Binyamin Netanyahu humiliated after Barack Obama 'dumped him for dinner'

I think it was probably because he had heard that there was to be an announcement that Israel was building more houses in a Palestinian, not settler area in East Jerusalem, or maybe that had even been announced by then.

Two snubs in such a short time is not something many US Presidents would put up with.

Oh I am sure that played a role too, but I feel it was more payback for how Vice President Biden's trip went. I wish President Obama would have taken higher road and not played this stupid little game.

Actually I agree with Dan, this seems more like a response to what happened when Biden was over in Israel. It doesn't excuse it though.

How long do you think it is reasonable to jump and down about that bad act. Does this go on forever?

I'm not sure of the sequence of events but if it is first felt that Biden is being treated disrespectfully and you are doing your best to gloss over that, which the admin did seem to be doing prior to the visit and then almost the very same thing is done to you yourself - do you not think any President would think they were taking the piss out of him. Not acting as a friend or being respectful.

No I think it will be the end of it now. I can't imagine that Netanyahu didn't think President Obama wouldn't react in some way for what happened with Vice President Biden. So now that President Obama got his pay back for a lack of a better word, it will probably be the end of this. But like I said earlier it doesn't excuse President Obama's actions.

It depends if it is a fake bad act as is commonly promoted and ranted about by Liberals then it may never stop. It's kind of like Obama's bad act of blaming others for his failures.

If it is an actual bad act by the Amateur in Chief then is might run a couple of days up to two weeks.

Then he would have heard wrong. Everything I have heard from credible sources is that no one actually lived in this area where the new building was approved and that the land was legally purchased more than twenty years ago.

Ok, I live in the UK. That is what our news said. It is obvious that a lot of people here have no interest in peace, but Obama is trying for that and the actions which Israel is taking given that the Palestinians want East Jerusalem for their capital is as Justbubba said, eating the pizza which you are supposed to be discussing dividing.

Here is what Israel said on it in August 09

According to the Shas minister, continued construction in Jerusalem and the settlement blocs that will remain in Israel's possession in a peace deal will be made possible only in the framework of a US-backed permanent agreement.

Clearly Israel has changed it's mind and just in time for visits from/with the Vice President and President.

I was listening to BBC news on the radio yesterday while driving to work, and they talked about it at length.

Israel does not consider East Jerusalem "Occupied Territory" and stated at the time that neither East Jerusalem nor Golan Heights were subject to the moratorium on new settlement construction.

So what about the West Bank? That's where the freeze was 'supposed' to be... right?

I guess not...

(and if it takes you awhile, Beitar Illit is in the West Bank)

I find it funny how a Conservative from Texas wants to defend socialists while at the same time our money situation isnt exactly healthy.

I let it go the first time but now I have to call you on it.

Democratic republic. That is the Polish government. This isn't the 80s.

In any case however Then maybe the Polish should buy the system from us. Its not the job of the American people to defend the scum filled socialist hell hole that is Europe.

You are painting WAY too big of a brush. Yes most countries in Europe are socialist but Poland is NOT one of them. There is a big difference between Eastern and Western Europe.

You also ignored my point that they have been a staunch ally of ours.

Hard to make a judgement considering the utter lack of details in the article.

all you have to do is press the button which says 'read complete story'.

Why am I not surprised to learn that Barack Obama is snubbing Netanyahu? Like all Muslims and Islamic sympathizers, they don't like Israel.

But who will defend us when Al-Qaeda sends in its navy and airforce?

Thank you. Our nation has sacrificed more persons to protect others nations. Euro hates us, Israel uses us. We have our own crap to fix at home.
Great Brittan is the only nation I think we should help.

That clearly says nothing

If Israel has any interests in peace then she would need to understand concessions are needed. She may say it is not occupied but the UN does not.

I notice you are Christian and extreme. Someone gave me a link to a Christian party once which fully supported Israel but only because they were going to get something out of this. They also had some murkey anti Jew stuff going on.

Hope we don't have another religious act wanting their oar in.

He's from the UK

The construction in Beitar Illit received a permit long ago, under the Olmert government.

I don't care when it "received" its permit. If your country tells me they are going to agree to a 10 month settlement freeze in the West Bank, I expect them to abide by it... at least for longer than 3 months. I'm glad the Palestinians have boycotted the talks. Why should they have to negotiate when the borders of their future state are getting smaller and smaller?

The freezing means that no new constructions would be approved.
This construction has received its approval long ago, during Olmert's time.

I'm disappointed to hear this.
Peace in my eyes is a superior cause, and I agree with my country stance to negotiate even when my country's civilians are being bombed by Palestinian rockets.

A settlement freeze means no construction. Or does the word 'freeze' only apply to certain items? Kind of like how the word militant applies to policemen and legislators to Israel.

Peace is always a superior cause. Aggression, like building in occupied territory, is not a path to peace. Neither is blockading an entire strip of land because a certain political party wins an election.

It was more than understandable from Netanyahu's declaration that settlements that are ongoing will be finished, and no new buildings will be approved.

Or because a certain political party marks its stance to kill innocent human beings based on their nationalities, showing their kids their favorite shows on TV like how to kill a Jew or what it means to be a martyr.

New Housing Approved in Beitar Illit - Politics & Gov't - Israel News - Israel National News
Despite the construction freeze, Defense Minister Ehud Barak has given approval for the construction of 112 apartments in Beitar Illit.

The approval for this construction didn't even happen during Olmert's term. The approval happened less than a week before that article was posted.

You've obviously missed a big passage here:
The construction in Beitar Illit received a permit long ago, under the Olmert government, but foundations have not been laid, due to “infrastructure problems and safety issues.” For this reason, Barak granted the project an exemption from the freeze.
