Senate OKs health care measure, reaching milestone

The left wants this, they're in the majority and they're going to get it. Kinda like how the right got things under Bush.

I find things like the Patriot Act and the War in Iraq to be just as harmful to this country (if not more so) as government healthcare. Yet the right championed these causes and told me to F off for not being a patriot.

Now that something they find to be just as distasteful to them is passing, they expect me to feel the same. Well, I won't. I have little compassion and absolutely no sympathy for them. Now their ox is getting gored ..good! It's the nature of partisan politics. I'll just sit here and relish the moment :mrgreen:

The only part of the legislation that I have seen as positive is the "pre-existing" elements, but even that was not done well as the insurance companies will raise rates.

Please share exactly which parts of the legislation you found positive.

I wonder how the elderly would have done without them. Probably would have made death panels look like childs play.
Medicare, medicaid and SS were created to address problems in our society. Had those problems not existed those programs would have never come into existance.

No, the problem is that the Democrat party is so drunk with power and control that they are more than willing to bankrupt the country to do it! Most people do not want this first step in a total governmental takeover of 1/6 of the economy!

What about the 15-20 million illegal immigrants who still won't have health insurance? Who pays for them?

I mentioned to a young woman today about this bill of which she had no knowledge (young people nowadays don't follow the news or politics) and she was surprised she could be jailed if she didn't buy health insurance. She said she didn't have the money so I guess she will go to the slammer under this bill.

With all the illegal immigrants and young people in jail we will need to build a whole lot more jail cells to hold these dastardly miscreants. I guess that's part of Obama's job strategy. Lots of jobs for prison guards.

What a great place is Obama's Amerika!

Could you show me the provision in the bill that jails people for not buying health insurance. I do believe you have been had.

Most of those people can not afford it. They are in debt up to their eyeballs, have lost good paying jobs and will probably eventually lose everything. Health insurance should not be half of one's income.

I read your article and the flaw is that because people choose to go into debt, we must now change the medical care system in order to provide them with coverage.

Do you not see the perverse incentive in that?
It smells of another bailout for poor choices.

It's not always poor choices. Many times it's circumstances beyond their control. Illness, job loss, accident, divorce etc.
Our economy is based on debt. Without credit the economy will collapse.
Our entire culture promotes lending and debt. You can't have both.
