At least 3 dead, 5 wounded in St. Louis shooting

ST. LOUIS (AP) - An employee armed with an assault rifle and a handgun walked into a manufacturing plant Thursday morning and opened fire, killing at least three people and wounding five others, authorities said.

Several hours later, police were still inside Swiss-based ABB Group's plant, going room to room in a search for both the gunman and additional victims, police Capt. Sam Dotson said. Authorities had not confirmed whether the shooter was among the eight.

re: accuracy in reporting
I'll bet anything you want to bet that the shooter did -not- have an assault rifle.

Best wishes for all involved.

... because assault rifles are impossible to get or ineffective for killing people?

No... because it was probably an 'assault weapon' and the reporter doesn't know (or care that) there is a difference.

(Never mind that assault rifles are not impossible, or even difficult, to get)

1. It's a shame things like this happen; my sympathies to the victims and families.

2. No bet on the news ID'ing the weapons correctly. I have seen actual news stories where some reporter said "the suspect was in possession of a bolt-action assault rifle" or "a semi-automatic revolver.":doh

Sadly typical.

Does anybody give a **** what the bullet tearing into their flesh was launched from?

Libs do, that way they can try to ban some "class" of weapon, there by violating our 2nd amendment rights with impunity .

Remember Obama wanted Shotguns classified as assault weapons.

Nothing he does surprises me..... it wouldn't surprise me if he wanted baseball bats classed as assault weapons….. Then tried to ban them.

What next?…. Apple pie?
[/tongue in cheek]

Depends on how many shells it holds and if it has a pistol grip.

As opposed to the "Street Cleaner" the South African police used. Selective fire, lots of rounds etc. The name escapes me at the moment.

Yeah, I wanted one of those, but now they're coming out with one that uses a box magazine...handier reloads.

Still, I prefer M4's or AK's over shotguns for most purposes. Hard to take a hostage-rescue shot with a shotgun.

Whats you point. By the way that bill did nothing for real assault weapons like a mac 10 or AK 47

Mac 10 I care little about. Subguns don't impress me much.

What's wrong with an AK47?

Automatic weapon. How is it an automatic weapon is not an assault weapon but shotguns and hunting rifles are?

You know there is really not such thing.
There are -many- assault rifles.
There is not really such thing as an 'assault weapon'.

An 'assault weapon', by definition, is semi-auto.

There are semi-auto versions of AK47's, just as there are semi-auto versions of most military rifles.

An assault rifle, by definition, is a selective-fire weapons (capable of full auto or burst fire.)

Therefore almost everything banned under "assault weapons" laws was not, in fact, an assault weapon.

I love my AK, do not dis the AK.

Which is why the British version of my beloved FN FAL was designated the SLR-1 for (Self Loading Rifle) It was semi-auto only. Us Paddies could be trusted with full auto.:2razz:
