actually nothing
Ah, my mistake then
actually nothing
thank you, I was born on the 25th of Jan, my Dad thought the nurse was bringing in a haggis and started to pipe me in using my umbilical cord as bag pipes, Lang may your central heating reekie, hoots mon and other patronising sasoknackers commentsAh, my mistake then
An example of what I'm talking about:
The Crown Heights riot was one of the largest and most destructive riots in NYC history. Exactly 27 cars were burned.
An interesting story from last year, with background:
France's New Year's Tradition: Car-Burning - TIME
OK, so they burn cars.
Now, tell me how many people were killed in the French "riots", and how many people were killed during the 1992 LA riots

It's a dumb tradition. So what? People have insurance, car manufacturers get a bit more business and so do car salesmen.
Europe is full of weird traditions that look retarded to outsiders. How about the running with bulls in Spain? People actually die in those. Or the tomato fights during the Tomatina; or the eggs and flour fights that leave the city streets a freaking mess.
It's not about being civilized. It's about letting your hair down and doing retarded ****. You know, like you guys do on Spring Break.
In the Spring Break, Spain, and Tomatina examples, the crowds are not going out and destroying valuable property belonging to thousands of innocent people. Also, did you honestly just analogize getting drunk on spring break to rioting and committing arson?
I wasn't trying to "prove" anything. I'm astonished that such a massive incident can occur in any first-world country, be it France or the US. I was surprised by that, so I posted a thread about it. You came in and posted one picture of something of a different magnitude and another of something that's entirely unrelated. I'm sorry you felt the need to do that.
2 v. 53.
If the 1992 riots happened every single year like clockwork, you might have more of a point. They were an exceptional event that was absolutely abhorrent.
Again, my surprise here is not that people rioted - it's that people riot every year, everyone knows it's going to happen, and nobody does anything about it. If we had riots like that every single year, I'd be disgusted at that.
Yeah, I did. Because it's the same stupid mindset at work. Humans doing stupid things when they think they have an excuse to do so. The majority of spring breakers won't get into trouble, just like the majority of French people can party without burning cars. Unfortunately others will do dangerous or illegal things, like slipping a date rape drug in their hot friend's drink or burning the neighbor's car. How do you expect to fix random behavior like this? A cop behind every spring breaker? A horde of cops on every single French street on New Year's Eve? Impossible. Warning people of what could potentially happen and hoping for the best is really the only thing that can be done.
Killing people is worse than burning cars, but that's just my opinion here
I agree, and if DP had been around during the LA riots, I would have posted a thread asking how something like that could have happened in a civilized nation. Furthermore, the point remains that there is a significant distinction between a regular event and an isolated occurrence.
Not all segments of American society are civilized. Some areas are tribal.
Some will burn down their communities at the flick of a switch... trained by a pathetic, pimp-like leadership.
These people live in the land of opportunity, and are taught to be helpless victims. That isn't civil.
To think, we have a President cut from that cloth.
Trained for 20-years by a man spewing that vile poison.

You're not especially fond of black people, we get it.
