"All Black People" Asked to Leave S. Jersey Wal-Mart

The north/south angle makes me think about what Faulkner said about race. To paraphrase it he said, "The North loves them (African Americans) as a race but hates them as a people. The South loves them as a people but hates them (African Americans) as a race."

I found this funny.

Just think, hundreds of thousands of people are now laughing at how absurd racism is.

As I am.

The absurdity factor is key in all race jokes.

If you DON'T laugh, I would say you harbor some bigotry towards another race.

Anyone who is racist is absurd and shows their stupidity by being so.

If this was NOT a prank, and the person was actually racist, then the entire country is laughing at how stupid racists are.

Or at least some of them are.

Those two stupid people who are talking about boycotting Wal – Mart...

/sigh

Either way, laughter is good for you, and some people laughed, probably more than were actually upset.

So all in all, a positive event, I think.

Yes; of course that is correct. The children and 60-year-old Jim Crow survivors present at the time of the incident are the real villains in this story.
How dare they not find racism funny? F'ing racists.
They should've at least pretended to find it humorous, so as not to discomfit those who were trying to enjoy a good guffaw about the "absurdity" of racism.
Somebody ought to kick their non-laughing asses for being so depressing and trying to rain on everybody else's parade.

My comments were more directed at those people who are upset about this.

The parents of those children should be sure to explain how totally absurd and thus funny racism is.
Teach them to break down in uproarious laughter when someone is racist around or at them.
After all, the point of racism is to hurt people.
So if they, instead of being hurt, nearly die of laughter, it takes all the "fun" out of it for the racist.

And, really, how can you not find racism absurdly funny?

The blatant stupidity that is required to be racist is downright hilarious.

While I understand some people have yet to grasp this, I wish that they would.

It would make the world a better place.

Why do you think racism is funny? People who are discriminated against are not laughing.

What is funny is that the majority of people are not laughing at the absurdity. Of course most will not be honest about that so oh well.

I bet the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto were rolling with laughter.

Hopefully that last comment will put it into perspective for you.

Can't it be funny and offensive at the same time? I think it's kind of funny but I can also understand why some people would be upset over it.

Yes they can. I wish they would be honest about why it was funny.

Absurdity my ass. It is NOT absurd, it has happened to some of us. Nothing absurd about that.

Because I know it exists. I have seen it firsthand, not just once but many times.
It's hurtful and destructive and dehumanizing, and not funny in the slightest.

What's wrong with you people?
Dear God, no wonder I never leave my house unless forced to.

Why is it ok that racism is funny to black people - it is a core area of humor and jokes for black standup comedians - but not to white people? Anecdotal evidence suggests that blacks are the most racist people out there.

I just don't see why it's such a big deal. I'm sure the initial reaction for a few people was unsettling, but I'm sure they've recovered emotionally since then. Really, some dude got on the PA system and said something racist. It's kind of funny, and it's also offensive to certain people. I'm not sure if this is "Breaking News" or even newsworthy at all.

Why is it ok that racism is funny to black people - it is a core area of humor and jokes for black standup comedians - but not to white people. I mean blacks are the most racist people out there.

So, this "prank" is funny because it's sort of putting them in their place, like?
I mean, after all, if an entire race of human beings are "the most racist people out there", in your opinion... it must make you feel kind of warm and tingly inside to see them get their comeuppance, eh? To see them publicly humiliated?

Make no mistake: this was humiliating.

Black people are a minority in this country.
I have no idea the situation in New Jersey, but where I live, there are probably even fewer black people than the national average.
In a Walmart on a crowded day, there might be one or two black individuals or families. There might be none.

Now think about being that minority.
Think about what you'd feel like if you were one of only two white people shopping in a large discount store where all the other shoppers were black.
Imagine that an announcement was suddenly broadcast throughout the store, instructing all white people to leave.
Half the people in the store burst out braying like donkeys (but only because of the "absurdity", wink-wink, nudge-nudge).
How do you feel?
Probably like a giant spotlight's suddenly been turned on you.
Everybody's eyeballing you to see what your reaction will be.
You don't know what to do. Leave, certainly. But you've got to get to the door first, and it's a long, long walk, through all that braying and smirking.
You're confused. Who all was in on this? All the braying jack-asses? Was this the work of one disturbed individual? If so, why the f' is everybody laughing? If you have your children with you, you're fluctuating between anger and fear. Should you complain to a manager? But whoever did this obviously works here. Would it do any good?

Are you able to imagine that? Being the only white in a store full of blacks and having an announcement come over the intercom instructing all white people to leave the store?

Well, if you can, congratulations. You have a good imagination.
But you still don't know what black people in that store felt like, because in your imaginary scenario, you can still walk out of the offending store and blend effortlessly back into a nation- a culture, a society- where your race comprises not only the majority, but also the power structure.

And that is not something a black person in this country can ever, ever do.

Ok, I have not been clear enough.

It's the absurdity that is funny, not the racism.

Racism/bigotry I hate, in all it's forms.

But it's still absurdly funny.

I mean, seriously, predetermining your opinion on someone just because they are of a different genetic makeup?

Stupid.

And absurd.

And funny BECAUSE of its absurdity.

Hitler had absurdly funny opinions about Jews.

If he had been just one bigoted mother****er, ranting about such bull****...Then I would laugh at his absurdity.

But he sought power, gained it, and used that power to make his stupid bigoted views law.

That reduced the humor factor greatly, because of the horrors and death directly linked to him.

But it's still absurd, and causes a painful mental chuckle at the total absurdity of it.

Over react much?

Jesus ****ing christ I'll be glad when people with your mindset are finally in the minority, instead of the rampant over reacting "get pissed about everything and take everything personally, and OMG HE SAID <insert race here>, I SHOULD BE PISSED AND FEARFUL!!!" Gimme a break. If people in the store got angry and fearful or humiliated (WTF?) over those couple of words, then they probably need to get out and socialize a bit more.

Again, it's all their fault, right?
First they were "the real racists"; now they're oversensitive, reclusive freaks who just need a tampon to dry their tears with.
No doubt the perpetrator of this "prank" was merely trying to help them get over their "issues".
He was merely trying to show them the absurdity of it all, so that everyone could put race behind them once and for all, link hands, and sing "Kumbaya".
He probably deserves a congressional medal of honor for his efforts.
Perhaps Walmart will promote him to CEO or something.

Again with the over-reacting. Gotta love it!

Someday.... someday... this kind of over-reacting bull**** will be a distant memory.

You are trying to suggest this guy was on the same level as a comedian? Or are you just going completely of course for a reason?

Anecdotal evidence suggests that blacks are the most racist people out there.

Anecdotal evidence as well as department of justice statistics would also suggest that white men are most likely to be child molesters, so what?

So because you know some racist blacks, we all must be much more racist than anyone else?

This is the absolute limit.
Explain.

What is NOT absurdly funny (in a painful way) about Hitlers opinions of Jewish people?

How am I wrong?

I'll let the Cap'n do that for me.

The majority of people do not find the "absurdity" of Hitlers views on Jews funny in any way. People are not laughing at the absurdity. They are laughing at the reactions of the stunned people and the embarrassment they would have suffered.

The absurdity thing is just a way to try and make themselves feel better. To not seem like the incredible ass holes we all can be.

Well...I suppose I shall have to wait.

But I was so looking forward to an explanation of how I am wrong.

Seriously.

I could be, but I can’t see where as of this moment.

Nope, I didn't find this "prank" to be funny at all.

No, I didn't find it funny. I was OT.

True enough.

So because you know some racist blacks, we all must be much more racist than anyone else?

Blacks are much more prone to express racism. It doesn't mean all blacks are racist or that no whites are racist. It just means that blacks express racism more than whites. Ever hear of the denigration of a "white man's education"? How ****ing ignorant and stupid.

Oh really? According to whom?

Ever hear of the denigration of a "white man's education"? How ****ing ignorant and stupid.

When I was in elementary school through the mid to late 1960's the only blacks I remember being taught about were Crispus Attucks, Benjamin Banneker, George Washington Carver and Constance Baker Motley. At home I knew few more famous blacks like Willie Mays, Nat King Cole and Lena Horne, but I new what they did not seem very important. In school only the three dead ones that the teachers seemed to hold in any esteem or even mention. Crispus died for freedom; George did many things with peanuts; Benjamin drew plans for constructing the nation's capitol and made a clock, while Ms. Motley became a federal judge. That was it! Anybody else who did anything great or important was white.

It was not until the mid 1070's and early 1980's any kind of history included the contributions of Africans and Chinese to Mathematics, Egyptians to agriculture etc. Even in regular school subjects it was said the Greeks pretty much invented everything.

You wonder why this is siad now?

Welcome to my world.

Hitler had absurdly funny opinions about Jews.

What the hell was so funny about rounding up, torturing and killing innocent people?

Nevermind. I don't want to know your response.
