Arizona sheriff launches immigration sweep

Researching his expired tabs was the investigation....
Maybe you could have looked like someone in the posted on the wall of the local precinct, that would be probable cause for further investigation....;)

And maybe I could have been Osama bin Laden, but I'm not.

And what research is necessary for expired tags and how would a passenger be involved in that investigation?

I have, in the past, flat out refused to produce ID for a cop because he didn't give me a clear explanation of why he was asking for my ID.

The cop then tried to goad me into doing something stupid by calling me names.

I then asked him for his ID so I knew who I should name in my complaint report. Legally he has to show ID when he's on duty.

Joe's the hero....... the guttless politicians are in Washington, but you knew that.

Personally, I think Joe's the gutless politician here because he seems far more interested in showboating and pandering for the retard vote than he does in actually solving criminal issues.

So, let's be clear, Partisan. You are in favor of the police walking up to people on the street, stopping them for zero reason, and demanding ID. If no ID is proffered, they get hauled off to jail with ZERO SUSPICION OF CRIMINAL ACTIVITY and held until they prove that they're a citizen. And that seems legal to you and how the police should be doing business?

you almost have it, you omitted "lie your ass off and make up some bull**** for probable cause."

I already explained that scenario......:doh

You are entitled to your opinion, but where's your 'probable cause'?......:ssst:

How many times do you have to be told that manufacturing probable cause is ****ING ILLEGAL?

Cat, have you ever seen a cop go just a bit faster than the speed limit without his lights on?........ that too is illegal. Have you ever heard of a cop going faster than 10 miles over the speed limit with his lights on?.... that too is illegal in California. Cops do illegal things all the time, like who is going to write them a ticket?

Move to Arizona and vote him out. they seem to like him.

Given that I worked for a police department for 5 years, I've seen a lot of things that would probably make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck, crunch, while you wet your pants. I've been shot at, I've on-viewed gang shootings, and I've been involved in more pursuits than I can even count. I spent hundreds of hours working on the streets with gang suppression officers between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.

But I never, not even once, saw an officer I was working with manufacture probable cause.

I did see an LAPD officer do it once. The very thing that CRASH went down for...And it caught up with them and bit them in the butt, too. Some of the CRASH officers are now serving (pretty hard) time with the gang members they once patrolled.

Come on, just how are you going to prove that an officer didn't act in good faith?.....

Just tell the judge, they will always take your word over another officer of the court.

Planting evidence is another matter entirely.....;)

If officers are manufacturing probable cause, they're committing other ethical violations. It's a slippery slope when you stop being the good guys.

And I clearly stated that I NEVER in hundreds (thousands?) of hours on the street saw an officer manufacture probable cause.

Way to read.

That was in respose to the CRASH reference.....;)
Maybe you were working in the wrong precincts.....

Where did you explain how the passenger is in any way important to an expired tag "investigation"?

Officer to Judge. I thought he looked like a want that I saw at the station.

I was working in the highest gang crime areas in the city. I worked with gangs, narcotics, and other units. Since that time, I've worked with law enforcement in a dozen other communities, including Los Angeles. Falsifying probable cause is a major ethical violation. Cops who are not bothered by the idea of it worry the crap out of me, and I don't want them on the streets. They are a danger to themselves and other officers, and they do a lot of harm.

LEO's have a responsibility to be above reproach. We need them to follow the law and respect the constitution. It is a position of public trust.

That there are people on this thread who don't "get" something so fundamental is ****ing disturbing.

That's all it takes for further investigation.....:)
She knows it & won't admit it.....;)

It's easy to defeat. They'll have to produce a wanted poster that resembles the person in question enough to argue that the probable cause existed. The officer can only claim he got it wrong so many times before it becomes clear that he's not fit for duty due to having a severely flawed case of "Everyone looks like a wanted poster to me".

Who cares?..... if a cop wants to see ID, they will see ID.

Lawyer to judge: We'd like some evidence of this because we believe it is a lie. I'd like to see the picture.

(Shows judge pic)....
Judge, 'Well there is a resemblance there, I'm going to dismiss the defense request & send this to trial, your status as an illegal immigrant requires your request for bail be denied & you are to be remanded, next case"......:2razz:

I understand that creating probable cause is a huge ethical violation and should be punished severely by any department where it occurs. Law enforcement officers cannot be seen to be above the law, but have to uphold it. They are there to serve, not to be thugs with badges.

I seriously despair for this country after reading this ****ing thread. You people scare me a hundred times worse than the people who are promoting state-run healthcare, because you are advocating the violation of the fundamental tenets of our society.
