3 Democrats Drop Plans to Seek Re-election

I woud say common sense but it's not exactly common is it?

I favor a middle ground approach, a regulated market.
We have a regulated market.

FOXNews.com - 3 Democrats Drop Plans to Seek Re-election

Democrats are either defecting or running from the fight. I'm particularly sad I won't get to see Dodd's concession speech after getting trounced by 20+ points.

It's fascinating to watch this suicide mission of the Democrats hurrying to pass all this crap nobody wants before they go down with the ship. It's puzzling, especially if conservatives do the right thing and undo it as quickly as possible once they get in power and regain the presidency in 2012.

It's fun watching your all's desperation.

It's greedy of you to demand well kept infrastructure and the like but bitch about taxes constantly. Seriously - no wonder NHS is so much better than anything the US offers. :rofl

Not that I agree that their NHS is better than our private health care, but do you know why they can offer a NHS in the first place?

It's fun watching your all's desperation.

LOL, that's just bull. Your head is spinning at how fast this thing is circling the drain on you guys. You're losing, and are in danger of losing, some of the most no-brainer Democrat spots in the nation.

I'd expect Venezuela to elect a Republican before some of these offices.

Who's talking about Jesus? I'm talking about the fundie hypochristians that tarnish the names of intelligent Republicans.

You called republicans intelligent? Its a sign that miracles do happen.

Nope, your party is just losing popular support because, in case you didn't know, people would rather do things themselves than have a nanny state.

I imagine that people who have been laid off and are getting by on unemployment while they look for work are happy for the help.

Nanny State = safety net programs supported to some degree by both parties.

So, when you're talking about Dems vs. Reps, it's really how much 'nanny' in the 'state'. I think you'll find that Republican congressmen who represent lower-income conservative Christians will favor, at least in speeches, an expansion of public assistance and jobs programs. And Democrats who happen to represent higher-income liberals, will favor a conservative tax code--especially for corporations.

There is this misconception that the GOP is a friend to the middle class and small business owners. At the federal level, most of our representatives haven't been 'middle class' since they finished law school.

The mid-terms should be interesting. The Tea Party conservatives need to keep in mind that moderates and independents do not find hyper-partisan signs and slogans appealing.

We agree with you on bail-outs and new taxes, but you start screaming 'Baby Killer' or 'Marxist' in our face, and we're out. You'll lose moderates and independents with that b.s. McCain/Palin were ahead in the polls after the GOP Conventions--but then Sarah opened her idiotic mouth.

Drop the Palins, Bachmans, and Inhofes.

I like Barbara Boxer, but if a smart fiscal conservative steps up with pragmatic solutions, I'll listen to everything he/she has to say.

If a private monopoly controls the most convienient routes between point A and B, another company is pretty much unable to compete because the roads they contruct are less convienient and thus will not see as much use as the more convienient ones.

Capitalism is not the answer to everything.

If they are overpriced then people definitely will use the other roads.

Because we live in a regulated economy and not a Laissez Faire one? Not to mention there is a cap on how unskilled your workers can be before they become financially undesirable.

Even before government intrusions skilled workers were paid more than unskilled workers.

Of course, it's common sense......;)

Except for Detroit where they pay you $25/hr to glue an emblem on the hood. :rofl :spin:

Hey, that glue is tricky stuff.... how often have you seen a car going down the road with an assembly line worker glued to the hood? FAIL!!!!!!! :2wave:

I disagree....
I really doubt that working the assembly line in an auto plant is a picnic like so many seem to think......:naughty

A picnic? No. Boring work.

Difficult? No.

Well-compensated? Extremely, with LOTS of vacation time.

Bankrupt as a result? Most definitely.

The car companies aren't bankrupt..... with the US government now as a partner, they can print all the money they want.

Don't blame the workers for wanting good pay.....;)

Really. And you're basing this off what? An Atheist convention?

No...I'm basing it off the fact that the "religious right" is more concerned in politics and advancing a poltical social agenda that they are about teaching or adhering to the teachings of Christ.

Most people who use the term "Christian" wouldn't know Jesus Christ if he walked up and kissed them on the face.

Correction: the party is losing popular support because Middle Americans don't want to *pay* for a nanny state, being the typical greedy consumers that are the product of heartless American capitalism.

Pardon the diatribe.

Regardless of what amount of greed the middle may possess, they are proving your ideology to be a minority.

North Dakotans like their Governor, but aside from the health care issue and Hoeven's possible entrance in the race, I'm not so certain Dorgan would have bowed out (internal and external polling showed quite the undesired results for Dorgan this past year). Because of his party-line, we had to select someone of moderate political ideology (or as recently popular-"blue dog"), and Dorgan was that man. Believe it or not, North Dakota is a politically odd state, and typically a friendly one at that (which is why it feels funny seeing people discuss trouble for Democrats as if we would come out with pitchforks, tar and feathers) who mostly enjoyed Dorgan's long service to the state. We, to a certain extent, profess to be conservative, but because of our socialist past with farming, do like Democrats and do enjoy it when they lobby for funding and influence nationally. The joke is something like "we like our Democrats to be in Washington, away from home."

Splitting hairs. That's a socialist.

No offense, but if form holds, you're someone who has not yet made their hay in this world, and thus, hasn't had their hay taken away and given to someone sitting on a couch not attempting to make their own hay.

You will one day, and your views will change. That tends to be the cycle. Age and experience beget wisdom and realism.

Not really - socialism is supporting government ownership of the means of production, social democracy is supporting a "free" market tempered with social values.

I'm someone who willingly puts their hay in the pile to pay my debt to society, actually.

Do you even know how old I am?

So far the only thing older conservatives have demonstrated to me is that age begets idiocy and delusion.

Love this exchange between you and Erod on post #17. Notice who is the first to resort to personal insult.

Typical.;)

Pardon the diatribe.
Heartless Americans give more to charity than any other country in the world.

The greedy people are the ones wanting free handouts at the expense of others.

35 hour work weeks, etc.

Whats so special about a 35 hour work week?Seems like a way to reduce peoples incomes if you ask me.

It wasn't too long ago that Bill Clinton told Democrats that the reason they lost badly in 1994 was because they didn't pass healthcare reform.....Now that it passed in one form or another in both chambers of Congress, one Democrat switched parties and 3 more are polling so badly they decide to quit rather than lose.

Truckdrivers will never see that.

I hope I never see it too....Thats a nice chunk of my check I wont be able to spend on mandatory health insurance and sky high energy prices (Cap and Trade).
