US to deploy 10,000 troops in Haiti

And my point was you made it sound like they were harmlessly distributing aid. And thats disengenious.
My point is that nineteen people died in connection to a mission that had has its ultimate goal the distribution of food, and I disagree that such a sacrifice is worth the reward.

So the problem was the mission in the first place? or the loss of 19 troops?

So its not thier lack of haitian rescue, but the fact they suck and the people who sail em suck as well?

The only "cruise" have ever done was on a 150 footer private charter.....

Those big boats to me are the antihesis of a vacation.....

I'll bet if a CSI unit did an examination of the beds and the linen that nobody would ever sail on one as well.

The ventilation system is also infested with harmful microbes:shock:.

You could probably say the same of just about every hotel, too.

Most of the time I'd just as soon sleep in my own car.

That's because your a cheap git.
Well, there is that, too.

It's also nice to know where all the semen stains are without a black light ...

And that aint all. There are all kinds of precious body fluids there.

Have you been sleeping in my car again? I wondered whose tighty whiteys those were. I didn't recognize the skid marks in them.

Cruise ships should be hotels in st. Louis or detroit. Not boats inthe caribean....

Like those commercials for atlantis. They look about as appealing to me as a prison colony.

My wife keeps wanting me to go on a cruise with her. I'm not at all enthused about the prospect.

I'll have to figure out some way to put her off it. She was all set to go scuba diving until we watched Open Water.

Sort of like the hotel california where you can check out any time you want but you can't ever leave?

We need to be very, very careful how we use our troops. They should only be used and called upon in times of war declared through congress. Even though it is incredible noble to help someone, when using power that has incredible force and giving it to free willed humans you are going to hit a bad apple eventually. For all your many honorable people you have the shifty eyed bastard who hates everything about his situation. Except we aren't talking about a money scam. Or hand trickery to steal your watch. Or the bastard that sold that ****ty used car to you. We are talking about people with tools that ensure rapid dispensation of death.

Send contributions to those people and ensure sovereign respect. Help those that are truly a help to society. So that they may in turn help others. Asking solely for pure cash and cash only seems salesman aura'd to me. Or... you could only show the "looters" on the media. Dump tons of boxes of aid into the rubble do to people on the streets and end up having it all look like 100s of people are stealing from a broken home. BLAST a death count of 100k to 200k until the foreign leadership submits. And not use your military aircraft instead to ship in free volunteers all day long.

All the interviews with standby rescue crews (getting paid by the way) on standby they say,
"We just wanna go in and help but right now we are told the Haitians are to dangerous."

I just hope right now we have more helpers than enforcers. If we need to be enforcers and take a mean roll then obviously we are doing something wrong. We need to stop controlling others. Those who have a desire to help... Help. But there is absolutely no need to control others and show how are way is better. With threat of possible death all along. How is this in any way honorable? Either say you want to help and do no controlling. Or admit it and say,
"We are going to use this tragedy as a way to better someone else to our standards"

I'm not saying this is going to happen. But, what if a small faction of people decide to attack our troops? What if we then attack the faction? What if we accidentally kill innocents in defense and cause a never ending cycle of beast infused revenge? Why should we be putting our war resources in such a position that could easily happen?

Haitian Doctors: Let Us Help Our People | NBC Miami

With over 200 Haitian doctors in South Florida, it's hard to understand why so many are still in town and not in Haiti.

The reason is simple, some of them say: They can't leave.

"I have a list of more than a hundred Haitian physicians who are volunteering, ready to go at a moment's notice if they were provided with the logistical support to do so," Dr. Herold Merisier said. "I would describe it as probably the worst nightmare you could imagine."

Americans, Israelis, Canadians, Russians, Spanish, and the French have all set up field hospitals in or near Port-au-Prince, saving lives and providing crucial emergency services, while Haitian docs cool their heels only a few hundred miles away from their brothers and sisters.

We say we are there to help. But we don't allow help... As they plunge into further chaos... We already stated that we are there for if things get chaotic. That's what the LMGs are for. I hope more volunteers are allowed to help and soon.

If something like that happened in Haiti it would be like a flea attacking an elephant.

Haiti quake gives Gitmo new mission - Haiti earthquake- msnbc.com

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba - The Haiti earthquake is giving the American base at Guantanamo Bay a new mission: supplying aid to the devastated island nation and potentially detaining thousands of Haitian migrants captured at sea.

Workers have also been preparing tents at Guantanamo Bay for Haitian migrants in case the earthquake spurs a mass migration. This is not a new role for the base: At any given moment, the facility temporarily holds small groups of migrants, mostly from Cuba.

Guantanamo to now imprison (and God knows what else) fleeing Haitians?

Better than shooting them trying to invade the US, no? ;)

Last time we filled Gitmo with Haitian migrants Clinton reminded us that they had no legal rights. What's up with that? Why do we got to capture people in a territory not ours and send them to a place with no protected rights?
