Lil Wayne Begins 1-Year Jail Term in NYC Gun Case

NYC is pretty serious about this stuff though. I think Plaxico Burress is doing 2 years for shooting himself in the leg.

Thank god my route is west of the Mississippi then,of course i,m legal in all of the states i travel in now...almost.:2wave:

Possession of a firearm itself is not illegal. Possession of a loaded firearm is. But don't let the facts stop you. The fact that he has so many prior convictions is just adding to it. But please tell us all how you plan on calling sending a famous criminal to jail is a bad thing. And which statements haven't I been able to back up? I'd like to see them. ;)

Whenever you go off on your anti-libertarian tangents which add nothing to the topic. But as I said, I'm sure you'll do it again. So don't sweat it. Some people are just angry.

And besides, he had a loaded gun on his bus; his bus. Less he was threatening others with it, I see no problem. And he may be a famous "criminal" because ooooo he had drug convictions, scary. But there are far worse people out there than Lil' Wayne. Just having the gun shouldn't make one a felon. But don't let that stop your hyperbole and anti-libertarian angst.

"Grammy Award-winning rapper"...

That's like Pulitzer-prize winning author of dirty limericks...

Aye, it's best to stay away from places so unreasonable like that.

And so you can't back up your own assertion? Oh okay. Well, I guess I'm not so wrong about libertarians. Why don't you go grab a thesaurus and tell us all how many synonyms the word liberty has?

And besides, he had a loaded gun on his bus; his bus.

Irrelevant.

Less he was threatening others with it, I see no problem.

Well of course you wouldn't see a problem with a criminal who has a huge wrap sheet having a loaded gun. It is the reason real people exist in the real world and Libertarians only exist on the internet.

And he may be a famous "criminal" because ooooo he had drug convictions, scary. But there are far worse people out there than Lil' Wayne.

Great. When they are found with a loaded gun on them when they shouldn't have one, they can go to jail too.

Just having the gun shouldn't make one a felon. But don't let that stop your hyperbole and anti-libertarian angst.

Still waiting for this :

make statements which you can't back up and are shown wrong on again.

But I suppose you won't bring them up just tell us all how you feel about things you dislike.

A huge rap sheet of what? Drug possession charges? Please. What is on that "huge rap sheet" is of importance. Did he do armed robbery? Assault with a fire arm? Attempted murder? If those things are on there, I may agree with you. But a list of drug possession hardly makes one John Dillinger.

Fact of the matter is, I professed disgust at a law and you took the opportunity to jump on your high horse, stand that horse on your soap box, and launch into your anti-libertarian insults...again. Anyone who has seen enough of your posts knows you have a penchant for the melodramatic when it comes to your uncontrolled hostility and anger towards libertarians.

.... I don't understand conservatives when it comes to rap music. All the conservatives go on FOX News saying it is bad because it is offensive to women, children and whoever the other poster child is and promotes violence. But a rapper gets put in jail for having a gun even though 90% of his lyrics are about killing people and now he'll be welcomed in Texas? LOLwut?

What's violent about minding your own business in your "home away from home"?

:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Translation - You are legally allowed to have a gun to protect yourself, as long as you keep it in such a condition that, if you are attacked, you are unable to load it in time to save your own life. And if, by some miracle, you ARE able to somehow load it, and drop the attacker before he kills you, then you go to prison, because you now have a loaded gun.

Yup, THAT is typical government logic. LOL.

Again as an American he has the right to keep and bear arms.

This is one more thing he needs to add in.

I really can't believe you can get in trouble for simply having a loaded gun, and a felony no less.

I know this is bad, but I don't care if he was sentenced for eating macaroni and cheese with ketchup. I hate Lil Wayne.

Unfortunately, this will make him sell even more records because in the rap world, the more stupid **** you do, the more records you sell.

Possession of an unloaded firearm is actually also a crime, it's just 4th degree instead of 3rd degree. That makes it an A misdemeanor instead of a D felony.

Also, re: his prior convictions, do you know if any of them were felonies? I can't imagine that they were, otherwise he would have been charged as a felon in possession which is much harder. I could be wrong though.

I usually don't get to worked up about gun control and I am not someone who really cares if they make laws against military type guns, but that is ridiculous.

"NY safe from Crippler and his arsenal, the City rejoices" - NY Times:applaud

If Crippler was only keeping his weapons for personal defense, how does that constitute a threat to NYC? Hmmmmm?

IT is a threat because he is less dependent on big brother for his personal safety. That upsets the nanny state socialists and that is why he is being prosecuted. Guns make people less dependent on the government and armed people are less likely to cede their rights to a government in return for illusionary promises of more safety
