Tea Party Movement Lights Fuse for Rebellion on Right

"The Teabaggers are coming!! The Teabaggers are coming!!"

We always keep hearing about these neo-Nazi, KKK, and other right-wing militias preparing to rise up to overthrow the government. It never happens.

Get a grip.
 
So please tell me, if you can answer the question, how do "your typical neighbors and colleagues" intend to use firearms to overthrow the government. Details please, we've all heard the bloviated threats and Jefferson quotes. If these are intelligent people, my "neighbors", what gives them encouragement that "rising up" with firearms will get them anything but arrested?

They are just like your neighbors and colleagues because it's just rhetoric. Even if they yammer about how we need to take back the government by blood if necessary, they won't do it. It's just something to get excited about and talk to your friends and family about...and get into arguments over. Most of these guys are in no way "KKK" or "Montana Men", and the small amount of asses who were silently celebrating what happened this week do not compose of most of the movement.

To me it's nearly a dead movement until they have a political agenda to push through with specific issues, but so far, it's hardly their style. There is some movement, with Rand Paul and the like, and good luck to them, but most of the people who follow Rand Paul and his father are not the fruit loops we keep hearing about. Now, maybe silently they will think that what happened in Texas this week was a sign of things to come, but I give that as much credence as any of my other fellow dumbass neighbors rambling about politics.

This five page report in the NY Times describes how the fringe right is mobilizing under Glenn Beck and even the old John Birchers into a movement that is hording guns and canned goods in anticipation of a nationwide revolt. "We'll go to Washington and take back our country" they say.

My question - exactly how do these people believe they can walk out with firearms and "take back" anything? Exactly who will they be pointing the guns at, and under what circumstances could they possibly get any result other than arrest? There are a lot of people who imply that simply by showing up armed, they can get results. Please explain to me how this would ever work in the real world?

The far-left's disdain for opposing viewpoints is just another symptom of their profligate hypocrisy.

When they protest something it's because they're noble and enlightened, but when other people protest something it's because they're probably fomenting a rebellion and most likely racist.

My advice to the far-left kooks? Keep attacking average Americans for simply voicing their opposition to your radical agenda. It should help you stay in power for a long time...:lol:
 
I don't know where you live, but I live in a republican district in California. None of my neighbors or colleagues, conservative, independents, or otherwise want to have anything to do with what the 'Tea Party' has become.

Typical left-coast elitism.
 
It's against the rules to say that posters are stupid but it's okay to say the NY Times is full of it.

The Tea Perty is a threat to Obama's Socialist/Marxist plans but at the point of pen not a gun.

The Liberal Left radicals and the Obamedia are trying to start trouble with more lies than have already got a gullible buch of idiots to believe.

The only violence has come from Thugs from SUIU and the like that have been brought into places where peaceful protests have taken place to cause trouble doo the Lame Stream 5th column Media can blame it on normal people who have done nothing wrong.

Obama and the Liberal and Radical Left are beginning to get the message that main stream America is not going to take their tactics and antics for ever.

The left will use every dirty trick and lie in the book to try to force good hard working Americans to swallow Obama's anti-American policies and it's not going to work.

I expect that Glenn Beck whom I used to pay no attention to has made more sense the last year than Obama has his whole worthless life.

We face from Obama almost as much tyranny as our Founding Fathers did from King George and I don't mean Bush the uneducated in the crowd.

People like Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and much of both houses of Congress, not to mention the vast majority of the general public.
 
So let me get this straight. You believe a left-leaning rag hanging by a thread from bankruptcy is being honest about these people, who could not be less trusting of the Times' content and don't subscribe?

Do you really think all the people in that picture of Idahoans (is that what they're called) are going to grab their muskets, track to Washington, and start shooting up the place?

C'mon. This is a movement of everyday people who normally sit quietly and overly trust their government finally standing up to what they see is a dramatic and scary shift toward the Europeanization of America. Nothing more.

I suspect youre curmudgeonry is the result of watching your party's political power evaporating like a fart in a whirlwind.

This is such bull. You can't even compare what our Founding Fathers faced to what's currently going on in government.

The Founding Fathers were getting **** on by the British Parliament because Great Britain was going bankrupt fighting wars against France and needed to bring in some revenue or go broke. But they weren't going to increase taxes in Great Britain because it would have been too unpopular. So they increased taxes in their colonies in America. But the colonists resented these taxes because they had no representation in the British Parliament. It wasn't that they were necessarily against the taxes; it was that they had no say in the government that ruled them, and no opportunity to have a say either. That was why the Founding Fathers led to the revolution - so that they wouldn't be governed without their consent.

The thing is these tea partiers DO have the opportunity to be represented in government. It's called "elections." And our elections tend to award whoever wins the most votes with the elected office. This means that you only need a plurality of votes and not a majority of votes. This naturally leads to a two-party system with broad parties to prevent spoilers. This is why business interests and religious conservatives combine their votes against trade unions and environmentalists who combine theirs. This is called Duverger's Law.

So these tea partiers have the opportunity to get their representatives voted into office - but only if they can garner enough votes. If they can't, then they may split the conservative ticket and caused a Democrat to elected into office. And because we have a system of Single-Member Districts, only one person can represent a single district, despite the political diversity of the voters within that district.

So any claim of tyranny is bull. Obama garnered enough electoral votes to become President. Democrats won a large majority in Congress in the elections of '08. In those districts, a plurality of voters chose the Democratic candidate over the others. That was because they rejected the Republican candidate who the voters believed weren't representing their views. Which is how our electoral process works.

If you don't like that fact, then you might want to either make efforts to make the Republican Party more moderate in order to garner more votes or start lobbying for a change in our electoral process in order to allow multiple parties viable to win elected offices since it is our current electoral process that forces us into a two-party system.

But any claim of tyranny on the level of what King George III imposed on the colonies is an insult to what the Founding Fathers went through.

Obama is not a socialist. And even if he was, it is neither illegal nor unconstitutional to be socialist in this country.
