Fox's 'Family Guy' takes on Sarah Palin by appearing to mock her son Trig's Down syndrome

Fox could be heading to Sarah Palin's doghouse after the animated show "Family Guy" appeared to mock her son's Down syndrome on Sunday night.

In the taste-challenged episode, one of the show's characters dates a woman who apparently suffers from Down syndrome. The woman makes comparisons to Palin's 22-month-old son, Trig.

"My dad's an accountant, and my mom's the former governor of Alaska," the mentally disabled character said, without mentioning any names.

Will Sarah Palin now quit her job on FOX News as a result of this? Or will she demand that Family Guy be cancelled? I predict that this could go either way but I doubt she'll quit her job on FOX.

It's free speech, it's protected. I think, if the scene happened as described, it crossed the line and should have been avoided, but it's not as if anything can actually be done.

The whole situation boggles the mind.

First of all, Family Guy didn't...even make a joke with that line. The line, spoken by a girl with down's syndrome, was "my dad's an accountant and my mother is the former governor of Alaska."

... Where's the joke in that? This character has down's syndrome like Sarah Palin's child does?

It's not even "taking on" Sarah Palin. It was just... a useless line designed to make people mad. Way to go, Family Guy writers. Seth MacFarlane is seriously the biggest smug douchebag I've ever seen.

I honestly don't see the big deal. Family Guy crosses the line all the time. Their jokes are completely tasteless and do often go below the belt. This one was no exception. They make fun of everyone and have made it clear that there is no topic too taboo to go after. Why should Sarah Palin be an exception? If you don't like the jokes, don't watch the show. It just seems silly to me to get that bent out of shape over a stupid joke that was made on a cartoon show.

Of course it was a cheap shot. Family Guy often takes cheap shots. That's the whole point. But if you really think that a silly joke on a cartoon show is going to garner her a significant amount of votes you are seriously kidding yourself. It may make some feel bad for her, but I highly doubt that it will make anyone suddenly want to vote for her more. The fact that she may deserve sympathy in this particular instance has nothing to do with her credentials as a politician.

It's my opinion that after all the cheap shots that have been taken against her, that every one from hear on out will only scoop up the sympathy vote for her.

I mean, let's face it, the Leftists have done a good job of making themselves look like assholes with their treatment of Palin. The more they make themselves look like assholes, the more people are going to not vote for them in future elections.

it may not equate to votes for Palin, but sure as hell is going to equate to fewer votes for the Liberals.

Yes, but you forget that not everyone lumps all Liberals into the same category like you do. Not all Liberals are making cheap shots at Sarah Palin. This is especially true of politicians who may be running against her. I see it doing nothing more than garnering her more sympathy, and most likely for a very short period of time. As I said before, any sympathy that she gets from the cheap shots that have been taken have more to do with her personal life than it has to do with her credentials as a politician. I honestly don't see people saying "Well, I feel sorry for her, so I'll vote for her even though I don't agree with her politically or see her as a good political leader."

That doesn't even make sense. Sympathy votes do not win elections. Specially not because people feel sorry that somebody is getting attacked. If that were true Ron Paul would have won the last election election hands down. And John McCain's sight alone would qualify him for President.

IMO, Liberals are getting lumped in together more and more everyday, especially when they do things like this. The more Liberals that act like assholes the more people won't see the difference between asshole Liberals and cool Liberals.

There are a lot of people on both sides of the political fence who do a lot of lumping. It doesn't mean that it's justified or correct in any way. You are acting like this is something new. A joke on a cartoon like this is primarily going to piss off the people who already support her. It may make more feel sympathy for her, but I highly doubt that it will make anyone suddenly want to switch their vote to her. Then again, we will see what happens when it comes time.

You know, I am one of those in the 71% majority who thinks that Sarah Palin is completely unqualified to be President.

But gee, now that Family Guy has made fun of her in a really obnoxious and tasteless way, why she's got my vote!

After all, giving someone the most powerful job in the world because they were made fun of makes perfect sense to me!

Well, it is new, because as far as I know this is the first time that people have openly taken shots at a politician's special needs kid. Just like when David Letterman took a shot at Palin's 14 old daughter ****ing what's-his-face in the dugout. has anything over the top been said about a politician's kid, regardless of age?

And, individually, they are nothing. However, you throw those in with all the other shameful **** that's been spewed about Palin and I believe that it'll blow up in the faces of the Leftists. Best case scenario for the lefties, it will open the door for people to do the same thing to PBO's kids and other Left wing politico's kids. Worst case scenario, the Leftists will look like nothing more than attack artists and muckrakers, thereby losing alot of their credibility as national leaders.

The Liberals never played the race card during the '08 presidential election? Not once?!?

You can bet you ass, that there were people that voted for PBO, just because they didn't want to hear the cries of, "racist", if he lost.
