Pet shop owner fined £1,000 and told to wear an electronic tag... for selling a GOLD

Re: Pet shop owner fined £1,000 and told to wear an electronic tag... for selling a G

ridiculous.

More reason to read the 2nd Amendment in the broadest manner.

Britain has the 2nd amendment?

No silly, but it won't be long before silly **** like that happens here. Quite honestly I don't like pet shops, and never have.

Which silly ****? Jumping to conclusions based on incomplete evidence? Or people being charged with animal cruelty?

The crazy notion of putting electronic collars on non-violent old ladies. It was overkill, to say the least. If they didn't take her business license then it wasn't serious enough to warrant a freaking collar. You want to defend the British be my guest, but I've seen enough bull**** legislative developments over there in the past few years to convince me they've lost touch with common sense and reality.

Which is why I suspect we do not have all the facts. It does not make sense, so either the system is stupid, or more likely, there is something going on we are unaware of.

You keep going on and on about 'the facts'. Did you actually read the report? Someone ratted out the old woman for allegedly selling pets to minors so their city council set up a sting operation. they sent in a 14 year old boy to buy a goldfish. She sold him one. They arrested her and while there so the cockatiel with an eye infection that hadnt been taken to the vet (though it WAS being treated with eye drops). SO they tacked THAT most HI ANUS (heinous) crime onto the charges. Thank GOD they dedicated the time, effort, manhours, police and court time, to get this horrible ****ing menace off the street. Well...not off the street...just off the street after a curfew.

The 'more to the story' part is bogus. Thats like the police busting into your home in california to arrest you for some petty crime (like...maybe jaywalking, in context) and find you smoking in an apartment complex and arresting you for that as well. It isnt 'more to the story'...its a happy coincidence.

Of course...no ADULT would ever give a goldfish a swirly...

I never understand why people get upset when the law is actually enforced. That 10 $ sting that took maybe 10 minutes so made the streets less safe...

This is what happens when a country lets animal rights groups make their laws.

The sign on her store says she sold fishing bait there too. Guess kids can't use minnows for bait in England either.

Non-violent? If I saw this pair coming down the street, I'd cross to the other side

Do you have some evidence to present, or are you just judging a book by its cover?

Wow. Wow. I...just...wow...

Re: Pet shop owner fined £1,000 and told to wear an electronic tag... for selling a G

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous in the first degree. If she had sold a Pit Bull, or a Lion, Bob Cat, or Crocodile, maybe but a damn gold fish. This is over the top stupid and a was of police time and effort this is hardly a crime worth perusing.

I would think the Police would have much better thing to spend their time on, like say maybe catching terrorists, or bank robbers, murderers or almost anything else.

1000 pounds is $1,522.06 and that's a bit much for a fish worth what at most a buck or two tops?
