Gov. David Paterson: Health care reform bill punishes New York
By Kenneth Lovett
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Monday, December 21st 2009, 8:48 AM

Gov. Paterson Monday declared that New York is being "punished" by the national health care bill expected to be voted on by Christmas.

New York stands to lose between $1.1 billion to $1.25 billion a year if the bill is adopted unchanged, Paterson told Buffalo's WBEN-AM radio.

Even though the goal of the legislation is to get as many people insured as possible, Paterson complained that New York is hurt by already having provided government-funded healthcare to a larger share of its residents.

Under the bill, he said, other states are being rewarded by enlisting more Medicaid recipients.

"New York can't do that, we're at the limit," he said. "We are, in a sense, by the bill being punished for our own charity.

"If this bill is encouraging the idea of having fewer people needing health insurance, then you would think that since New York already complied with that standard, we would get some equitable benefit for doing what Washington is doing now."
=snip=

This is amazing and amusing considering that New York already has the Bentley Car of Medicaid programs which is hurting the Empire, or should I say, Vampire State.

I hoped it was a senator...

you got my hopes up, damn u.

This is one of the reason why the Dems dont want Paterson to run for a full term, he sees things better than the rest of them.
And at the same time, he doesn't.

This phony Health Bill ie very dangerous for many reasons. One is it will add to Obama's goal of destroying the Nations economy which he is well on his way to.
Two it is causing a pressure build up among many who believe the only way to fight the Obama menace is with the use of violent force.

I fear that more almost than Obama's Socialist/Communist goals. It was some of Obama's most strident radical supporters who started this rhetoric quoting Mao as saying: "Political Power comes from the barrel of a gun."

The use of tyranny and the usurping the will of the people is very dangerous.

Have they not heard the stories of of massive increases in the sales of guns and ammunition in the last year that have lead to shortages? This all worries me because the left has been egging people on and promoting an atmosphere of hate even suggesting that peaceful protests like the 9-12 rally in Washington D.C was filled with haters when in fact all the hate emanates form the Left, while hope still comes from the right.

I pray that the left will come too their senses and carry out their duties to represent the will of we the people before something really bad happens.

I would urge everyone to make note that we can stop this Obama nonsense at the ballot box next year and return sanity to Washington by putting enough sane people in office to STOP Obama from any more damage peacefully.

Do you really believe that revolution is in the air because some conservatives don't want health care? Wow. You've got to step back, breath, and try to look past the "Rush Limbaugh" view of life. I hope the Patriot Act is watching people that have these feelings.

Do you consider 51% of Americans "some conservatives"???

No doubt you hope they have a gulag already arranged for people who practice their 2nd Amendment rights and follow the beliefs of Thomas Jefferson.

That it is, sir. And contrary to your talk-show Shaman, the will of the people has chosen, like it or not, President Obama.

I know, I know. It's a tough pill to swallow to you good ol' boys but deal with it. These people you speak of becoming domestic terrorists are far and few between, if even measurable at all. It's all hat and no cattle. Bullcrap.

In 8 years it will be all over. We got through Bush, didn't we? So just suck it up and quit your boo-hoo'ing because you didn't get your way. Wah. Wah.

I sure as hell hope to God that we won't have to go through 8 years of Obama. The guy is a disaster for the US. Far more than Bush imo. And I consider Bush to be the biggest idiot of all our presidents. At least I agreed with some of Bush's policies. I agree with none of Obama's.

Then get out the vote. :2wave:

But as it stands, looks like we're lookin' at a lil' over 7 years yet. :doh

Not at the rate his poll numbers are falling. He's got the left and the right after him now. He's lost his base.

Flashback ---- May 2004 ---- just a few months before the Election

Forty-six percent of Americans approve of Bush's job performance in the USA TODAY/ CNN/Gallup Poll released Monday.
And what were the 'experts' saying?
"For an incumbent to be at 46% job approval at this point in an election year has historically always spelled defeat" for presidents since 1950, says Frank Newport, editor in chief of the Gallup Poll.
Of course we all know how that turned out...:2razz:

Not at the rate his poll numbers are falling. He's got the left and the right after him now. He's lost his base.

Not so sure. I heard his ratings were actually improving. Go figure.

New CNN poll: Obama gains

Then, click on the next poll and it says it's not so.

Gallup.Com - Daily News, Polls, Public Opinion on Government, Politics, Economics, Management

However, from what I can tell, most all presidents go through the ratings roller coaster. Bush's ratings were so low at the end of his term it carried over to the GOP as a whole and we all see what happened then. Even though Bush couldn't have ran for president anyways due to term limits, the GOP still suffered a tremendous loss.

The pendulum of politics never seems to stop swinging.

And at the same time, he doesn't.

Stevie Wonder once asked Patterson if he had seen his new piano, with the gold inlays. Patterson, of course, said no. Stevie Wonder replied "That's OK, neither have I".

Isn't it hillarious the same people that trashed Patterson because he's a democrat think he is God's gift to the Republicans when he agrees with them?

You people are not only pathetic you're desperate!

:rofl:rofl:rofl

Rush Limbaugh? Isn't he an entertainer? People actually listen to that blowhard?

This is one of the reason why the Dems dont want Paterson to run for a full term, he sees things better than the rest of them.

I doubt that, the guy's a moron despite the fact he's probably right about this issue.

The fact remains liberals and conservatives are unhappy with this bill. Just how long will this party, this president continue to ignore the people?

Majority Oppose Senate Health Bill, Many Doubt Changes Will Improve System

Continuing a string of surveys showing public opinion running against passage of health care reform, 56 percent of Americans oppose the Senate bill based on what they know about it, while 42 percent support it with 2 percent undecided, according to a CNN/Opinion Research poll conducted Dec. 16-20.

However, that number is down from two weeks ago when the margin of opposition was 61 percent to 36 percent.

Thirty-eight percent believe the bill would change things for the worse as far as the care and insurance available to most Americans, 26 percent said it wouldn't change anything while 34 percent believe it would change things for the better.

When it comes to their own families, 39 percent said the Senate measure would result in no change, 37 percent said the change would be for the worse and 22 percent said it would be for the better......

Ya beat me to the punch BWG!
Sorry about that, my ex-Texas-living-friend...LOL

I get a kick out of reading the cons hangin' on every poll - no matter the subject - that comes out negative to this administration.

I remember, not so very long ago how they chastised President Clinton for governing by the polls, by sticking his finger in the air to gauge the political wind in the air, by checking the bend of the tree limbs.

Now they demand it when in their favor.

I remember how they admired President G. W. Bush for his resolute character. How he would stay true to his principle no matter the dissent surrounding him.

Now it's ignoring the will of the people.

Cons are funny. Funny cons.

Yes indeed. Spot on.

Here's something else for the Obama Haters to contemplate: if Obama is so terribly dangerously liberal :)shock:), why is he willing to piss off not just the right, but the left, as well? Gee, I dunno. Could it be because he's not a far-left partisan suckup megalomaniac as so many on the right insist?

Paterson has been pragmatic for quite awhile if you havent noticed.

He's trying to escape the mountain of feces Obama dropped on him... and seems to be intent on dropping a few loads on the O-Bomber himself.

I like it. Fling away.

Well, let's see... Obama sold himself as a post-partisan uniter.
GONG!

He sold himself as an agent of Change. Not a socialist according to his propagandists who didn't bother to vet him.
GONG!

He said he would run a transparent government for the people.
GONG!

The claims were this would be a post-racial time.
GONG!GONG!GONG!

He is a cut of his commi-trained (Hawaii), race baiting church (Chicago)... it's just that he hasn't been able to get everything his Marxist desires (or his followers) desire.

So his wacko followers are pissed, and Americans feel lied to... not just Republicans... but the so-called Independents. R's alone can't tank his numbers to 44%... the worst ever for a 1st year president.

How's that bit of reality taste?

.

PS. Bush didn't live and die by the polls, but the left sure used them... to create news. They're awfully silent on these polls though, just the normal, run of the mill polls. Not out of the ordinary stuff to generate outrage among the Manhattenites and San Fransisco whack jobs.

Hey! Talk'in about SF... Where's Cindy Sheehan these days? I hear she's pissed off. Not a usable douche bag anymore? Just a douche bag?
