ABC News Reports Highlighted Deaths, Hundreds of Accidents Linked to Hazard.

Toyota has suspended sales of eight of its most popular vehicle models while the motor company investigates sticking accelerator pedals, following reports by ABC News' Brian Ross that examined incidents of random acceleration, some of which resulted in fatalities.
PHOTO Toyota on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010 announced that it is instructing Toyota dealers to temporarily suspend sales of eight models involved in the recall announced on Jan. 21.

Toyota dealers across the country have been instructed not to sell the 2009-2010 RAV4, 2009-2010 Corolla, 2009-2010 Matrix, 2005-2010 Avalon, 2010 Highlander, 2007-2010 Tundra, 2008-2010 Sequoia, and certain 2007-2010 Camry models

Those crazy Japanese and their practical jokes. Though "Oh ****, the accelerator is jammed," is probably funnier in Japanese than English.

the world's largest auto maker is on impluse speed vs warp speed!

who just bought a toyota?

Sigh. I was planning to buy a 2010 Highlander Hybrid. :(

I doubt this will be a problem for long, so you should still be able to buy one. They are nice looking, and as some one who makes parts for Toyota, Chrysler and GM, I can tell you that Toyota quality standards are much higher than other car companies.

At least they're being responsible about the whole thing!

they better hope it doesn't last long. could become a problem for them if it last long.

They will probably just engineer up fix, call all the cars sold so far back to have it installed free, have it installed on all cars built so far and not sold, and add it to those not built yet. Maybe extend the warranty on those sold already to make people like them better.

Stuff like that.

Probably won't be an issue in a year, if they handle it right. Just a small notation in the history of Toyota.

buy American or g2h

Like Toyota, which is mostly made in America, or Ford, GM and Chrysler, which these days are mostly made in Canada and Mexico?

Have it your way. But don't come crying to me when your car is forcing you to speak Japanese. Bilingualism is a sign of the devil.

Uh, what cars do that? Man, you are off in your own little nationalistic fantasy land aren't you?

I wouldn't mind.

I'd probably buy a used one, however, as my funds are almost non-existent.

I'm being sarcastic.

But I bet soon ONStar will teach you a foreign language if you asked of it.

Well, it is Government Motors, and we know multilingualism is PC.

Edit: Wait, weren't you just telling us to buy GM?

True, but not till after their little, "the floor mat must be making the accelerator stick" ploy was unraveled.

Wait, they actually tried that?

the one that has 200,000 miles on it?

i think toyota has about 2 weeks to have this problem solved or else they will see major problems in IMO, as in lose of confidence in the brand.

Nah, safety problems happen, this is far from the first, won't be the last.

Yup, remember all those old Ford SUVs that would roll over when people took a corner too fast?
