Interesting development. Not that the Danes freed the hostages per say, but this gem..

Other EU and American forces have intervened in pirate hostage situations, but not during the hijacking itself.

Now that is interesting that the NATO/UN forces in the area are now helping out ships while they are being hijacked.

Hope it continues.

My only disagreement with the whole situation is the treatment of the pirates.

I would prefer that they were either unceremoniously thrown overboard or like "Jack Sparrow" be placed on a remote deserted island with the whole process posted on You Tube.

Or better yet they could be tied to an anchor chain and made to walk the plank, or just be shot and feed the fish with there sorry asses.

Shooting them costs money!.. else I agree somewhat. If the raping of Somali fishing waters stops then I would agree fully.

The pirates come from fishing villages who have seen their fishing stocks being stolen from them by big European, Asian and American fishing fleets. That is the problem that started the pirate problem.

The warlords are another problem that is not really related to the pirates.

Eh? What you expect these people to do? I dont condone their actions one bit, but what the **** do you expect these people to do when there are no fish to make a living off? Just sit and die? They did like every person around the world does.. found a way to make a living out of the situation they were in. This just happens to be piracy.

You're telling me the only job is crime. They have no other abilities than fish.

He blamed 'big European, Asian and American fishing fleets' These are criminals just like the pirates are and yet they are somehow absolved. The analogy still stands. "Because I do it with a little ship only, I am called a thief; you, doing it with a great navy, are called an emperor”

Are you defending the fishing industry for raping Somali waters of fish?

As for these people.. what skills exactly and alternative jobs exactly would you think they could do? Most of them cant even freaking read or write. Fishing has been in their families and villages for generations. And what industries can such people go into in a failed state?
