Just take the health care reform situation for example, Not only did he remove both the Robust Public Option and Medicare Buy In from the bill, He also had a televised summit where he took on many Republican ideas to add in the bill that he passed.

he promised to cut the deficit in half in 4 years

he promised to close gitmo

he promised to end dadt

he promised to end the patriot act, detention, rendition...

he promised never to raise taxes on anyone under 200G

he promised to put legislation online

he promised openness and transparency

he promised to do health care on cspan

he promised no lobbyists (then sold out to phrma, aig, the seiu, the aaj, the uaw...)

he campaigned AGAINST mandating individuals buy private medical insurance (he criticized hillary for her stand)

You are right about one thing and that is partisan politics. People that wanted him to drill are now bitching and complaining that he is doing it. Apparently the man can't win.

The insurance mandate was a compromise in exhange for removing the public option. The Republicans and Bluedogs wouldn't even come to the table until the compromise was put in.

Not all of these have to do with health care but the ones that do are just to name a few.

Also, Conservative Democrat Bart Stupak made sure Pres. Obama signed an executive order that would eliminate any public funding for abortion. That sounds like something the Republicans would be in favor of. Just because they didn't vote for it doesn't mean that the legislation leaned more towards their direction.

they were attempts by the gop to force the party in power to make a change to the reconciliation to force it back into pelosi's place

Looking at your link, it is amazing that Landrieu and a few other democrat senators are trying to convince their leadership to table cap and trade. Why don't they do the right thing and just vote with the republicans against it if Reid is dumb enough to try it. But no, they must grovel and lick the feet of Reid and Obama, rather than standing up for what their electorate wants.
