RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond police say the bullet that hit a window of Republican Virginia Congressman Eric Cantor's office had been randomly fired skyward.

Amid reports of threats and vandalism against Democrats who voted Sunday for sweeping health care reforms, Cantor said at a Washington news conference Thursday that a bullet was fired into his Richmond office.

In a news release, Richmond police said that the bullet had been fired into the air early Tuesday. It hit the front window of a building that houses Cantor's campaign office as it fell to back earth at a sharp angle.
The round landed on the floor of the office a foot inside a broken window pane. No one was in the building, and police say an investigation has yielded no suspects.

I shot an arrow into the air
It fell to earth, I know not where
But something is sure to hit the fan
'Cause GOP claims attack on Republican

:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

Seriously, though, with all the crap that has been happening in the last few days, I don't blame Cantor for thinking a Democrat did this on purpose. But he should have waited for the police report to come out before sticking his foot in his mouth. LOL.

I'm taking bets that the idiot who did this shot at the wrong office … any takers?

Does that mean Chappy was right? If so, I apologize for my response.

Amazing that a skyward fired bullet that returned at a sharp angle was able to hit the vertical window of a political HQ building at this precise moment in history. What are the odds?

No. Chappy suggested it was someone trying to shoot a Democrat office and actaully just hit a republicans. This looks like someone was shooting mindlessly in the air and it hit it. At least on the initial report.

Did Cantor actually blame this on "Democrats" or did he simply say that there are others besides just democrats that recieve percieved threats or attacks?

Don't know, but that is what is in at the police report.

In other words this was pretty much the same situation that happened to Lou Dobbs a few months back.

What happened to Lou Dobbs. Either I didn't hear about it, or I can't remember it, which is a more likely possibility, given my age. LOL.

Shooting into the air is not mindless. Perhaps he felt forsaken and was pissed at the man upstairs?

Also, the congressman should into new gun regs for his district...

Pretty much my thoughts. A staggering coincidence, if it is one. But it has to be, right? I mean, doing that on purpose (firing in a parabolic arc and hitting your target window) is kinda like kicking your toolkit at your car and fixing the brakes.

It's not just the arc and angle... it's the timing. That big of a coincidence is usually not a coincidence.

Not surprising at all if you think about the angle of attack of the projectile. If it comes in on even a slight angle it will hit. The way to not hit wold be for the weapon to be ischarged straight up paraalle to the window and for that projectile to return precisely parallel to the window hense not get of corse. That would mean the the one firing woul have to stand against the window.

That would not make sense. So it is not amazing at all. Waht is amAZING IS THE PHONEY BALONEY cantor blamed the Democrats for the violence against Democrats and that CANTOR is whining now that he fasley thought that he was the reciopient of the same viollence that he looked the other way at when it was only against Democrats.

CANTOR helps incte the idiot and then blames the victims.

Why was only Cantor's office the only Republican supposedly "attacked". ??

In that area, by gun fire. Yes. If you have different info please post it.

Most likely an accidental or premature discharge of a weapon. Or someone trying to get sympathy for Cantor !!!LOL

I think this is a “all bets are off” kind of outcome. The reality is that my posting was based on a hasty and incorrect understanding of the incident.

It is fortunate for us all that this was not political violence.

No what I meant was that I understand that Cantor's office was the only Republican 's office noted as having been attacked. I know that some Republicans also have recieved vicious phone calls but no violence reported other than CANTOR'S.

Even the phone calls were disgusting. I mean did you hear some so called pro lifers said they hoped sTUPAK WOULD GET CANCER. another Dem Congr man a woman caller threathened to "cutt off his bleeps".

The worst in people was exposed or incited by the Tea Partiers.

How aout that buffoon Tea Party schmuck who posted the brother of VA congressman's address his personal Tea P face book thinking it was the Congressman's and someone cut the gas lines to his brother' ( congressman's ) house.

Instead of the ceam rizing to the top the Tea Party movement has incited the crap to rize to the top. Maybe that is because the Tea Party movement is crap or it is formed by crap people?

Just saying !!!!

This is Cantor's way of looking like a victim. No other Repub has been "attacked". But, he's starting to see that all the anger out there is directed at Dems making the Repubs look like the bad guy. Notice he didn't release his nasty emails or voicemails or whatever they "supposedly" were. :doh

Yeah, someone actually aimed a gun up in the air so that when the bullet came down it would hit that whiney liar's window... hopng to hit Cantor...thru a window... at 1:00 in the morning. Hell-loww!

Oh I see what you meant... as far as I know yes, that was the only (R) office attacked like that.

Well, to be fair, they probably lifted that directly from Sean Penn. Did you hear the phone calls to Jean Schmidt?

A few nut jobs do not define an an entire organization. You don't see people claiming Sean Penn and what he says, or Spike Lee, or even Michael Moore, as reflective of the entire Democratic party, so not sure why you would use a fringe member and make them reflective off tens of thousands of tea party members, unless you just wanted to slander the entire group.

You don't mind then that I can pick out one moonbat from the Democratic / Progressives and then apply them to tens of millions of other Democrats then, right?

It was clear from the outset that this was either a false flag operation or as it turned out not part of some conspiracy.

Anyone wishing to send a message is in my mind more likely to be much more than a single shot.

Too bad this knocks some of the wind out of the sails of both the Left and Right who want to think they are something special and are under attack form some secret hidden conspiracy of haters.

This whole subject is being hyped way beyond the what I believe has really taken place.

What happened to Lou Dobbs. Either I didn't hear about it, or I can't remember it, which is a more likely possibility, given my age. LOL.

Shortly before Dobbs quit CNN there was a report that a stray bullet was shot into his home. Claims flew around that it was a liberal or an illegal immigrant that took the shot but it showed a few weeks later that it was hunters.

This is the key part of the story....

BTW. remember that coffin that was left on a Dem. congress mans lawn?

Didn't happen.

There's just one problem. It wasn't a headquarters for Cantor. It was one of his offices.

Looking at Cantor's website:

Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) :: Republican Whip

The three offices listed are:

4201 Dominion Blvd, #110
Glen Allen, VA 23060

Culpeper

763 Madison Rd #207
Culpeper, VA 22701

Washington, DC

329 Cannon Building
Washington, DC 20515

Neither of those are the Richmond 25 East Main St office.

Furthermore there are no obvious markings that its his office:

Virginia Politics Blog - Police say gunfire that hit Cantor's office was random

Cantor's office is in a small building several blocks from Capitol Square. It has several small offices in it. There are no Cantor signs on the doors or windows. Various Republican candidates have occupied the offices in the historic Reagan Building through the years, including former governor Jim Gilmore.

Here is where the office is located:
25 East Main Street Richmond, VA 23219 - Google Maps

It is located in the 3rd district http://ftp2.census.gov/geo/maps/cong_dist/cd109_gen/cd_based/Virginia/cd109_VA03.pdf

Cantor represents the 7th district http://ftp2.census.gov/geo/maps/cong_dist/cd109_gen/cd_based/Virginia/cd109_VA07.pdf

So the fact that Cantor said: "Just recently I have been directly threatened. A bullet was shot through the window of my campaign office in Richmond this week."

Cantor's claim was disingenuous. He made it seem like he was targeted. The fact is this was completely random. A person would have to jump through a lot of hoops to go through the trouble of shooting at an office building that houses an office for Cantor, which isn't in his congressional district, isn't listed on his website, and has no campaign signs marking it.

I know that Sean Penn is a very loose and often a whackey cannon to say the least but he is not tied to a "movement" nor a party. I will look up to see who Jean Sschmidt is , her name is not ringing familiar right now.

True that "A few nut jobs do not define an an entire organization" but this Tea PARTY crfowd has unleashed more than the usual allotment of whacks.
Even those jerk offs the Code Pinkers have been load and they made some localized trouble but no leaders from any political party meeted and greated them.

What has bohered me is when I listen to the phones calls the Tea's made those people do not sound as if they are of sound mind. The Tea's say that Democratic Congressmen's their nuts should be cut off, that someone will "get them", that they should get cancer.....on and on. Ok we all have seen those digusting signs with BO's picture turned into Hitler, and the Socialist/Commie thing but that is just stupid by stupid. Signs that said "If Brown will not fix it a Brown-ing will" is just plain inciting to do harm.

The Republicans may not have actually concieved or created this Tea PARTY monster but they have been it's midwife And it appears their "morals" coach. !!!!
