Unions nab sweetheart health-care deal - NYPOST.com


Big Labor got some big love from President Obama and congressional Democrats yesterday after they agreed to exempt union workers from the whopping “Cadillac tax” on high-cost health-care plans until 2018.

The sweetheart deal, hammered out behind closed doors, will save union employees at least $60 billion over the years involved, while others won't be as lucky -- they'll have to cough up almost $90 billion.

The 40 percent excise tax on what have come to be called "Cadillac" health-care plans would exempt collective-bargaining contracts covering government employees and other union members until Jan. 1, 2018.

rev, i believe there is supposed to be a provision that no taxes will be paid on insurance unless wages are over 200k, regardless of your union status.

i posted yesterday that they were trying to include that. another thing, what part of that benefit will be taxed? all of it? or just the amount over 8500 (single)? i can't find clarification.

Can I just be the first to say Barack Obama is kind of a douche? Screw America, if you're not in his little club he's going to take every penny he can from you for his friends.

Maybe we should make a TV show where Obama and some of his union buddies get a house in Seaside Heights NJ for the summer. I'm talking that level of douchey-ness.

I think there's already enough evidence. Chrysler and GM come to mind. As does recent proposals for punitive taxes on banks and executive bonuses.

i pay my share of taxes, and have always stated i wouldn't mind paying more for universal healthcare. as for your "class envy" crap, tell it somebody who cares.
