I'm amazed how many times that same pathetic "10 quote" list gets posted EVERY....SINGLE....TIME Rush becomes a topic. I've not even bothered countering it anymore because in 3 months when another Rush thing happens people will swarm out going "racist, racist! See, 10 quotes from some website i just read and I never thought to take the time to look any deeper at it".
At least the website took away the two completely, 100%, factually incorrect ones that were lies made up and put in a bo ok that people on the left continually liked to use to insult Rush.
The McNabb comments weren't racist. Controversial, racial focused in tone, yes. Racist, no.
The bone in nose comment was from over 30 years ago. I'm sorry, but at this point I'm not going to hold something someone said in their 20's and 30's more than 3 decades ago proof that they're "X" today. If Fred Phelps at one point 30 years ago called a guy that was homosexual his "friend" it wouldn't suddenly make him less of a homophobic bigot today. Rush saying something racist 30 years ago, and since apologizing for it, doesn't magically make him racist today.
The bloods and crips comment is a typical, pathetic attempt at a liberal think tank to take something out of context which then a highly partisan blog reports and mindlessly hyper partisan liberals spew. The comment came about in the context of a discussion talking about the NFL cracking down on gang signs and other gang related things done by their players and Rush commenting on his percieved increased physicality, cheap shots, and actions after plays making many seem thuggish. OMG! many football players are black, and many bloods and crips are black, and Rush said the NFL looks like bloods and crips. IT MUST BE RACIST
Its ****ing idiotic. At this point I'd dare say that the vast majority of legitimately racially controversial statements he makes at this poitn too are less his actual beliefs and more attempts to stir up controversy and tweak the other side....making him, as Tucker pointed out, a jackass but not a racist.
