Obama to Unveil Offshore Oil Drilling Plans

When people argue that The Obama is a moderate/centrist/not liberal enough, it clearly illustrates just how far on out the lunatic fringe left those people really are.

No...actually it demonstrates how wacky and out of touch the right-wing has become.

.... "classic "middle ground" approach"..

ANY example will be sufficient..

Just take the health care reform situation for example, Not only did he remove both the Robust Public Option and Medicare Buy In from the bill, He also had a televised summit where he took on many Republican ideas to add in the bill that he passed.

Really? How many Conservative principles were added to Obama's health care bill?

There were actually several, including the insurance mandate.

Can insurance company's now compete across state borders, which would in turn lower costs? Or was that conservative principle excluded from the health care bill?

AGAIN confusing Republican with conservative..

Wait's minute.. insurance mandate Republican???? I call BS!

whacky, out of touch---nelson, landrieu, lincoln, byrd, conrad, durbin...

LOL!

durbin's the WHIP

Obamas campaign promises:

The Current Situation

The country that harnesses the power of clean, renewable energy will lead the 21st century. For too long, politicians in Washington have been beholden to special interests, but no longer. Our new, responsible energy policy recognizes the relationship between energy, the environment, and our economy and leverages American ingenuity to put people back to work, fight global warming, increase our energy independence and keep us safe.
The Solution

*
Chart a new energy future:

President Obama has a comprehensive plan to chart a new energy future by embracing alternative and renewable energy, ending our addiction to foreign oil, addressing the global climate crisis and creating millions of new jobs that can’t be shipped overseas.
*
Invest in clean, renewable energy:

To achieve our goal of generating 25 percent of our energy from renewable sources by 2025, we will make unprecedented investments in clean, renewable energy – solar, wind, biofuels, and geothermal power.
*
Fight climate change:

We will invest in energy efficiency and conservation, two sure-fire ways to decrease deadly pollution and drive down demand. And we will hold special interests accountable as we finally work to address climate change and its potentially catastrophic effects.

Here was Obamas stand on energy before he was elected. No where does it say he would never allow offshore drilling. Looks like he is keeping his promises to me.

he promised never to tax med benefits

he promised unemployment would cap at 8%

he promised to cut the deficit in half in 4 years

he promised to close gitmo

he promised to end dadt

he promised to end the patriot act, detention, rendition...

he promised never to raise taxes on anyone under 200G

he promised to put legislation online

he promised openness and transparency

he promised to do health care on cspan

he promised no lobbyists (then sold out to phrma, aig, the seiu, the aaj, the uaw...)

he campaigned AGAINST mandating individuals buy private medical insurance (he criticized hillary for her stand)

I just threw up. Reading Obama's stance on global warming and Cap and Trade makes me sick. The narcissistic ignorance oozing from Obama is a threat to us all, and our very way of life.

When is that going to happen?

I read it this AM, but all I see is partisan politics.. He is NOT doing what is necessary for America, only his hyper-partisan agenda... I wouldn't even go so far as to say this would be considered throwing a bone.. more like political cover.

If a Republican falls for this, they're even dumber than I give them credit for!

You are right about one thing and that is partisan politics. People that wanted him to drill are now bitching and complaining that he is doing it. Apparently the man can't win.

AGAIN confusing Republican with conservative..

Wait's minute.. insurance mandate Republican???? I call BS!

The insurance mandate was a compromise in exhange for removing the public option. The Republicans and Bluedogs wouldn't even come to the table until the compromise was put in.

insurance mandate?

LOL!

obama's FOUR republican ideas he FLOATED for a DAY in early march:

1. end cornhusker kickback for stiffneck nelson

2. end gatoraid exemption for brother bill

3. incorporate tom coburn's undercover efforts to expose medicare fraud from the inside

and (my favorite)

4. FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS CASH (LOLOLOL!) to STUDY tort reform at the state level

Obama cites GOP ideas as he preps health care plan - Yahoo! News

note: #'s 3 and 4 never became part of the package

Sorry, I know you thought for a moment Obama was doing what is right instead of playing politics with our economy:

“It appears the Northern Atlantic and entire Pacific Coast will now be under a de facto ban” for drilling, said Patrick Creighton, a spokesman for the Institute for Energy Research.

Really? How many Conservative principles were added to Obama's health care bill?

Not all of these have to do with health care but the ones that do are just to name a few.

Senate Republicans Offer More Amendments - Prescriptions Blog - NYTimes.com

Also, Conservative Democrat Bart Stupak made sure Pres. Obama signed an executive order that would eliminate any public funding for abortion. That sounds like something the Republicans would be in favor of. Just because they didn't vote for it doesn't mean that the legislation leaned more towards their direction.

still no link?

Frankly this is puzzling to me because it's out of character for Obama.

Why? He's a smart pragmatic leader. If someone has a safe, low-impact way to do it, then why not?

He still is pushing to destroy the economy with his his climate change and energy bill, to fight problems that does not exist.

Oh, that's right, you're drinking the dark red Kool-aide which renders all honest reasoning and critical thinking skills useless...

This is confusing at best, and makes me wonder what is really going on or is this a misdirection play to once again try to draw attention away from the PHONY Health Plan and all the taxes coming from it.

I'm sure Glenn Beck will be breaking out the chalk board a 5pm... He'll pull the theory out of his ass and you far-righties can eat it up.

every one of those amendments was voted down

they were attempts by the gop to force the party in power to make a change to the reconciliation to force it back into pelosi's place

indeed, republicans succeeded in making dems endorse SEX PERFORMANCE DRUGS FOR SEX OFFENDERS

indeed, the party that EXEMPTS seiu's from cadillacs REFUSED to offer the same SET ASIDE for warriors wounded in OBAMA'S WAR who might have to buy a prosthetic, subject to increased taxation under obamacare

and you cite SUCKERPUNCH STUPAK?!

and his ANEMIC executive order?!

LOL!

LOLOL!

pathetic

I see our liberal brethren still don't get the difference between Conservative and Republican...oh well..

You're right that there is a difference, But it doesn't take away the fact that they still lean towards the right.

I see our liberal brethren still don't get the difference between Conservative and Republican...oh well..

A conservative favors traditional views and values and tends to oppose change.
A republican favors traditional views and values and supports change as long it benefits his base.

I see our liberal brethren still don't get the difference between Conservative and Republican...oh well..

It all depends. I know a lot of people who call themselves "Conservatives" who are anything but.

cap and trade is kaput, this party will never follow president pie-in-the-face over another of his party-killing precipices

Senate Democrats to W.H.: Drop cap and trade - Lisa Lerer - POLITICO.com

Looking at your link, it is amazing that Landrieu and a few other democrat senators are trying to convince their leadership to table cap and trade. Why don't they do the right thing and just vote with the republicans against it if Reid is dumb enough to try it. But no, they must grovel and lick the feet of Reid and Obama, rather than standing up for what their electorate wants.
