Court upholds 'under God' in Pledge of Allegiance

So the right to free speech isn't protected in the First Amendment? Please elaborate. I would love to hear it ...

Lets just say the originators would roll over in their graves if they saw what a sham people like you on the far left have made of the first amendment....

Non-responsive answer. I'll try again: Is the right of free speech protected in the First Amendment?

Here's the text:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

You don't know that? I thought you were smarter then that, not.....I will try and educate my left wing friend......Yes it is but you still can't holler fire in a theather or other outrageous statements and say they are protected by the first amendment.....Any time you need a little education on the amendments or the constitution I will be glad to help you....Have a nice day

So "liberals" advocate "holler"ing fire in a crowded building? Is that the sort of speech you are complaining of?

I'll just assume that is a ridiculous red herring and you can't come up with any coherent examples.

Yhat is what we call in the trade and example my left wing friend....You did not know that either? You added the word Liberal......

Why don't you quit while you are only losing by a little bit OK..........

That makes no sense whatsoever.

I am sorry, I thought it might be over your head...I grow bored with this.....Have a nice day.....
Scamper on back when you can think of a legitimate example to go with your allegation.

Damn, is this thread still going?

What is there left to discuss?

Then again, I skipped reading all 25+ pages of it, so perhaps there is something in there...

However, my take on the variously located lingering phrases mentioning a deity (I think that covers most of it) is that much bigger issues exist. It's almost a tradition for such to be the case, not any real attempt to create a theocracy.

Not that I approve of any relationship between government and religion (outside the obvious personal religion(s) of the various government officials).

But it just seems a waste of time to...waste time on such minor issues.

This is another case of a court making laws contrary to constitutional enumerations.

Stating your political ideology is NEVER anywhere close to yelling "Fire" in a theater.

I agree that on the surface this seems like a relatively minor issue. There are religious organizations in the US that do have a theocratic agenda and it would be wise to pay attention to them.
