Looks to me that Pelosi, sitting in her very secure seat representing ultra-liberal San Francisco, is only too happy to throw her Democratic colleagues under the train in order to advance her own political agenda. She's a real sport, isn't she?
I don't quite get her rationale here. They are elected representatives who are supposed to represent the will of the people of their own districts, right? They aren't supposed to represent the will of Nancy Pelosi's district, correct? But, Pelosi seems to think that other Democratic lawmakers should go against the will of the people of their own districts in order to pass a law that will cause them to get voted out of office, all for the good of the American people who don't want the law passed. :doh
