it by focusing more resources on persons who pose a greater risk.

Law enforcement, like any other endeavor, does not have unlimited resources (personnel, time, funding). Therefore, it makes good sense to prioritize, focusing efforts where a disproportionate share of the risk exists.

Screening all persons from a given country or number of countries is tantamount to prescribing medical exams for all persons from, let's say, New York State, on account of an outbreak of a cluster of highly virulent flu cases there. The better approach would be to screen individuals who are exhibiting symptoms of the flu, even as few cases might slip by (there is a short lag between one's becoming infected and one's developing symptoms). Actually, the former approach would probably permit more persons with the flu to escape notice, as the magnitude of the effort would be too overwhelming to be accomplished quickly enough. A similar principle applies when it comes to choosing between screening all persons or screening selectively based on information.

The article also notes that the new approach should reduce the inconvenience caused to innocent travelers. The flip side of the inconvenience the earlier policy was imposing on innocent travelers was that law enforcement resources (personnel, time, and money) were being consumed screening innocent people. As a result, fewer resources would remain to target persons who might pose a greater risk. The new policy should free up resources for addressing higher-risk persons. With additional resources available, more robust screenings and other counterterrorism efforts should be possible. With a focus placed on persons posing a possible risk based on information toward that end, such efforts should also be more effective.

Did you just volunteer for the job?

Indeed. I can type with both hands, both feet and a tail, so I have a major advantage over you hairless ape-wanabes. Not to mention I am still alot more intelligent than the entire TSA employment roster combined.
