House GOP No. 2: Someone shot at my office

Rep. Eric Cantor, the number two Republican in the House of Representatives, said Thursday that a bullet had been shot through a window at his district office in Richmond, Virginia. He also said he had received threatening messages.

He said he would not publicly release the messages out of concern that doing so would only incite further violence.

He also accused Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine and Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland - a member of the Democratic House leadership - of "fanning the flames" of violence by using threats that have been made against Democratic members "as political weapons."

"Enough is enough," Cantor said. "It has to stop."

Wait a sec ... I thought liberals hated guns ...

I'm waiting for our left wing friends to accuse Republicans of being behind this... because to your point, liberals couldn't own or shoot a gun. That would be unthinkable.

Wait a sec ... I thought liberals hated guns ...

Clearly this was a conservative plant! :doh

Hope they find out who it was. Bullets don't solve problems ever.

...and thus, the start of the second Civil War. :doh

If there ever is a second civil war in this country, let's hope the first shot isn't fired by some dumbass breaking the law. This kind of thing is stupid, regardless of the political affiliation of the person committing the act.

Agree. Leave the violent crap to the ELF and other whackos.

I'm taking bets that the idiot who did this shot at the wrong office … any takers?

If people are going to start doing things like this, they can at least learn to aim.

Pathetic.

So many liberals have dissolved into weak kneed apologists for the violent extremists among their ranks.

Their failure to condemn these initial acts of domestic terrorism will encourage and give comfort to the instigators and ensure that there will be more terrorism committed in our land.

It's the gang that couldn't shoot straight … they got the wrong office.

[It's a shame you couldn't offer your own blanket condemnation of violence Chappy.]

And, maybe there's another more important observation than merely that these people appear to be utterly foolish in their misdeeds. And that is, when one attempts to victimize political opponents: the act itself reflects not on the character and politics of the target but rather that of the aggressor.

These recent acts bring discredit and disfavor to the supporters of health care reform; whatever merits their arguments may have had, they are brushed aside by the horror and dismay people feel towards these arbitrary acts of violence.

More important, we have entered a new era of domestic terrorism and some liberals have forgotten the central principle that under girds our
representative democracy: everyone has the right to vote their conscience.

Today, those memory impaired liberals are rapidly becoming the greatest terrorist threat to our Republic and our way of life.

There are wackos on the left too. Many believe the Republicans want people to "shut up and die." I know many who vehemently hate Republicans because they were propagandized by Democrat rhetoric to believe that Republicans want all the poor to die so that only the rich can have treatment. They see these Republicans as fighting so that "thousands" of people can die each day because of how the healthcare system is without the Dems reform. Regardless, these actions are atrocious. I wonder if the media will focus on this though...

You don't go around shooting into someones home because you don't like their politics, end of story. Try not to let the spin get in the way of what actually matters.

Somehow I doubt Janet Napolitano will see it the same way. She's way too worried about those evil Conservatives.

Q: How do you know it was a Liberal?
A: He missed.

Q: How did you know it was a conservative?
A: He knew where the trigger was.

And in todays other breaking news Eric Cantor caught "diddling" someone elses wife. - Mrs Cantor buying more amunition.

More at six. Now the weather.

I wouldn't take Right's comments too seriously. While I'm sure there was some truth behind it I imagine it had more to do with Chappy's reply to Coronado in THIS thread.

Fundamentally speaking he has a point. Bullets don't ever really solve "problems".
They just take out the symptoms every now and then.
:doh

I guess that depends on how you define the terms...

Where is misterman running in to condemn this?

If the liberals want to label all republicans as racists for an alleged racial remark can we label all democrats attempted murderers now?

Sure, if you wanted to be as ridiculous as they are.

And if you want to be a hypocrite if at any point you were scolding Democrats for labeling all republicans racist for alleged racial remarks.

It was a chance to throw the "Hypocrite" label, they just can't help it.

I'm just glad whatever moron fired the shot didn't hurt anyone in the process.

I didn't say you were, I was answering your sarcastic rhetorical question. In part because based on the posting habits and history of some posters here I wouldn't be surprised at all to see some people doing that (and already some have in other thread talking about how its "the left" that does this stuff, as if either side has a monopoly or that either side should simply be lumped in with such acts)

Well I am glad the shooter missed, if he was aiming for anyone. I hate idiots like this. There is a right way and a wrong way to show disagree with one's politics and this is sure as hell the wrong way.
