Why? Because I point out that this is NOT a "Christian Country".

Why does that mean that I hate this country? Quite to the contrary, I think those who try to claim that this IS a "Christian Country" are the ones who hate the values under which this country was formed.

This is NOT a Christian Country and never has been. This country was set up as a religious neutral country, allowing people to practice what religion (or none) that they chose.

Why do you feel the need to try to exert moral superiority over people in this country who choose to practice a different religion (which is protected by the US Constitution).

Tell me Navy, why do you hate our Constitution so much?

If this is not a Christian country then why is God everywhere in this country? On our money, in the pledge of allegiance, in the entrance to the SCOTUS, on our historical documents...Why is there a Christian prayer led by a minister said every morning before Congress begins? I could go on and on. I know you hate these things. That is why I advised you to move to China or Cuba. You would not have to worry about a God there........

Why don't YOU move to a country where the state sponsors a religion and there is no freedom to worship outside that realm. It sounds like that is what YOU are advocating...not me.

Your post just shows how close-minded and intolerant you truly are. So "GOD" only belongs to "Christians"? Try telling that to people of other faith. Hate to tell it to you Navy....but GOD does exist outside of your perverted version of "Christianity".

You are the one claiming that GOD is a "Christian" concept and speaking condescendingly towards those who do not buy into your perverted brand of "Christianity".
What you are really saying is that you "like your country" if it is the way that you want it to be, i.e., everyone being forced by the government to adhere to right-wing "Christian" beliefs. That is certainly not the principles that this country was founded on.....so yes, Navy....you are picking and chosing what you want to believe about our Constitution.

You need to realize, Navy....that this Country belongs to all of us, not just your right-wing ilk.
America exists as a diverse country....religiously and otherwise. We are not a Christian Country, we are a country with freedom of religion.

I often wonder how our nation would recieve an influx of people like, say, Taliban type Muslim's? I would suppose their welcome, (or lack thereof,) would be not much different than the welcome Israeli has gotten over there amongst the 100,000,000 Arabs you speak of.

I am one who thinks that if one chooses to sleep with dogs, they deserve to get fleas.

You are so full of it DD... I claimed Jesus Christ established the Catholic Church and since Jesus is one of three persons The Father, Son and Holy Spirit by virtue he is the leader Of the Church but everyone knows he was born a Jew........

At almost every western countries base values is Christianity. However, the government should be religion neutral, or would you prefer to be a theocracy?

And just because someone thanks Obama for not being a complete moron and saying he has brought dignity back to the White House does not make him a worshipper.

I'm kinda glad I don't live in America, people from all sides think they can just label you a certain thing, put you in a little box and call you names for it. That **** aint right.

Sorry Navy....but GOD does not belong to the "Christians" and this is not a Christian country no matter how many times you try to claim it is.

Our Country was founded on the idea of free exercise of any religion, not just your perverted brand of "Christianity".

I myself am a follower of Christ, but I don't purport, like you do, that it makes me morally superior to others who practice a different religion.

Sorry...but this is not nor has it ever been a "Christian" Country. The United States of America belongs to all of its citizens.

I'm not Christian, our founding was not Christian either. It was based on political philosophies which included natural rights as a base; but it's not a "christian" founding. Some of the propaganda used appeals to religion because it's easy to use religion to get people to back your cause. But none of the actual documents, such as the Constitution, rely on gods.

It's fair to say we are a religious nation,but to say we are a Christian nation is ludicrous. Our values that we have do not stem ONLY from the Christian religion.

If we are a Christian nation, why isn't there Jesus Christ somewhere on our money?

We are a religious nation of different faiths, but we are not a Christian nation.
 
The pledge was added later as propaganda to combat the "godless" commies. The money is standard propaganda. There is no reliance to god in the Constitution which is the actual document to create government. So I guess "in all our founding documents" was maybe a misrepresentation on your part. In fact, many founders were deists and some may have even been atheists. Thomas Jefferson in personal letters to his son warned him about the pitfalls of deity worship.

Now, how many of the 10 commandments are laws? If we are to be a "christian" country how much is codified into law? Thou shall not kill, thou shall not steal, I'll give thou shall not bear false witness but that's only true in court settings. What else? Honor god above all? No false deities? Keep holy the sabbath? Honor thy mother and father? Adultery? Etc? I think maybe you have 30% of the 10 commandments codified into law. Why in a "christian nation" do we not have christian rules?

GOD does not belong to "Christians". GOD on money, GOD in the pledge does not reference a preference for any religion over any other. Isn't that Great!!!
Because our country is founded on the free exercise of religion, it does not dictate your hope that everyone worship your version of "Christianity".

Haven't you noticed that many different denominations give the prayer offered every morning in Congress. It is not a "Christian Prayer".

I know that you badly want the government to sponsor your version of Christianity as a national religion so that you can claim this is a "Christian" country....but this is not and has never been a "Christian" country, no matter how bad you would like it to be.

What God do you think they are referring to........The Buddist God? The Islam God.......They are talking about the Christian God and you know it..........

I believe in the Separation between church and state but that does not take away from the fact that we live in a Christian Country which has nothing to do with the government........

That's absolutely not true. It refers to a higher power...it doesn't refer to Jesus Christ, Buddah, Allah or any specific God.

Why would our government EVER take a position in promoting one religious view over another?

Face it Navy, you are dead wrong. This is not, nor has it ever been a "Christian" Country. All you have to do is look at the founding documents of this nation to see that this nation was set up on relgious neutrality. As much as you and the evangelical world want our country to embrace its distorted view of "Christianity", it goes against the very core principles of this country.

I was surprised to find that the almost all the defenders at the Alamo were Freemasons. And a Welshman.

Limiting the options to one deity excludes a lot of gods. Being three for the price of one, that excludes Christianity completely.
