Feds consider brake override on new cars

Try it sometime. Most cars steering wheel locks when the key is turned off.

Only if you're stupid enough to turn it all the way back. Turn it to "Accessory", and it steers, but without the power steering boost.

That is a great idea, so that way when your gas pedal is stuck, you are racing down the highway at 100 plus MPH, you can just turn off the ignition and as a result lock the steering column.

It's amazing that a southerner doesn't know how cars work.

But us yankees, we pay attention to our cars.

Either way, we all pretty much agree turning off the car should be the last resort if neutral doesn't work. (except scarecrow)

Hello? If the throttle is stuck to the point where the brakes can't control the car, putting it in Neutral will only resolve the going to fast issue and create the Pistons Shooting Out Every Which Way Issue.

Given that I drive a van and sit next to the engine, the Pistons Shooting Out Every Which Way Issue is kinda important.

My accessory is past the off position, Numbnuts. It goes acc, off, on, start. Most newer cars are like this.
Why are you still here? You have absolutely no credibility after stating that air bags killed more people than they saved. I am still rolling on the ground after that ignorant comment.
