Report: Rush Limbaugh taken to Hawaii hospital

As many as get addicted to illegal drugs. The question is how many of those people start running drug rings and doctor shopping. Which is you know, illegal.

Its a world of difference to get addicted to drugs by going out on the street and buying them rather then getting addicted using prescription drugs for excruciating pain.............even you can see that.......maybe not.........

What is wrong with calling him a drugster? It's a proven fact. If it quacks like a duck....

I tolerate only those I respect. What's liberal got to do with it?

because he got addicted from legal prescription drugs for pain.........

because he got addicted from legal prescription drugs for pain.........

A drug addict is a drug addict despite your attempts at rationalization.
Addiction does not discriminate between those who abuse street drugs and those who abuse government approved drugs. They are all narcotics and the behavior is the same.

Yeah....the difference is in one case you commit a crime by buying them from a dealer on the street.
In the other case....you commit a crime by forging prescriptions or using fraud to obtain them from a dealer in a pharmacy.

They are all narcotics.

Illegal is illegal, that in your old age you don't see that is quite telling. Limbaugh broke many laws on the books and then paid for an investigation to go away. That on itself should bring up huge flags. But then again you're Navy Pride. Consistency? Not your strength.

And are you telling me you can't see the difference from a person that gets addicted by accident and one that gets addicted because he just likes shooting up...........DD I am really surprised at you.....

He paid his debt and then got rehabilitated but that does not matter to the left. He is now drug free

There is no difference....and your rationalizing doesn't make it so. The street addict uses narcotics to kill their pain in the same way that a pharmeceutical junkie abuses to kill their pain.
Unlike you....I have sympathy for anyone who is addicted to drug.

Addiction does not discriminate.

Anyone who works in the area of drug rehabilitation will tell "Once an addict, always an Addict".

That said...most of us don't have a problem with Limbaugh's addiction, so much as we have a problem with the hypocrisy and double standards that are so apparent in him and in his followers.

What hypocrisy?

And what a load of bull****. Really.
You contradicted yourself in that sentence... did you not notice?

You don't have problems, but you have problems... That folks... is Liberal Logic.

What hypocrisy? ...

This kind of hypocrisy........... google "limbaugh hypocrisy" for a million hits.

" ... Anyone expecting that Limbaugh or his apologists would lay down their arms and take up Limbaugh's call for the incarceration of white drug abusers like himself, or better yet, call for a dramatic overhaul of American drug policy, is in for a rude awakening. Not only do his supporters refuse to confront the counterproductive consequences of this war and its obvious race and class-based double standards, they've turned hypocrisy into their own rallying cry. With appalling chutzpa, the conservative choir has excused Limbaugh's hypocrisy while simultaneously accusing "liberals and the media" of either themselves doing drugs or defending those who do. Indeed, according to the warped logic of one of his most vocal supporters, Limbaugh's hypocrisy is acceptable in large part because of the media's hypocrisy. As conservative pundit Matt Drudge declared recently on Buchanan and Press "There's no law against being a hypocrite a few times in your life and this industry is built on hypocrisy. I'm challenging the media tonight to empty their pockets."

Drudge's defense of Limbaugh is taken directly out of the Right's playbook: "When caught red-handed living a lie, deflect attention from your personal responsibility and shoot one directly across the bow of those perpetual evil-doers, 'the liberals and the media.' ... "

Thats not what I see here. The left here act like he is still using.

What hypocrisy?

The guy was prescribed pain killers post surgery and got hooked.
There was no proof of Doctor shopping.
He didn't blame Libs or the media.

He's been pretty open about it, most recently speaking about it with William Shatner.

The hypocrisy that Rush and his followers believe that drug addicts should go to prison*

(*This does not apply to Rush Limbaugh)....please, the way they rationalize his crime and his addiction is priceless.

And I didn't contradict myself. What I was saying (if you were able to comprehend) is that I have sympathy for Rush's drug addiction. What I have a problem with is his hypocrisy that he should be treated differently than any other addict. I believe that all addicts are deserving of sympathy and should be given help. Rush and his supporters don't feel that way....except for drug addicts that are like Rush.

Thats not what I see here. The left here act like he is still using.

How do you know he isn't? I'm not saying that he is, but drug addiction is a life long battle and chances are....Rush will relapse at some point, if he hasn't already.

Many should. Pushers should be given brutal sentences. Singapore, and other countries have a pretty good method of dealing with them.

He became addicted to pain medication; prescribed by a medical professional.
And I didn't contradict myself. What I was saying (if you were able to comprehend) is that I have sympathy for Rush's drug addiction.
Well, you didn't express sympathy, not from the posts I read. You said "most of us don't have a problem with Limbaugh's addiction".
A very different can of worms.

What I have a problem with is his hypocrisy that he should be treated differently than any other addict.
Was he?
I don't see Hollywood in prison?

I believe that all addicts are deserving of sympathy and should be given help.
Not all addicts want help. The student first must be prepared to take the advice of the teacher.

I don't think they should be "given" anything. It's their choice, their hole. If someone wants to assist, hat's off to them. The best way to reduce the problem is to be dispassionate about it. You dug that hole, you fill it up. It's called personal responsibility.

Government surely shouldn't be in the business of rehabilitating drug addicts.

Rush and his supporters don't feel that way....except for drug addicts that are like Rush.
Big, big, big generalization, and simply to broad to hold vast support.

For example, some of Rush's supporters are Libertarians that believe if someone wants to risk messing up their life with drugs, go ahead... just don't force me to pay for your rehabilitation or your drugs.

While I agree with some of what you wrote....you are guilty of much of the same rationalization of Rush's drug addiction as other Rush fans.

The bottom line is....people get addicted to narcotics because they misuse them. It doesn't matter if they are government sanctioned narcotics or street sanctioned ones.

You have addicts mixed up with dealers. Rush was not a dealer.

As I said some here talk like he is still using.

So you say. All I see is an Obama apologist.

I've asked for proof of this. You've offered none. And all I see in you is a partisan hack. Nothing more.

Instead of calling people apologists why don't try showing why they're wrong? That might be a start for you.

That would mean he might have to offer proof. But here are the three ways that extreme conservative partisan hacks like he debate:

1) I'm right because I said so. Shut up.
2) Prove it? :bolt
3) :2bigcry:

We have seen evidence of points #1 and #2.
