Anti-Olympic protests turn violent

What? Al Jazeera English is a pretty good news source I find, though they have their biases like anyone else.

Uh, yeah.

.

I find Al Jazeera covers a lot of stories that the Western media don't, and sometimes does a better job than the Western media when they look at things.

I honestly don't think it is a problem use Al Jazeera as an alternative source just as long as you take everything with the known fact of their bias. Although that can be said about all media sources.

Also I feel you would have to fact check some things from Al Jazeera more than other sources.

The biggest bias that I find with Al Jazeera (at least their English channel) is that they always sympathize with the underdog in any situation.

Why is that?

They are anti-western and anti-capitalist, so if that's what floats your boat. There are plenty of scumbag socialists out there who will like it.

Why is that?

I fear that anti-Western feelings that I am sure they have would lead to some claims that are suspicious. But I do the same when the media here says things about the Middle East that sound fishy to me.

Well you have to take anything the media says with a grain of salt, particularly when it comes to conflicts like the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

I agree. I could have worded my original statement better, but I was watching the Women's Hockey game and the U.S. started really dominating China and I got distracted.

I finally found footage of the violent protests.

Honestly.. when they talked to a couple of the girls toward the end? Could they be any more clueless? Seriously. Protest to your hearts content but when that protest turns violent and destructive, then YEAH.. I don't think the police are going to be very willing to answer questions.

My daughter is sitting here and watched the video with me and asked me, "Why would people protest the Olympics??"

Because they need something to protest... apparently. :?

Ah, well. Anarchists seem to enjoy breaking things, and if there's anything out there even conceivably related to capitalism and the state, they'll jump on it, regardless of a complete lack of efficacy.

It's also important to note, however, that this is an event ostensibly intended to incorporate First Nation and Metis participation, but the Indian support of the protests illustrates that a few superficial symbols won't quell the sort of anger that caused the Mohawk uprising and contributes to the ongoing territorial dispute in Caledonia.

Middle Class?

So a middle class person can't afford to go to the Olympics?

How much could a ticket cost?

I don't think there is anytthing like an average citizen.
