Sarkozy's chilly visit to America

It's sad that's what it is. :(

I hope Obama will learn from his mistakes and maybe replace some of his advisors. Although the feeling of disappointment is perhaps natural since expectations for this president were so high, but still he has offended many friendly countries and he will need their help in the coming years to solve some of the world's urgent problems.

Personaly, I think he is doing it on purpose..... what that purpose is, I have no idea.

For a head of government to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the President withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of. Yet that is how Binyamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip viewed in Jerusalem as a humiliation.

Binyamin Netanyahu humiliated after Barack Obama 'dumped him for dinner' - Times Online

I think this would come under the heading of "things you wouldn't do, even to your mother-in-law".

We are still seeing the development of an Obama foreign policy. My best guess is that Obama is going to realize, or has already to some degree, that he is not able to diplomatically craft a unified Euro-American agenda implementation.

Well you make a very good point, But if Obama wants to be viewed as a leader of the west then he needs to start acting like it. Everybody has that sad story. I'm part Native American and i don't harbor ill feelings towards Europeans.

Obama needs to man up and stop actin like a little *****.

If not acting like a ***** goes so far as to dictate what art you display on the walls of your home and/or office then politics is in deep do-do. If Obama prefers to have photos of Jomo Kenyata, Kwame N'kruma and Pandit Nehru on his walls then good for him. It says nothing about how well he does his job, what alliances he makes or what foreign policy he adopts. Taking Churchill off his wall doesn't mean he harbours ill-feeling towards the British. You'll be hard pressed to find a portrait of Churchill in many British town halls.

There are some issues to address regarding the Obama regime's foreign policy agenda but bringing Churchill into it just demeans the debate.

This is not altogether surprising. Obama's Kenyan connections would probably dictate that he does not see Churchill with the same rosy hue of nostalgia that previous residents of the White House would have done. Churchill was British PM at the beginning of the Mau Mau rebellion in Kenya where the British killed around 20,000 people protesting and rebelling in order to win their independence from the Empire. Perhaps members of Obama's own family lost their lives as a result of Churchill's imperialism.

^ You sure didn't mind discussing Churchill before so why is it demeaning now?

Question: How do you know what's hanging in the British town halls?

The issue is a non-issue. I was pointing out why Obama might remove Churchill's portraits from the walls of the White House. I wasn't claiming that it amounted to a pile of beans in foreign policy terms. I don't think it does, but clearly someone who thought it worth reporting, did.

Secondly, I have spent many a long hour in many, many British town halls over the years. I may live in Spain now but I worked for several British municipalities in the course of my former career(s). I remember very well (1985, I believe) when the portrait of Churchill was removed from the walls of Manchester Town Hall. That would be Manchester, Britain's second city!

Well these British posters on another message board went ape **** when they found this out about Churchill's portraits being removed. And some of them were British cops...

To be honest i dont blame Churchill for trying to keep the English imperialist grip on Kenya.
Its the same reason we are defending and continue to defend the Falklands; mere principle.

Obama is acting exactly as any other lieing Communist believer would act, he plays off one side against another side.

.

I am very disappointed in Mr. Obama. His loyalty almost exclusively to major corporations is very disappointing. He is, I think, too shallow for the job. He lacks the depth needed to be president and doesn't have the ability to choose effective advisors.
He has many failings, but the idea that he is a communist is just plain idiotic.
